Homefront anyone?
No, awful... just awful.

Remember when what happened in Red Dawn happened in reality? No, thats because it didnt... and thats because the guy who wrote it is a fear-mongering tool of epic proportions.

N. Korea is weak, running out of fuel and losing all connections to the outside world. The exact opposite of Homefront will happen, Korea will be reunified. S. Korea have already got the plans drawn up.

I've heard his Son is even worse, and is far more aggressive and problematic.
Well, fortunately North Korea is a pathetic military force. If he really does rush an attack against basically anyone, he's rushing his own downfall. There's a reason Kim Jong Il never made good on his threats.
Of course, but that doesn't mean they couldn't take out bundles of South Koreans with them. It may get to the point, whether through feeling threatened or being just plain crazy, that the North goes bananas.

No concern for all the poor bastards stuck in North Korea? They're probably in bigger trouble than the South Koreans.
Considering the fact that most North Koreans are in favour of their government and are brainwashed slaves - no. I think it's sad, especially because these people never really got the chance to live a nice life - but I have no real concern for them. They allow this man to be in power.

Yeah but the big worry is what if China gets involved like it did last time, and the massive shitstorm that could lead to.
China? Haha. China will not get involved. They may talk the talk - but I find it completely laughable that China would risk trade destruction by fighting the world along side North Korea. China don't need North Korea. If push came to shove and the EU and the USA ended up fighting the North, China would be neutral. They are in it for themselves and would not have their life blood cut off because of North Korea.
What the...? Where has this "talk the talk" bullshit come from? China hasnt threatened anyone, America is being more antagonistic than China is. And Chinas ties to N. Korea grow weaker by the day, reunification will happen and one more bogeyman for the American government will be put to bed.

he's... dead.

well then.

is america going to stop aiming nukes at Korea and calling it 'missile Feng Shui'?
Um no. Those missiles are there to counteract the North Korean ones pointed at Seoul. The Korean War has never technically ended, as as the South's primary ally in the war, the U.S. is bound to defend it.
you're technically still at war with Korea?
jesus.
Yea actually, as stated before, that's why the DMZ still exists. North Korea and South Korea are no longer in a "hot" war, but the war never actually ended...

Woah calm done buddy.

I'm talking about the numerous threats China has made to the USA and to South Korea during military drills in the peninsula. I'm saying they are empty threats and China wouldn't risk their ass trying to protect North Korea.

Well, he died before Homefront said he would.

To get to the point: I'm happy, but at the same time a bit worried. Kim Jumg-il has left behind a country with millions of improvished, starving citizens, a massive army, as well as chemical and possibly nuclear weapons. It will be interesting to see how Kim Yong-nam will run the country until Kim Jung-un takes over. Will North Korea finally open up to the world or will it continue to be closed and aggressive towards its neighbors? We better keep our eyes on the Korean Peninsula for the time being.

Sure hope nothing to bad will happen now that Kim finally kicked the bucket. Hopefully someone less crazy will take power in Norh Korea.
His son is taking over, Who (like his father) is believed to have a Mentally Disability of one form or another.

So Kim Jong Il Will just be replaced by another Crazy Dictator.

yeah, i heard about this earlier. I had/have nothing against him, and even though people didn't like him, he was/is still a person, and his death was/is unnecessary, even if it was by train wreck. death needs to be avoided, and no one should get to decide who lives or dies, for there are always unseen circumstances, and we do not know the wheel of fates. I think this world might have been better if he didn't die, because the next ruler of North Korea could be worse, and Kim was doing a good job, the entire country was stable, and in good working order, it was efficient. people may have seen him as a tyrant, but he was just keeping things running efficiently.
I wonder who else had a relatively stable country.... let's see.

Kim Jong Il instilled a cult like hold on the people of his country with no freedoms, kidnapped and attacked civilians from South Korea, and much much more.

But hell, at least the country was stable.

Whu? Huh?

Obvious troll is obvious? Maybe? Or just massively uninformed, oblivious and ignorant all at the same time.

Please tell me you're joking. You are, right?

Also, he really didn't do a good job. He made NK an enemy of the US. You really can't do any worse then that.

You're either woefully ignorant of what's been happening in N.Korea, or you've been listening to way too much propaganda. A nation of poverty and oppression is far from what I'd call "efficient."
apparently i know nothing about chorea then. i wasn't trolling, wasn't fully informed, and unaware of the poverty, etc. Now i feel idiotic. i reeeeaaaaalllly need to research before talking, and yes, I'm fairly new here. sorry for the inconvenience.

I know I am going to get blasted for this but...

I say we dont let this golden oportuinity pass ungrasped. If I was S. Korea, the US, or the UN, I would be telling the troops "MOUNT UP! The dictactor is dead and the country is in need of resuce. This is a chance to give the people of N. Korea peace and democracy! LETS NOT WASTE IT!!"

Yeah, I'll "blast" you by telling you that world politics, especially WAR politics, isn't that simple. China borders the north of North Korea, and North Korea, despite their outdated military, DOES have nuclear weapons. If China were in on it, then the biggest issue would be striking at North Korea in a way so the civilians were not harmed (or, since war is always chaotic, were least harmed). And it wouldn't be a wonderful war either. The North Koreans are taught to fight with such honor and bloodshed that hasn't been seen since the Japanese Empire in WW2, which actually conquered Korea then. So, I understand what you're getting at, and I do agree, just not in that action.

Good. That's one more powerful, crazy, bastard dead. Now, hopefully, a little more of the "edge-of-seat" paranoia going on in my country will die down. However, I'm pretty sure my idiotic government will try to take credit for this somehow.

This was part of fark.com's headline:
Is Kim Jong Il? No he's dead.

Good riddance, but it is most unlikely that things will change.

In 2003, he believed that his rule would be overthrown by triplets as part of some strange King Herod-esque prophecy. And since none of his own children were born in threes, he ordered all North Korean triplets to be rounded up and detained in state orphanages. You know, just to be safe.

This fucker was definitely loco. Glad one more crazy nepotist dictator is in the ground.

You have to wonder how much they will lash out to cover their insecurities this time. This nation seems to believe any change should be covered by aggression to warn people off, but ironically it probably makes them more at risk of intervention.

Realistically, I doubt it will change much, I fear the population isn't really educated or informed enough to bring about change, and the military will probably be in de facto charge for the next few years anyway

Maybe after N. Korea actually gets an economy. Somehow, I doubt they're going to be blasting America with EMP satellites until they get things like Internet access and running water figured out.

They have actually only been training him since Kim Jong lls stroke in late 2008. Anyways its going to be awhile before we see what he is really like. He will share the same political views that his father had for the next little while out of respect. I doubt we will see what he is actually like for at least another year. He may turn out to be the same and he may not. Lets just hope he realises that North Korea cant actually support its current population.
His father did believe himself to be a demi-god, no doubt he thinks he too has the same level of "divinity". Kim didn't care much for the population, only keeping fresh lobster on his plate and girls in his bed.

Nothing will change, in the long run.
