Been a hardcore console gamer for nearly 20 years now, and today I put through an order for a sweet PC gaming rig. Diving into the PC world for the first time. It feels fucking good.

why would anyone need a console
Because I can't afford the start up cost of a gaming PC.

But hey, I'll offer you the same challenge I give to any PC "master race" type;

Show me a PC build from the ground up, WITHOUT USING "MIDNIGHT MADNESS"-style SALES OR AUCTIONS THAT PROBABLY WON'T EVEN BE AROUND WHEN I TRY IT, that can run Sleeping Dogs on max settings with the HD patch at 50+fps for 200-300$ American, and I'll burn every console I own on Youtube. You up for that?
A completely flawed argument. You're expecting way higher quality for the same amount of money. If you asked me to spec out a rig that could run it at 30fps and at low/medium graphics that might be a good comparison.

Besides who doesn't own a computer of their own these days? The extra money you need to put into a computer to make it into a nice gaming rig pretty much goes towards a bigger PSU and a discrete GPU. You can do that at a much lower price than the price of a console. If you want to have those nice graphics and a high framerate, then you might want to spend a couple hundred bucks on a GPU.

But hey, let's just ask people to build a straight up superior machine that does way more than any console ever could for the same money. That makes sense, right?

I hope you consulted someone first. This has "famous last words" written all over it.

I'm not trying to call you an idiot or anything, it's just I've heard comments like yours followed by "MY PC SUCKS! PC GAMES SUCK! NEVER AGAIN!" and I don't want that to be you. There is a barrier for entry in PC gaming, though it's a low one, and apparently on a street that sells step ladders, but that doesn't stop people from tripping on it.

Anyone who complains about any vocal segment of a demographic and acts as if that's the whole demographic has forgotten the concept of a vocal minority.
