Alright, I don't know if this thread has been done before, but it probably has. I searched Left 4 Dead 3 and nothing came up.

The other day, I was on Left 4 Dead 2 and my teammate and I were just talking and he brought up the idea of Left 4 Dead 3 being in the mountains. And it sounded like a great idea. What we came up with was Left 4 Dead 3 taking place in snowy mountains somewhere and this time having vehicles like snowmobiles and snowboards. It also takes place well after the infection because all the people who hadn't been infected decided to go up into the mountains to hide from the zombies in low populated areas... but because of this, the low populated areas become highly populated areas and the infection makes its way up to them so there wouldn't be any shortage of zombies. Just think about all the possibilities for this... There could be a ski lift crescendo event, burrowing special infected, and vehicles.

What do you think should be in Left 4 Dead 3?

Also, don't mention Episode 3... everyone knows that it's taking them a long time to make it, but every thread about Valve or their games doesn't need to have Episode 3 mentioned... it's not going to make it come out any faster. Do you hear that? Don't mention the games that Valve isn't making/is currently working on! DO NOT MENTION THEM HERE. If you want to complain about it, do it somewhere else. This is a thread about what you would like to see in Left 4 Dead 3 should they decide to make it. We all know it's taking them a long time to make Episode 3 and we all know that they are working on other games right now like Portal 2 and Counter-Strike: Source updates. This is not a thread about Episode 3! THIS IS NOT A THREAD ABOUT EPISODE 3, SO PLEASE DO NOT MENTION IT!

I recommend they let it go in 3... Seriously I'm tired of the whole zombie subject. Let's kill skeletons or something instead. Maybe a vehicle mission if you want an actual gameplay idea. Make 1 player the driver of a bulldozer lets say and the whole team has to gun down zombies trying to climb up to eat you on the moving dozer. You have to navigate through many many hordes and the street plan of the city changes with each time you play the map. (could be done through road blocks or something)

Even better. Screw the whole realistic thing and you get all the weapons and gameplay from painkiller. Just with 1000s of zombies rushing you and in co-op. Actually screw left4dead entirely. Lets all go play painkiller instead.

I think it would be very important to bring in a new big feature, maybe larger teams, or perhaps vechile sections, though unless that's handled carefully it could ruin the game.

A special zombie that always finds you first is something i'd like to see, i mean smokers are easy enough to spot, their always up high and hunters jump around a lot, a zombie who launches itself from a high place and glides down onto your delicious currently flesh covered body.

Yep. You are right. Left for dead 1 & 2 were fun to play, but how much more do you want to squeeze out of a zombie shooter?

I'm fine with what they have for now. Both games already offer a lot of replayability and some of the mods are quite excellent. I would much rather Valve devote their time and resources to Half-Life 2: Episode 3 and Portal 2.

I agree with that, though I give it 7 posts until it's mentioned and the age old arguement starts :D

Anyway...

I'd love to see a mode with 8 players vs loads of zombies, but thats just me, I love co-op play. An added thing would be the ability to have the AI play as the survivors themselves without any player leading them. I suggest this because I think i've rarely played more than a level without everyone on one team leaving... It's the worst part of the game, actually made me get rid of it in the end as I never could complete a match (this is on xbox360).

Otherwise, I'd suggest making the witches harder. They never have seemed hard enough, and now when I see one I don't get any fear, I just think 'Shotgun time'.

In the perfect world, I'd like to see abit more open environment, so while yes the survivors would follow a A-B route, their would be multiple ways to their, like different streets to go down. Also leading on from this, I'd love to see the cresendo moments get mixed up so I don't know whats going to happen ahead of me, and what challenges the environment is going to throw to me.

Maybe an infected that slows survivors? Hopefully it won't be for another few years, though.

Would like to see Rockstar do a sandbox treatment with zombies. make it difficult to get from point a to b and make ammo very scarce.

Somebody has already mentioned it... it's nice to see people reading the OP...

Also, I agree with the witch thing. I remember back in Left 4 Dead 1 when I wasn't very good at crowning, I would hear a witch and start to get extremely nervous and have to creep by her. The moments when she notices you, stops crying, and looks right at you were terrifying. But then, I learned how to crown and now whenever I see one I just pull out my shotgun and take her out with one shot, not even stopping to think. Maybe making her only die if two survivors crown at once or something?

And I also agree with your open environment idea. Now, I've played the levels so many times that I always know what's coming up and it's basically just memorization. The only real difference is sometimes the graveyard the gates are placed in different spots so you have to find your way out of a small and easy to navigate maze and in Swamp Fever you can choose one of two different routes that take you to the exact same place and are basically the same thing.

I won't mind if they don't have another one to be honest.

If they do however, I really really think they should set it in a different country (and even more interesting would be a 3rd/2nd world country). Just my 2c

I think a sanboxy type thing has some serious possibility. you could have you and some other people (proly more than 4) holed up in... somewhere ( like a mansion or that one building downtown that you always think would be awesome to repel zombies in. you know the one) and you would have to go out with a team and scavenge food, guns, etc. and then after so many scavenging missions, you have a climax where you got rescued via heli, nuclear submarine, or steam locomotive, and you go to the next city/town/ski resort.

Does anyone really think the same kind of characters and there unique personalities and the way they interact would transfer over to a 3rd person sandbox type? The humour built into the left for dead games is well suited for the FPS medium but i think as a 3rd person it would not work as well.

I really don't care what they do so long as they wait a few years (maybe 5) and release it with a new engine.
Well, and provided its not just a copy of the past two.

How bout we wait till they finish the other things they got going on? HL2:EP3, portal 2, the CS:S update, the tf2 updates, at the rate they create games l4d3 is only going to cause more trouble, not to mention there is no need for a l4d3 at least in the next 10 years.

Edit: not to mention they are also busy getting the Mac releases working right.

A third one would be completely unnecessary. The second added melee weapons and new infected, too many new infected will mess up versus and you can only have so many different weapons.

The only thing they can do is add new maps really, and they can always do DLC for that really.

It's a multiplayer shooter, please never make it a sandbox.

What they need to do is keep L4D2 but:

- More campaigns
- L4D1 port
- Game modes (Catch the flag)
- IF there are new infected then make the switch infected mod official with limit on use of given infected. I don't want to spend a game playing boomers, spitters and jockey's and a new support type and never touching a hunter.
- Longer maps than the usual 400-500 point maps.
- Nerf the melee weapons.
- Less Boomer Bile/Jockey ride down time.
- Better AI
- Team balancer (watches the players stats and assigns them)
- Versus Survival.
- Infected single player modes (I want to train my infected skills on actual game maps)

These are the main changes I can think about.

my best ideas for L4D3 would be as follows
1)instead of four survivors, you'd only have two, and can only play one of them (the other would be and NPC
2)instead of just being civilians one would be a physics scientist and the other would be his sidekick/love interest
3)instead of several different types of close range weapons, you'd only have one: a crowbar
4)you'll be able to carry many types of ranged weapons at the same time instead of just two
5)instead of infected, you'd be fighting an alien race that invaded earth
6)instead of having several different campaigns with no connecting story between them, the game would be one very long single campaign that never enters into cut-scenes and is viewed entirely from the players perspective

and instead of calling it L4D3
they should call it HL2E3: about damn time
