She was beautiful in her era. I'm sure nowadays she isn't considered so beautiful.
Looks and the definition of "beauty" changes ever era.

Well, Jodie Foster has a Bachelor degree in Literature at Yale's, magna cum laude, but that doesn't really make her more hot for me. I like looks and brains.TylerC said:QFT; and she wasn't filled with 'plastic' or silicone either.Furburt said:Oh yes, very attractive. And actually had some body to look at, rather than todays supernaturally thin idea of beauty.
Edit:That's why I LOVE Natalie Portman. I mean, she went to Harvard.Julianking93 said:Sarah Chalke is so hot...
She's the perfect dorky yet extemely hot nerd.
Fixed. And I'd have to agree, she probably was in the top of beautiful women (outside of the realm of clevery hidden plastic surgery and/or photoshop and/or just advanced make up).sms_117b said:This over and over again this, I mean, I've found various old magasines lying around and the women in them look as beautiful as they do today in magasines, but without the aid of photo shop, says a lot about companies confidence in their own beauty products!Doug said:Do I think she IS beautiful, no, because she's a rotted corpse.
Do I think she WAS beautiful, yeah, actually, she looked very pretty in an era before airbrushing and photoshop.
By a long way I'd call Marilyn Monroe one of the most beautiful women to have walked the Earth.

Hell, why not? Age looks good on some.Random argument man said:Incredible Bullshitting Man said:She was, kinda, but I still prefer Audrey Hepburn. Maybe I´m just old-fashioned or the standards of beauty haven´t really changed that much, but even today she´s just something else.

I don't why she's a bit more attractive with a cigarette picture than a non-cigarette picture...
On Monroe: I have a small weakness for blondes. So yeah, I do think she's beautiful.
Thanks for bringing her up. I didn't know her but I have to agree she's quite something, wow.hotacidbath said:Marilyn was very beautiful, but I feel like Myrna Loy gets so left out. She was a great actress and had fantastic comedic timing along with being quite pretty.

Maybe it's because she looks more sophisticated with a cigarette. Then again, it suits our "gentilhomme" personalities. Don't you think?Incredible Bullshitting Man said:Let's snip to the part of:
But you´re right about the cigarette thing. Strange, and I don´t even like cigarettes.
Indeed it does, my good fellow. Indeed it does.Random argument man said:Maybe it's because she looks more sophisticated with a cigarette. Then again, it suits our "gentilhomme" personalities. Don't you think?
AS unpopular as she might be, stand up comic Jo Brand (she's a fairly big woman!) had a similar theory, if slightly simpler, that the fashion industry aims at size zero because the majority being gay men, they're designing to fit teenage boys instead of women, purely because they're designing what would be sexy for them to see worn.badgersprite said:I think you're right about it not being the opinion of the majority, but rather an opinion that's been constantly reinforced and pushed onto us until we consciously accept it as society's ideal.
I actually have a (boring as batshit) theory that the perception of stick-thin female beauty in the fashion industry is a direct result of the fact that there is a high proportion of gay men in the industry, and very thin women don't produce as much oestrogen once they get below a particular weight level and instead produce androgen which effectively mimics testosterone, making them more sexually appealing to those male-attracted individuals in the fashion industry.
