Mass bird and fish deaths worldwide!

So, I've just been reading up on this strange occurance that's been going on in the past week or so.
Mass deaths have occured worldwide of select species of fish and birds, usually resulting in birds raining from the skies and fish carpeting the beaches. This phenomina has also affected a species of crab off the shores of the UK.

Many scientist are baffled about what has been happening, and rightly so, since it seems to defy all logic, although there are a few leads within the story.

So Escapists, what do you think is happening to these fish and birds? Is it the end of the world, or an massive occurance of toxic algae?

I'm a little worried. This is far from natural and I refuse to dismiss all the occurrences around the world as coincidence. I don't know what it is exactly, but it can't be good. I won't truly be freaked out until an entire town of people suddenly drops dead, however.

I would posit an exerpt from the Book of Revelation regarding such things happening, but much less subtle things would have come to pass before this if it where what would be happening in the end of days- assuming how I'm interpreting the passages is correct.

Something similar happened a few years ago, with large numbers of birds just dropping out of the sky. I know they had to close downtown Austin at one point for it. That's precedent, which means we should really only be shocked when it's not happening.
