I could've swore that you could technically give a Policeman the Birdie and get no 'Official' punishment.
Of course that was something I heard off-hand...

Either way, I hope he loses.

Notice how he only got 2 Tickets for 3 Birds?
"I think he just gave you the finger".
"Ah well, happens all the time".
"He did it again".
"OK, I think he's getting a ticket".
"And again".
"Oh, now that's just taking the piss".
That last line had me rolling on the floor dude! :-D

OT: If a country has a justice system that takes this sort of thing seriously, then I believe that that country is in need of reform...

I wish I could listen to the video but my speakers are broke so I have no idea what was said in it....but from what you people have said....

I don't agree that the guy has the right to insult a policeman because I don't think anyone has the right to insult anyone but the policeman shouldn't have issued tickets for no just reason...after all he is there to uphold the law and shouldn't dole out punishment because you don't like someone.

Should the policeman find a valid law was broken by the guy then I have no qualms about the tickets issued. Even if the law is so obscure no-ones ever heard of it....

Hmm, isn't this like disrespecting the mods and getting banhammered? I mean, what was the point? Was there really some profound meaning behind trolling some guy who happens to have the power to put you behind bars? If you want to protest for freedom and not being oppressed, do it in a way that makes people actually care, and doesn't make you look like a fat fucktard.

Seriously, I hate the constitution for exactly this. Is free speech really worth enduring these douchebags who claim they can say whatever they want?

In the UK they'd do him for driving without due care and attention as hes flipping off the officer instead of consentrationg on what he should be doing: Driving.

"Exercising his right to free speech"... Looks like that's all the exercise he's ever had.

You have to think to yourself for a second, this man thought:

"Hey i'm going to flip off some cops, this can't possibly go wrong!"

I hate how stupid/ignorant people are sometimes.

There is no way he will win, if he does satan will have to ice skate to work.

It will just open the flood gates for people to copy him and get a nice pay check off the state by provoking the people who swore to protect.

I think this is why all the people I know hate Americans, this is what we see ... the crazies.

I'm just confused why police officers get so offended by someone giving them the finger.
They should be used to things that are worse than that withhout going emotional.

The guy is an idiot, but he does have a point. Polices officers shouldn't be able to give tickets because someone personally offended them. They should just shrug it off, like everyone else has to do.
I agree. If I got a ticket for everyone I've flipped off (mostly the idiotic drivers of the Charleston area), I'd have to do horrible horrible things to pay them off. But no, everyone gets flipped off, gets a "f*** you", and we just move on. I don't see how this form of disrespect warrants a fine.

But on the other hand, the judicial system would function a lot better if there wasn't so much trivial bullshit like this. So which is the lesser evil? Probably the one abusing that system that has important work to do.

I don't get it....

Why did he do it in the first place? Was he claiming to challenge authority? I seriously can't get my head round why he did it at all.

All he has done is swear at someone with no provocation. Had that not been a copper he wouldn't have flipped them off & if he HAD flipped off some random stranger he would no doubt become a victim of some road rage maniac.

No matter where you live if you swear at someone for no reason there's likely to be concequences. This dude will get the shit kicked out of him one day & I doubt it'll be the police doing it

EDIT:

Completely agree with this

EDIT 2:

The police department should countersue that idiotic sack of shit for wasting their time with his shenanigans.

Or the judge hearing the case should look him in the eye, flip him off and say "Case dismissed. And before you file a complaint because I flipped you off, you should think real hard about what you were just now trying to do.".
I burst into laughter at this.

Jolly good show sir!

Yeah really, your a cop of course your going to be hated, getting the bird is the least of you worries.
Plus your allowed profanity, even when directed at a police officer, this has been proven time and again in court cases from the US district courts to the US SC.

While I am all for free speech, I think understanding why this man gave up the bird is important. If he's just saying "Screw you, authority," then he's got some karma coming back to him. Not like, alot, or anything. Maybe two tickets worth. Rude gestures elicit a responce from anyone. He chose someone that has authority to respond. I've done it myself on a smaller scale; security guard.

I have to admire the balls the man has for attempting to uphold his rights to free speech in a society that has perverted the concept to such a degree that it's not recognizable from it's origins. The fact that he seems to have his values on the subject in order and is not requesting a sum for his law suit (instead, a values effort) tells me he isn't out to take a bite out of the system.

But again, understanding his motives I think is a critical point that I believe the judge will look at, and will effect the outcome of the trial.

That is the kind of abuse of our constitutional rights that makes me sick. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. He deserves the fine, the police are more brave and well intentioned than most will ever know, and for someone to show them such disrespect is absurd

This is all about freedom of expression, the cop didn't like what he was expressing ("Fuck you!") so he gave him the tickets, an abuse of power in my mind. He wasn't hindering the officer's ability to do his job and he wasn't threatening him, which makes these tickets uncalled for. A cop can't arrest someone just because they don't like what they say (Either verbally or with 'Symbolism') much like flag burning, it is symbolic speech meant to protest authority. Although I find both of these types of actions to be quite stupid and pointless I respect anyone's right to engage in them.

I'd like to know why he was flipping them the bird in the first place, or even if there was a reason at all.

EDIT: I don't hope he wins any money in is case though, his idiocy got him into this situation in the first place. I just hope the tickets get thrown out.

If he didn't commit a crime, heshiuldnt gave gotten a ticket, if somewhere, it says that flicking offf cops is a crime, then by all means fine him. If the cop gave him tickets cause he was pissed, then he didn't deserve them, regardless of his douchebaggerery.

Disrespecting a police officer is actually illegal. And I'm not sure about this, but I think flipping off anyone could land you a ticket for aggressive behaviour on the road or something.

This. If he was just suing to get the tickets canceled, then I could have some sympathy for him.
