"Yeah I guess you're right Keith. I'm surprised I was hired for something other than low wage repair man. Or slave." Zelios said with a chuckle barely grasping what he had said."So what was your ship like?"He asked sal leaning back in his chair and rocking it."I suppose most ships are alike, but every single one is unique in one way or another."

"Yeah from what I've heard they are like that on the Citadel, except against Quarians, it's quite clear that they don't like us. But at least here people act like that towards everyone else to." Sal said as she sat back and threw her arm over the back of the chair she was sitting in and crossing her legs. She turned to Zelios . "I was born aboard one of the few military ships, not many room for families, so it was mostly just pilots and marines. The last 25 percent was non-military and kids. Along with the basic everyone's taught, we get some training as marines, what else are we gonna learn?" She asked with a shrug. "In any case the only thing really different form anther ship is that we carried our training weapons around all day."

"Hmm...Interesting. No one on my ship other than the Military cops had weapons,I mean my dad sometimes brought in weapons he was conscripted to repair, but thats the most I've seen." The prospect of a military ship had peaked his interest,"Have I ever said what I was exiled for? I know I've said I was exiled but I can't remember if I've ever shared the exact details."

The death of Mayli had been a revitalizing experience for the Aegis corporation. In the weeks that had followed, they had gained new recruits and had finally returned to their home. The problem with the Pack had seemed to blow over and all was right in the world. Ocara had taken the job of being Mister friendly and showing the newbies around and helping them with the transition in to an established company while he had taken to his second in command role pretty well. Feeling Ver tap him on the shoulder, he heard him say, " There's a problem I need you to take care of. " Turning away from Ocara, he answered, "What do you need me to do Bossman?"

Karnak's short description struck some chords with Yossar, too many, his paranoia said, but he brushed it off. "Yep, it seems most people don't wind up here unless somethings gone wrong. For instance, I'm here because some bits of my past want to catch up with me. But you know, you could find worse groups for this rats nest of a station." Yossar then turned when he heard Lux fall to the ground.

"Never saw a Krogan fall down with emptying a clip or two," Yossar joked, along with Batarians, he had also killed more Krogans than he had talked with, to this list included Quarians, Vorcha, and even Humans where a possible toss up, " I'll tuck him in."

Yossar walked over to Lux nudged him with his foot to make sure he was really passed out. He then turned up his biotics and casted a mass effect field around Lux, causing him to float like there was no gravity. He grabbed Lux by the foot and began pulling him along like he was a large Krogan balloon, taking him upstairs and to his bed. He the lowerd Lux on the bed and began to walk out, then decided to move a bin next to Lux's face just in case. He then went back downstairs to join the others, " Excellent, five years of Biotics training has turned me into a very effective nanny. Where's the Asari? I don't recall the Krogan drinking himself into comatose when she's around." By the Asari Yossar meant Moloa, by this time he had learned everyone's name, but still called them by their race name. It was habit he had developed in the military to keep himself detached from a new group, until he knew they weren't all going to die in the first real fight.

"I don't believe you did, no. I figured it wasn't our business. Seems like exile is a touchy subject for all involved." Sal said "And the weapons weren't much, the trainers would hook up our suits with sensors and would reenact a small amount of pain when we were 'shot', nothing bad mind you, more like a sting than a real wound."

"I may tell the story later, If you ever want to hear it, It's not a happy one but then again most stories nowadays aren't." He rocked his chair farther back."I'm actually enjoying my exile, Theres a lot more freedom out here than in there, Never really had any friends my mother is still up there bless her but she's about the only one that probably even cares."

Verahl:

"It's rather simple. Barzan is saying vandals have hit his store once again. He's talking about hiring others to watch the market. Just a quick meeting to reassure him things will be handled," Verahl said as indicated for Raven to follow him.

The two of them walked up the stairs and out of the base. They started to walk down the streets towards the markets. The locals made room for each of them as they passed, some recognizing their faces but most recognizing the armor and the meaning of it. Things had changed in the past few months. The impact Archangel had made on the station was immense. He had only been on Omega for a short while, but in that time he had caused a major upset in the power that was held. Blood Pack, Eclipse, and the Blue Suns were each still crippled by the damage done. Bases had been destroyed, countless soldiers had been lost, and the leadership to each of them was still struggling to reform. Most of their assets and holds on the station were quickly severed as Aria and several other independent factions worked together to drive most of the remnants out, leaving Omega to be once again divided up amongst the strongest. Before, Aegis simply worked as a mercenary company, leaving much of the territory around them to be ruled by a gang funded by the Eclipse. However, since their destruction, Aegis was able to fight against the local gang and destroy it, coming to hold much of the district as their own.

In essence, Omega was easiest to identify as being close to a feudal state. Since there was no organized authority, districts were ruled by armed gangs that would run the area how they saw fit. While some remained autonomous, having locals work together to keep their district safe, most simply paid a small fee to whoever was able to keep the district secure. Most of these collectors would normally be simple fronts for bigger organizations. Aria's Empire was the biggest, having over a third of Omega under her protection and control. While her personal Empire might have been too large, her money could be traced to dozens of other gangs that would control different areas and make up her rule. This was also true for the other major powers in Omega, the Blue Suns, Blood Pack, and Eclipse. Each of them had much of their power linked from a network of gangs. If one of their territories was attacked or harmed, the other gangs would help defend it. Since the destruction of both a large amount personal forces was destroyed alongside their leadership, Omega was drawn into a power vacuum. The gangs that used to serve together were slowly cut off from one another as organization and structure was slashed. This weakness was capitalized on by much of Omega. Many districts now saw new leaders from smaller gangs, mercenary companies, or even by the people themselves that overthrew the previous powers. Those too weak to stand up for themselves against the remnants were funded by Aria, in an attempt to control even more of Omega. Now the Blue Suns, Blood Pack, and Eclipse barely hold anything on Omega. Small numbers remain, running few districts, with the attempts to reinforce them being crushed.

Verahl reflected on this, knowing now that if Aegis was to continue to hold this district, its future would have to be in expansion. The weak would soon be crushed or assimilated into stronger companies, until once again, only the strongest remained. It was apparent to him that by the end of the struggle, only a few powers would once again remain with vast networks extending throughout Omega.

Might as well try to come out on top.

The doors to the butcher opened, as Verahl and Raven walked inside. A small ringing was heard, notifying Barzan customers were in the store. The old Batarian walked out from the back towards the counter, but his voice could first be heard coming from around the corner.

?Just a second,? he yelled, from the back before he came out. ?Welcome to my butcher, is there anything--- About damn time you showed up! This is the second time now I?ve complained about these vandals! Why haven?t you dealt with them already?!?

He turned and glared at Raven.

?And you, always the damn humans that are the fault of this! I tell you, its those boys that go through the alleys. Think they?re a gang or something. They?re filth! All of them! They do nothing more then drink and cause trouble! I want them taken care of, you hear me?!?

Verahl sighed, and nodded slowly.

?We?ll have someone look into it Barzan,? he said slowly, trying his hardest to sound like he seriously cared about the matter.

While most other storeowners would take care of smaller problems like these themselves, Barzan expected it to be handled for him. Verahl had decided early on however, that it would be best to at least humor the old Batarian, and have someone occasionally do what he requested so he didn?t come storming into the base, brandishing a frying pan and threatening the Krogans.

?You better!? exclaimed Barzan as he stomped into the back once again. The sounds of a cleaver hitting a hard board could be heard now coming from there, as he worked out his frustration on the meat.

With that, Verahl nodded to Raven, as the two walked out of the store. They walked back down the street from the market towards their base. As they passed by a small café, Verahl started to explain to Raven why it was sometimes best to do things such as this when they weren?t expected to.

?You see, it builds up respect and acceptance in the rest of the community,? Verahl said as he continued his rant. ?We have to build up trust with them if we?re going to hold this district for a long term. It?s best to show them we?ll at least cooperate and help them.?

The doors to their base opened for them as Verahl wrapped up his speech.

?Anyways, just remember why we?re doing this right now. If we?re going to expand, we should at least make sure we have a solid hold here. Now, go on and spread the word to the others that we?ll be heading out tomorrow to meet with another Company. We won?t be heading out to kill them or anything. Instead this is going to be the start of a few talks to see if we can work out a beneficial alliance between our factions. Still, in case things go sour, I want everyone prepared. Now go back to the others. Work is done for today.?

Thayna gestured dismissively. "Don't worry about it. I can deal with rudeness." She leant back against the wall and folded her arms. Looking at Ocara, she said, "So, what's someone like you doing in a mercenary company on Omega?" She wouldn't usually care enough to ask a question like that, or bother to listen to the answer. But it was odd to see a turian so young outside their military.

Ocara glanced behind him and was amazed to see that Lux had been out-drank, how that was possible was a total mystery to him but still funny nonetheless. He turned back to Thayna to answer her question, chuckling slightly at Lux as he did so.

"I never really fit in when I was part of the military" replied Ocara, his smile darkening slightly but otherwise remaining. He adopted a stance similar to Thayna's and continued.

"Anyway, I prefer merc work, better money, flexible hours and colourful co-workers you know? But anyway, how'd you come to join our motley crew?"

Thayna studied the turian's face. The slight shift in his smile told her it was a touchy issue. While her curiousity was piqued, she decided to let it go, and not bother asking any more questions about it. She didn't want to get in anyone's bad books when she was still new to the company.

"Omega's been shaken up recently. All the major gangs of the Terminus have been panicking over it." She grinned. "I couldn't pass up the chance to be involved with whatever's going to happen here."

Raven walked into the common room as his mind played over what Verahl had told him. If we can get a secure hold on the area then whose knows how much we can expand. Hopefully things tomorrow won't go south. Looking at each of them, he spoke "Ok people we got a mission. Tomorrow we are going to meet with another company to see if we can work out a mutually beneficial relationship between us. Things seemed to be on the level but as a precaution, be prepared in case things decide to go south like the transport mission did." Looking at the incredibly drunk Krogan, he shook his head. "Make sure Lux doesn't destroy anything in a drunken rage."

Basara gave Raven a thumbs up. "Don't worry mate, I already prepared the sedatives. Though the idiot drank so much, I'm more afraid his already tiny brain's gonna just give up the ghost. Anyway, do we know who the other group is, and what they control?"

"Wow, you are a really pleasant guy" said Ocara, his head inclined towards Basara but still leaning against the wall and bearing its trademark smile.

"But yeah what do we know about these fellows? Can we trust 'em? If not I'm sure me and Esten can set up in a nearby building, shit goes down, pop, pop, pop" he continued, turning his head to Raven and making appropriate hand gestures to accompany the 'pops'.

Dolog Meer woke up where he had last sat down, his omni-tool still playing various news blurbs. He clutched his head as he stood up, nearly falling directly onto a terrified Turian nearby. He managed to catch himself, and stood back up. He went over to the kitchen area and began to rummage through the pantry for food. After very nearly eating a chip from the dextro side, he gave up and called out to the others.

"Now I remember why I hate ryncol, leaves me so damn hungry. Where'd Verahl go?"

Basara shrugged. "The last time Lux went on a drunken rampage, I was putting the walls back together for weeks. It's rather hard to mortar dust together, as I think you can imagine. This is only a little bit revenge." Basara grinned and laughed. "Hell, ask Esten, Lux got off easy. Back in Apex, I used to sleep with my gun by my head. Grunt we called 'em, the most drunk ass krogan you ever seen in your life. One day, he came barging into my room in a drunk rage, he had easy, 5 hypodermic needles in him before he could take another step. Wouldn't need the bloody things if they couldn't do so much damage." From Basara, this was a rather high accolade. "Anyway, I think Verahl went into his office, Meer."

"Well he left with Raven a little while ago, and now Ravens back telling us we're meeting with another company tomorrow to set up an agreement." Sal called back to the hungover Krogan. She turned to Raven. "Understood Ray, hopefully this will turn out just fine."

Karnak:

Karnak got up from the chair he was sitting in and walked towards Ocara. He leaned on the wall beside him. He crossed his arms, as his eyes rested on Raven, his head tilted to his right while he stared, before turning towards Ocara.

"Ask the Human when we'll be starting tomorrow." he muttered.

"Ask the Human when we'll be starting tomorrow."

Thayna frowned when she heard that and leaned forward from her place next to Ocara, so she could see round the turian and look at the Batarian, Karnak.

"Any reason why you can't ask him yourself?"

Karnak:

"I do believe I was not addressing you," Karnak said, his head again now tilted slightly to the right. "I would suggest you stay out of affairs that aren't yours."
