He's not labeling all cops bad, hes labeling all americans assholes. He's a shame to the nation and should be booted to a country where disrespecting a cop means a instant ass beating.

Have you ever personally known any police officers? Well, I have, and let me tell you they get no respect from your average person on the street. Police officers are people too, and that disrespect they deal with every day grates on them just like it would you. This moron deserved the tickets he received.

I have known a few Police officers myself and one thing i have noticed is that they dont anything to to earn respect while on duty, i see them break the laws they are supposed to protect all the time...

I don't have anything against the police, but everyone should have the right to disrespect any kind of authority in a "free" country. I prefur to flip off politicians, news anchors, rich businessmen, & celebrities.

All he did was wave a finger while the policeman essentialy waved his dick back by making the man pay a fine for it.

Freedom of Speech does not mean "immunity for using it".

Feeedom of Speech is merely a right to not be hindered to express whatever you want. After you have expressed yourself however, you can get your butt thrown in the slammer for it.

right to free speech = being able to beleive what you want

this does not apply to insults or threatening people ,despite the right to free speech there are concequenses to bullying or saying death threats.

the right to free speech should not be taken litraly

I couldn't agree with you more. This guy wasn't expressing freedom of speech so much as just doing it for attention.

Are you people for real? He had every right to do what he did, he didn't break any laws and the officer completely overstepped his boundaries. If you want to walk around to world giving the finger to people, then you are allowed to, its your freedom and its how you express your self. Yeah the guys a dick, it obviously not a cool thing to do, but he is allowed to do it. The cop could have easily ignored him, its not his job to issue tickets just because people don't like him, he is after all there to protect and serve. You cant force respect. Taking money out of the equation, i hope the guy wins.

I do hear what he is saying about how flipping the bird to someone should not escalate something when things are still civil and understanding. But this guy did seem to be provoking the sheriffs, since neither one was doing anything besides simply driving, and he made the choice to flip off the cop for nothing other than, as far as we know, because he was a cop.

I don't think it should be a problem to flip off a cop. Cops can be assholes. I do think the majority of them are looking out for my well-being and are just doing their jobs. But I've been to too many protests and other demonstrations to think that its unrealistic for a cop to be an asshole for no other reason other than just being a dick.

Non-aggressive, non-violent protest or opposition to something, like giving the finger isn't always the most civil or courteous thing to do and might reflect badly on you. Lack of courtesy and lack of calm.

At the same time, it reflects badly on a cop to take it too personally and escalate the situation into something to make them feel better or to act out of anger. Sets a bad example for all cops. Shows a lack of discipline and lack of skills necessary for that sort of job.

This is a case that made him seem more suspicious and almost badgering in his repeated flipping off of a sheriff. At the same time, I do not think that giving out tickets and levying fines is the way to deal with it.

This is actually not true, I am not American so I don't know how exactly the law is like there but in Iceland where I live (and in most of Europe in general I think) you cannot badmouth a police officer without facing something like a fine (assuming you don't stop despite the police officer telling you to do so). After all, the police is there to uphold the law, so if the people were allowed to badmouth and ignore the police at will then it would defeat the purpose of having the police there in first place.
I was just kidding bro.

Just some jackoff that thinks he is rebellious and standing against the man when he is actually just being an asswipe. Hope the judge gives him another fine for wasting the court's time.

Oh I've met people like this bloke before, doing whatever kind of ridiculous, insulting crap they want with nery a thought for who may be hurt or offended and in defence they pull the old free country routine.

Just to keep these peoples numbers down I would gladly live in a world run by the combine (And for the opportunity to be like Gordon Freeman).

He's intentionally being a dick, it kinda seems like he wanted this to happen. And not all cops are bad, he's just saying fuck you for being you when he flips them off for nothing.
