I hate parents who can't control their children. And some children deserve to get a smack upside the head. I got a few since I was a monster of a child (ADD) and I turned out fine. On the other hand, you look at parents who let their kids get away with anything and everything and those kids usually end up being juvenile delinquents.

Here is a little story:

I was on a plane, going to Tokyo, Japan on a Foreign exchange student when I was a Junior. Well there were these twins sitting next to me ( I was by the window ) and there mother was sitting on the right. Here is a little map:

XXX XXM kkm

X = random person
M = Mother
k = Kid
m = Me

Well anyway the one on the far right was a very polite and asked if I wanted a soda. I kindly said no thank you. Well his brother was the most annoying little shit I have ever met. He repeatedly punched me and yelled at me. I told his mother if she could take care of him, she told me to fuck off and then started to take out a bottle of vodka and drink it. Well the little shit then decided to bite me, so what did I do? I smacked the little bastard across the face. The mother looked at me and started to yell, "DONT YOU HIT MY CHILD!" Well I stood up and said "How about this, do some god damned parenting and stop drinking the FUCKING ALCOHOL YOU STUPID *****!" Luckily most of the other people did not speak english and were asleep. So the kid never moved or said another word the rest of the flight, he even apoligized before he left the plane.

(Note that the caps are when I raised my voice, the rest of it was in a assholish manner)

Was what I did wrong? Yes and no, when you get bitten you either hit and/or slap the area/person who did it to get him or her off of you, correct? However I guess it is wrong to hit a child who has been misbehaving. However that was how I was raised. I was hit and beaten whenever I did anything bad. (Well a few times it was because my father was drunk, but that is a story for another time and place.)

/End Story

TL;DR

Yes, the mother's part plays a giant role in it. The father can too, however most fathers I know are either working 24/7, never around there children, drinking all the time, or in the army.

Also It should not be against the law to hit a kid. Especially when they deserve to get smacked so hard that they have reaccuring nightmares about it.
You good sir, are fucking awesome.
I'll say :D

Great...another child hater here on the escapist. Did hating humanity in general get old for all of you?
Whats wrong with a little "Aggressive Expansion" or just branching out to one thing and leaving everything else alone? lol

The only thing that annoys me than the rude/crude/idiotic kids are the arrogant parents who go
"oh my child is never/would never/ blah blah blah"
the parents that feel that their kid can do no wrong despite the 13 other kids who bums have been bashed with wedgies.
Parents like that are tools. Their child owns them and knows it. It's kind of sad really.

The thing to remember is that blaming a kids attitude for a parents means you can blame the parents attitude on their parents. My parents don't ever hit anyone anymore, but I'm traumatized, of whistling. Like stick your fingers in your mouth whistling, because outside forces factor in too. What about the school system telling us all we're special? What about the teachers that can't discipline. Don't they get in trouble for making a child feel uncomfortable now? It's never cut and dry, damn.
Thats all well and good. but then there are the fearful parents whose very thoughts make the kid's clench in fear. and in turn take it out and re act around everything else. then the parent shows up poof, fearful and quiet.

but my main point was that the parents who would never even give the 1st thought that it might be them. many parents will defend and accuse other children. thats my main point of it.
the folks that dodge their responsibility by looking for scapegoats as to why children misbehave. "Oh wait? my boy misbehaved? you must have the wrong child...... Excuse me? my child bullied your child? well to bad because he's a liar!"

see? lol
All in all when shit like this hits the fan, i just hope i have a cup of coco and some popcorn for it all.

On a side note. IF i ever had my own bastard. I'd at least have fun with it. here's a great example....

Lets say your kid(s) are walking home and in front of an old woman. then you drive up close to them while still in view of said old women (if you have a van... then this works all the better!)
Roll down your window and go
"Hey kids, you like candy? I got some candy in the car. why not hope in and have some?"

As soon as they hop in, speed off like you just took the hope diamond!

As the police that may come and find your vehicles plate. well you and the kids will play dumb. what wrong did you do? tee hee.
Make sure to be wearing ripped shorts and a tight tee-shirt. In the mean time dress up as a pedophile with sexual assault charges when babysitting kids for Halloween, or buy some glitter and be a vampire.
Wouldn't overalls and a white tank top better fit the generic description? Yours sounds almost too realistic.
As for vamps.. The twilight saga and its fan clubs kinda ruined it for me. and zomebies are nice and fun what with jesus and all. Buuuuuuut i'm thinking Mummies are the next big thing. lol Those Brendon Fraiser flicks didn't glorify them enough.

I don't dare hate children. I am too fond of the child in myself.

I think all people have at least three sides: an emotional/animal side, a rational/calculating side, and a spiritual/philosophical side. In children, the rational side hasn't developed yet, and the animal and spiritual are highly visible. We love children for their spirituality (their optimism, innocence, charity, etc.), but hate them for their bestiality ("NO! WON'T GO! WANT TOY! NO! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" etc.), and we wish they'd hurry up and develop rationality.

Parenting is a tricky job, in which the parent must teach the child how to control their emotional side and how to draw out their innate spirituality. It's easy to screw up. Still, good parenting is not impossible, and there's no excuse for people not controlling their children. Bratty parents raising bratty kids. Shame on them.

The deliberately preserved death do have much unexplored potential. But, getting back to the concept of zombies, I'm fascinated with the original concept of zombies: humans brainwashed by voodoo magic into cheap slave labor. What has been done in modern horror with the concept of sleepwalking brainslaves?

You hate small children? Of all the demographics of people to hate on this planet you hate small children? Really? Children can be vile, irritating and a massive pain in the hole but they're children, they don't know any better. How about reserving some of that vitriol for people who can take responsibility for their actions?

I've read quite a few sweeping statements in the short time I've been on this forum, I want to know what's wrong with judging people on their actions or individual merits? Or even better, basing your views on personal, first hand experiences (you could even give examples to support your opinion). Sweeping generalisations make me despair.

I have a three year old son and he's a complete prick, that doesn't mean all children are, that would just be lazy stereotyping.

I suppose children are an easy target though, they aren't going to have a pop back at the edgy, embittered internet cynic are they?

I can't believe they made it illegal to waterboard kids as punishment, how else are they going to learn discipline

The old Greek adage of nothing in excess is a good marker here. Whether we believe children are first born evil or born good (the Pelagian heresy) or are just always annoying, we should keep in mind there must always be limits on punishments. A Dragon Kick is excessive, but noise pollution on a flight, in a shop or in the street is a burden upon others.

http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-oe-alkon24-2009nov24,0,2649186.story

There is also the problem of a lack of discipline and decorum in the young. Pride and emotional expression taken as sacrosanct.

http://www.city-journal.org/html/16_1_oh_to_be.html

If you are in the position to influence a child, you do not want them to become droogs. For your sake and society's sake. Discipline should not be taken too seriously, but it also should not be lacking, or a central means of teaching un-accompanied by wide-ranging learning and ethics. If a person cannot explain why a behaviour should be punished, they do not deserve to hit anyone.

I still detest children the most, the little dirty things of reproduction..

Though my girlfriend is quite avid about a kid one day, and if reality allows.. Well, I might have to get used to ONE. (I suppose just one wont me want to slam into a wall 50 times over out of agony)

I don't have muct time for the kids in todays society as most of them are rude and uncouth to everyone and just have no manners which is a sign of the times i'm afraid.
It is also not fair on the kids who are well behaved and polite/curteous as they normally get tarred with the same brush.
With so many kids turning to crime and drugs at very early ages, where do we lay the blame? is it the parents fault who are penalised by law for punishing them or is it the government who do nothing as they are underage?
With so many violent crimes committed by youngsters nowadays and with no real deterents imposed by law, it is becoming more frequent and unless we get tough on them, it will only get worse.
Re-introducing National Service for anyone who leaves school and just bums around without finding work after 6 months seems like a damn fine idea, especially as it will boost the Armed Forces, give them a job/career and self discipline and respect.

Why not just title the thread 'I detest small children...'? What's Yahtzee got to do with it? It smacks of hiding behind someone you'd like to emulate, an attempt to demonstrate like mindedness with someone you'd like to be considered a kindred spirit of. Especially in this environment where I'd imagine Yahtzee is well thought of.

I hate women but I wouldn't start a thread with 'Like Ted Bundy, I detest women...'. Stand proud and tall in your distaste for children, don't hide behind Yahtzee's skirt.

They all annoy me. Even without mothers, I hate small kids. The only kid I like is my 3 months old rottweiler, because she is actually smart enough to obey some basic commands. Human kids are stupid from birth till... ever, in some cases. Dogs can at least be trained.

I was genuinely surprised yesterday when I went to see Planet 51 and didn't have a whiny kid in the background talking and asking what was going on.

Society does have this ridiculous belief that all children are perfectly innocent and it MUST STOP. Parents must take responsibility, but we need to realise that some children are just shits!
Watching the Jeremy Kyle Show exposes you to bad parenting in many forms. My most recent memory was a man who disappeared from his son's life for sixteen years, having possibly faked his own death, became an alcoholic, and only got a relationship with his son because he'd gone on the show at another time to dispute with his (then) girlfriend.
How is that supposed to help anyone?
