Meer chuckled. "You say that like I'd let him get far enough to take a shot. Krogan are tough, but we're not stupid. Most of us, anyway."

Esten:

Esten grinned, remembering the moment. He watched as Basara had lowered his weapons and kneeled before the Slavers. While Basara exaggerated the range, most of the other facts were right. The Slavers had him, surrounded, but didn't have their guns on him also. They simply held them, thinking they had won. Esten fired the first shot at the leader, then simply locked the other three as they stood stunned. The second and third were looking around, trying to determine the origin of the shots. The final had hidden behind cover, but Basara bolted at that moment, providing the opportunity for Esten to find the spot he needed while the Slaver tried to stop Basara.

"The intended to hit between..." Esten said, showing the pride he took in his work.

That's the problem with Krogan. They stay around longer then a few hundred years, and they start to view themselves as invincible. Wonder what he'll say when he's eventually proven wrong.

"You say that like I'd let him get far enough to take a shot. Krogan are tough, but we're not stupid. Most of us, anyway."

Esten laughed, one of the few moments he actually seemed truely entertained.

"And you say it as though I'd not start a few hundred metres away."

Meer made a vague wave of his hand, dismissing Esten's claim. The gauntlet had been thrown, and he wasn't about to let Esten walk away thinking himself superior to a krogan such as himself.

"Stealth is all it takes to make a sniper useless. Everyone always thinks a krogan's too big to sneak around. Then the pain hits them like an anvil. Karnak probably thought krogan couldn't move without drawing attention to themselves too. And look what happened to him."

Esten:

"Stealth is also a snipers most vital asset. Laying in an open position waiting for a counterattack is not how things are done."

He walked over to the kitchen and grabbed a small red fruit from the bowl sitting on the counter.

"After all, no one knows who's sights their in, until it's far to late," he said, as he took a large bite out of the fruit.

Basara wagged a finger. "Ah ah ah, why do you think Esten and I were paired together all the time? We cover up each other's weaknesses. I shoot the building until the supports are full of bullet holes, while he gets anyone trying to hide and suprise me with a bullet between the eyes, or I cover the entrances while he takes out the target. Stealth doesn't count for much when a trigger-happy human is covering all possible entrances. And a few impossible ones. Someone actually tried to get past me by crawling through the ceiling." Basara laughed at the memory.

"And another thing." Meer said, gesturing to the Revenant gun on his back. "Killing slavers is one thing, but no krogan I've met goes down in one shot. Even if you hit him in the neck from that far away, you'd better pray he doesn't have one of these monsters."

He removed it from its strap and laid it down on a small table. "Powerful, fast, and accurate with the right upgrades. All you have to do is point this thing in the last cardinal direction you saw your enemy and pull the trigger. I can guarantee at least one round's going to make contact."

Esten:

Esten yawned; he had seen a few Revenants in his time. Verahl still had his kept in his office. Powerful machine gun, one of the best produced. Also messy, loud, and inaccurate, perfect firing twenty shots when only one would be needed.

"The reason you've never met a Krogan that can survive a properly placed shot, is simply because no Krogan has had a chance to talk about it afterwards," Esten said coolly.

"Well, I all think we've learnt something today haven't we?" said Ocara as he stood from the wall, his trademark grin stretched across his face. Stretched a little and yawned, checking the time on his Omni-tool as he did so.

"As much as I'd like to participate in this discussion or listen to the hate-speech when Karnak comes back, I think I'll go for a walk"

And with that he was off, leaving the company members to their disputes. First of all however, he made a quick detour into his barrack, where he slid off his armour, replacing it with a semi-stylish black suit and picked up a little black bag from under his bed, slinging it over his shoulder and then he exited his barrack, whistling as best as a Turian could and left the HQ for the new Omega evening.

Thayna walked across the room and sat down at one end of the couch. She sat with her legs crossed and her arms resting on the back of the seat.

"Changing the subject for a moment, not that I want to interupt you two squaring up to one another, but what was wrong with Karnak? I'm not used to seeing Batarian bigotry directed at races other than humans."

Basara shrugged. "Eh, who cares? I don't really think it matters unless it erupts into violence. Maybe he's just got an inflated ego, or had a bad experience with a Krogan before. Unless you ask him though, chances are you'll never find out."

Raven shook his head as Meer and Karnak left the office. Attitudes like that can be ruinous to this company, be it our reputation or on a mission. Hopefully they will be able to keep it in check. Looking at Verahl, he spoke "What do we know about the company we are meeting with tomorrow? Are they roughly the same size? Do they have some kind of specialization that we can exploit?"

Verahl:

"They're between 15 to 20 members, and they're essential a regular merc organization. They call themselves the Void Riders. I hadn't heard of them before, but their leader is the one who wants to open up discussions between us."

"If I ask him, it will end in violence. I don't find racism to be an endearing quality in people." She shrugged and looked around at Basara. "As long as he doesn't stab anyone in the back, I suppose I have nothing to worry about."

Karnak:

Karnak turned and walked out of the base. Deciding he'd rather not face the others at the moment. He leaned against the wall nearby, and cracked his fingers.

Fucking gossips.

He knew how often they'd talk behind his back. He didn't care about their opinions of him. As long as they didn't shoot him or leave him to die when they were on a mission they could think whatever they wanted of him. He pulled a pack of cigarrettes out from his pocket, and knocked one out into his hand. He lit the end of it, and took a long drag of it.

The only thing I give Humans credit for...

Then he saw Ocara making his way out of the base, trying to whistle. He couldn't hold the laughter in as he watched Ocara walking with a large bounce in his step.

"Wow spiff, you don't clean up half bad."

Esten:

Esten watched as Ocara excused himself. He was done arguing with the Krogan anyways. He walked towards the exit of the base.

"And I'm going to a cafe," he called behind him.

He met Karnak on the way out and wished him goodbye and good luck before walking out into the the streets of Omega. He walked down a ways, making sure neither Karnak or Ocara were able to see him before ducking into an alley.

Good, Karnak's distracting him for a moment.

He watched from the depths of the alley, waiting for Ocara to pass.

Is he going back yet again?

"Nah, just a cheap of the rack number this" said Ocara, embarrassment was sneaking into his voice but otherwise he was keeping his composure. He smiled to the Batarian and leant in slightly, as if to tell him some dangerous secret.

"But if its a crime to look this good, well, I gotta watch my back"

He leant back and laughed for a moment, Karnak was actually a nice guy when you got to know him... And if you weren't Human but still, he was only responding to his nature and while Ocara couldn't condone racism, he could at least tolerate it if it didn't get in the way of their professionalism, like it had inside.

"Don't let the others get to you man, but you could at least try to not be as cold, never know, you might find out that Humans and Krogans are really ok... Well Humans at least"

Basara yawned. " Sorry about that. Anyway, it doesn't matter. People will always be afraid of the unknown. Hell, look at all of human history; I doubt you will find a better teacher than that. I can actually understand some of the racism- my species crushes everything in its way to get what it wants. I doubt I'm an exception to that rule, if I think about it. Doesn't mean it's right, just explains a little of his actions." He shrugged.

Karnak:

Karnak shrugged.

"I try, but you saw it in there. They tear me apart because of it."

He took another drag before looking at Ocara.

"I try and get by, act fine about it, not to get in people's ways because of it, but they still come after me. I ask one simple thing, just for someone else to ask him for me so I don't accidentally start anything and what do I get? An Asari barging in acting like she's a slice of perfection and innocence, and the fucking Krogan assualting me. Honestly, where have manners and civility gone, right?"

Raven nodded before speaking again, "What do think the chances of things going south are? I mean the group is a bit skittish as it is since the last time we worked with another merc group. Do you think they can be trusted not to sell us out?"

"You know, usually I prefer to stay neutral in these little 'things', but your right on this. While I still think Thayna was just asking an innocent question, Meer crossed the line, I mean a head-butt? That isn't on"

As Ocara spoke he leant against the wall next to Karnak, all the while being careful not to get anything on his suit. He could wait a while before he went off and besides, a pleasure denied was that much sweeter when it was finally experienced. He still felt slightly antsy however but he wasn't going to just blow off Karnak, he wasn't like that.
