Bioshock.
Alone. At night. With the sound system up and the lights off.
Just one moment, I came up to a desk with an audio log; I listened. When it was over, I noticed a blade protuding from somewhere behind me. I turned 180, and HOLYSHITSPLICERWITHAKNIFESTANDINGRIGHTBEHINDMESHOOTTHEFUCKERBANGBANGDEAD!

*Ahem* Not sure how/why that happened, -a glitch, maybe, or possibly a scripted event- but whatever the case it scared the fuck outta me.

I had a lot of these moments in Fallout 3 & STALKER in general... Also in Borderlands turning around and seeing a badass Shock Scag leaping at you doing the mouth thing. Yeah.

Not really. I don't often yell the names of various deities out when I'm scared or angry or whatever. Usually it takes A LOT to make me even utter one of 'em.

The first time I encountered a Deathclaw in Fallout 3. I had just left a dilapidated empty vault I had stumbled into, and was trekking back into the wasteland on edge. Just then I heard a faint grunting and heavy footsteps behind me, so I warily turn around-

I love how I instantly know who you're talking about, even though I've never heard anyone else mention this. I think that was the one moment of genuine terror I experienced in the entire game of RE4. It was just a little, instantaneous thing, but it was oh so effective.

same for me. whenever i go into first person camera i start shitting my pants whenever i turn around and see an enemy. it's probably to do with walking around for so long not seeing anything and then getting attacked out of nowhere
I would say this but then I remember the win button (V.A.T.S).....usually its deathclaws that make me scream JESUS CHRIST as usually i can't finish them in VATS and they eat my face....

I remember the first time I played RE2, and getting jumped by that licker in the interrogation room through the one-sided glass. If I had only been in there once, it wouldn't have been bad, but I had already been in there several times and having that happen just about made me shit ma pants.

In Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines a quest that had me walking in a sewer looking for the nosferatu's hideout. The place was full of these creatures made from human body parts and every time one of them jumped at me from behind some corner JESUS CHRIST !!!

Once when I was playing King Kong on the PS2 (one of the best film tie-in games I've played) when I had a BROKEN COLLAR BONE. And I mean BROKEN, sling and all, I turned round to see one of those weird flying bat-like things, got scared and JUMPED, knocking my collar bone, again, out of place, causing incredible pain for several minutes.

I was playing condemned while a friend was watching and I was joking around by going, bwa? and acting scared when i opened cabinets, so as I was opening the last one I turned and said to my friend, "Wouldn't it be funny if there was some-OHMYDEARLORD!" a body fell out of the cabinent and before I could tell if it was dead or not I had smacked upside the head with the shovel screaming bloody murder

I played the demo of HL2.
THOSE BLACK SPIDER ONES ARE FREAKY. I threw almost everything in the room at one with the gravity gun just to be sure it was dead.

Kind of an in-game/out-game thing for me, but I was walking through the museum's fake vault in Fallout 3, had my weapon out and ready to take on anything that might want to hide in there. I rounded that corner, and that's when my mobile rung, on loud because I hadn't turned it down from being outside.

My ringtone if Final Fantasy VII's 'One Winged Angel'. I nearly jumped out of my skin...
