Verahl walked out of his office and to the main desk in the lobby. He was looking through some documents as he shuffled along, completely oblivious to his surroundings, snapping out of it when he felt his toe stub the edge of the desk. He cursed and placed the papers down on the desk. He looked over, towards the terminal sitting in the centre, and the chair that was deserted behind it. He sighed, remembering how much he missed seeing Zar sitting behind it.
"You know, you can read those sitting down boss," a female voice said behind him.
Verahl turned around to see Liz turning the corner from the stairs, holding two cups of tea in her hands. She handed one of them to Verahl while she sipped the other.
"You know, if you need the intercom, I'm sure Keith or one of the Quarians would be happy to put it in your office instead of on my desk," she said with a smile.
"That's not the first time I've heard that," Verahl said as a grin crossed his face.
"Yeah, well, what do you need them for today anyways?"
"Nothing from them. Well, I need to speak with Raven, but I'll get him myself."
"Well I'm sure they'll be happy for--- Wait, you're here to give me work, aren't you?"
Verahl grinned while Liz sighed.
"Nothing complicated, just need you get a hold of those Salarians. I want to know if they've gotten the information yet."
Liz nodded and sat down at the desk. She put on a headset and activated her terminal. She started to scan through a list of contacts as Verahl walked towards the stairwell. He headed down into the common room, and could already hear conversations being had by different members. He turned the corner and looked out across it, seeing most of the company present.
To one side of the room, Keith was sitting with the Quarians Sal and Zelios. Keith was the company's new mechanic who had a massive passion for anything that moved. He often tried to compete with the Quarians with his own little inventions that he would create. His knowledge of engines and spacecrafts was especially impressive, often times greater then the Quarians. However, they always were able to top him if it involved a computer.
By the kitchen, Lux and Meer were both drinking, trying to put down more then the other while trying to coax Dray into trying ryncol. Lux was always happy to have another Krogan in the company, and had made quick friends with Meer. Since Moloa had left, Lux had needed someone new to compete with, and the Krogans were always now trying to prove which was better, even in the most trivial things.
In the far corner sat Karnak, talking with Yossar and Santius. Karnak was the only other Batarian in the company, but was quite different from Verahl. He still held a hatred for certain races that had been ingrained into him since he was a child. He suppressed most of it from coming out however, choosing to simply not act upon his thoughts for the sake of the company.
He looked around the room, most of the others were there but a few faces were missing, off elsewhere probably, or maybe downstairs Verahl reasoned. He scanned for Raven though, and finally picked him out. He was with Ocara and the new Asari, Thayna, who had just joined a few weeks ago. He walked towards them, and tapped on Raven's shoulder.
"There's a problem I need you to take care of," he said, interupting something Ocara was going on about.
