Masters, A Pokemon RP(CLOSED) Chapter 7: Out of the Woods.

There were several caterpie in the area, so Dani decided to go up against some to train Bella, as Caterpie were generally easy to defeat.

"Bella, use sleep powder" Dani instructed her Bellsprout. The dust spurted over the Caterpie and it drifted to sleep. "Now use wrap, and follow it up with a vine whip!"

Bella used it's vines and wrapped them around the Caterpie, and then whipped it with more of it's vines. The Caterpie didn't faint, since it wasn't very effective, but was still asleep. That gave her the advantage.

"Use vinewhip again, it should be almost done!"

Bella used vinewhip, and then squeezed with it's vines, causing the opponent to faint. "Well done Bella, you did good. Let's see if we can keep it up"

Well that was a silly mistake. Tackle is like the default for low level pokemon to me

"Alright guys..." Magnus said, checking his watch. "It's almost lunchtime... Who's hungry?"

Most of his friends affirmed that they were famished after a couple hours of training, so they left Ilex Forest, a little stronger than when they had entered.

"Let's see... Ah, now I remember." Magnus said, leading those who followed him to a house just a few hundred yards from the entrance to the Forest. Magnus approached the front porch, and rang the doorbell. The bell chimed, and the door was opened by a slightly muscular man in his late-twenties, with short blue hair, and a slightly darker goatee.

"Magnus! I was wondering when you'd stop by." The man said, gripping Magnus in a powerful hug. "Come on in, you and your friends."

"Thanks Matt." Magnus responded to his brother. "Guys, this is my oldest brother Matt. Let's go inside."

"Farrah!" Matt called out into the house. "Farrah, Beth, we've got company. Set a few extra places for lunch! As for you guys, you can go ahead and make yourselves at home. Take off your shoes first, and you can go chill in the living room."

"Thanks Matt." Magnus thanked his brother.

"No problem." Matt said in response. "Here, lemme go get Beth. She'll go crazy when she sees you're here."

Magnus and the others sat down in the living room. They relaxed, and watched the TV that was switched on to a comedy channel, with a famous comedian's stand-up performance airing.

Sylas looked around the room appreciatively. "Magnus, you said he was your oldest brother. How big of a family do you have here?"

"Well, let's see." Magnus began to count off his siblings. "There's Matt, my older sister Shannon, my next oldest Max, and my younger brother Maddox. My parents had sort of a thing for 'M' names for their boys. Yeah, I've got a pretty big family. Matt and Shannon were already out of the house when my parents divorced, and Max was gone before she remarried. So far, Matt's the only one a child... Although Shannon just got engaged..."

Magnus realized he was rambling a wee bit, and stopped talking so much.

"Yeah, not to mention I've got several cousins, as well." Magnus finished... "Family reunions were always full of children running about."

"Sounds like fun to me." Sylas said, a slight bit of disappointment in his voice. "I don't have that big of a family. We're not all that tight-knit."

He thought back to the last time he'd seen his parents, when they were sending him off to explore Johto. Most parents would be clinging to their kids on the way out, they had practically packed for him.

 

[Mookie_Magnus]

"Squeeeeeeeeeeee!" A loud shrieking squeal could be heard, and a small girl with lavender hair and eyes, about nine years-old, practically tackled Magnus in a hug. "Uncle Magny!"

"Hey there, Kiddo." Magnus said, giving the little girl a hug in return. "Guys, this is my niece, Beth. How are you, sweetie?"

"I'm good. I've missed you lots." Beth said after she broke the hug. She sat herself on Magnus' leg, and said hello to everyone. "Hi. Are these your friends?"

"Yup... I'm traveling with them for my Pokemon Training." Magnus said to the girl. "We're all Pokemon Trainers."

"Like Uncle Bugsy?" Beth asked her uncle.

"Kinda... Except we travel instead of staying in one place." Magnus explained.

"She's obsessed with being a Trainer." A woman in her late twenties with long purple hair and violet eyes said, walking out with Matt. Her stomach distended slightly, she was obviously a few months pregnant. "Good to see you again, Magnus."

"Good to see you too, Farrah." Magnus said to his sister-in-law. "A Pokemon Trainer, huh? Well, then... Why don't we show her some of our Pokemon? Come on guys, let's let her meet a few of the crew."

Magnus grabbed two of his pokeballs, and let out Garnet and Eon to meet his niece. The other Trainers decided to let out some of their Pokemon as well, so they could all socialize for a bit.

Sylas was eager to show the girl his partners. If she wanted to be a trainer, he was more than happy to show her along. He let out Vandal and Baron, leaving Duchess contained. He didn't think it would be a good idea to let a more wild pokemon into a house.

Baron immediately started greeting the people around, looking up at them cutely. Vandal was more reserved. Sylas leaved over close to him and forced eye contact. "Try to act civil, at least for a little while. Please. If you want back in, just tell me."

Nodding to Sylas, Vandal looked apprehensively at Magnus' family. He didn't really know how to be affectionate like Baron did, but he doubted it would have the same impact if he were cuddling up to everyone.

He got some appraising glances from Matt and Farrah, making him nervous. He didn't know, but they were comparing him to Bugsy's scyther. He nervously rubbed his blades together and put his back against a wall.

Dani sent out her Flare and Shelly. Flare walked over to the quilava, and then looked up at it.

The small togepi was more reluctant, and stayed by Dani's side at first, till she told her it was alright, go play with the others.

Shelly waddled towards the little girl, and then fell over. It made a squeeking noise as it fell.

Eon and Garnet stretched their bodies as they were let out of the pokeballs, and looked up at Magnus and Beth. They saw the other Pokemon being let out, and went to interact with them. Garnet noticed the Vulpix approach her, and smiled at her.

"Hi." The young, red Quilava said to Flare, introducing herself. "I'm Garnet. Wanna play?"

Eon looked up to Beth, and rubbed one of his head-fins against the girl's hand. She began to pet him gently.

"Your Pokemon are so pretty." Beth said, noticing the Togepi that approached her and fell over in front of her. "D'aww... Hi there. Aren't you precious?"

Beth sat the Togepi on her lap, and continued to pet Eon.

"Your Pokemon look different that the ones that Uncle Bugsy taught me about. They're different colors than normal." Beth said, slightly confused.

"I think she likes us." Eon said to Shelly. "She's a nice girl. She smells similar to Magnus, too."

"I smell like Uncle Magny?" Beth said in response to Eon. "He and my daddy are brothers, so that's probably why."

"You understood what he said?" Magnus asked Beth, surprised that she could understand him without difficulty.

"Mm-hmm." Beth nodded in affirmation. "I can understand all of Uncle Bugsy's Pokemon, too. Is that weird?"

"It's special. I don't know many others who can understand them. I can do it, too, and so can your Uncle Maddox." Magnus explained to his niece.

"So, I'm special?" The girl asked, a grin appearing on her face. "Neat!"

"She's like you?" Eon asked his Trainer. "She can understand us without trying to?"

Eon saw Magnus nod, and Eon looked back up at the girl, and rubbed his face against her hand. He got up, and walked over to Garnet and Flare, going to play with them.

Sneasel hid behind Rhiss' legs. Like his owner, he wasn't fond of large groups, especially of people and Pokemon he didn't know.
He tugged her pants for attention.
"Why are we here? Do we have to be here? There are lots of people here and it's very bright and they're noisy. I don't like it..."
Rhiss patted his head. "I know, I know," she whispered. "But they've helped us and it'll do us good to learn to spend some time with others. So, go on. Who knows, you might make a friend?"

Sneasel gulped, then nodded. Walking up to the Vaporeon, he shyly introduced himself.
"H-hi, I'm Sneasel."

 

[Mookie_Magnus]

Eon saw Rhiss' Sneasel approaching him rather shyly, and nodded at the nervous Pokemon.

"Hi, I'm Eon." The purple Vaporeon introduced himself. "You don't gotta be scared. I'm not gonna hurt ya.

Eon sat down next to the Sneasel, and attempted to play with the Pokemon.

"You're shy, huh? That's okay... I don't mind." Eon said, trying to comfort Sneasel. "We're nice Pokemon. Do you wanna play with us?"

Shelly saw the shy Sneasel and tottered towards it. Eon was trying to get it to play, so Shelly tried to help.

"There's no need to worry. I Was scared at first, but these are good pokemon, they won't harm us"

 

[Mookie_Magnus]

Quillz let herself out of her pokeball, as she was capable of doing from time-to-time, and made herself known to Magnus' family. Being the motherly soul she was, she took a liking to Beth, licking her affectionately, and then sat against the wall next to Vandal, watching the smaller Pokemon play.

"How are you feeling, kiddo?" Quillz asked the Mantis Pokemon. "Still feeling a bit angsty?"

Vandal looked at Quillz, for a second. He hadn't spoken to her in a while, and he realized that he had missed her company.

"I'm not a family person." he opened up suddenly, "My family hasn't earned any love from me, I like being alone." He sighed, watching Baron almost jealously. All this time around the group was starting to calm the scyther, but he still didn't want to let his guard down. Quillz' motherly tone softened him up.

"I heard about another scyther around here. Do you know anything about that?"

 

[Mookie_Magnus]

"Magnus had mentioned something about it." Quillz explained. "This town has a Gym Leader, one of the Trainers whom other Trainers can battle for a Badge. This one specializes in Bug Pokemon, and apparently his Scyther is his strongest Pokemon."

Quillz glanced over at the younger Pokemon for a moment, and then turned back to Vandal.

"You want to face his Scyther in battle, don't you?" Quillz asked, knowing the answer already. "If this human is an expert in Bug Pokemon, then I am a bit worried. Still, you are strong, and you won't go down easily."

Vandal's gaze suddenly intensified upon hearing the confirmation. "I won't go down. I'm going to win."

A chill ran down his back at the thought of fighting another scyther. He wanted to prove himself so badly against another of his kind, not even for Sylas, but for himself.

 

[Mookie_Magnus]

"I trust that you can do it, Van." Quillz affirmed her belief in the Scyther. "You've grown very strong in the short time I've known you. I'm glad to have you as a friend."

Quillz gave the Scyther an affectionate and playful lick, and nudged him with her head.

"How perturbed would you be if I said that you taste good?" Quillz asked cheekily with a malicious grin. "Don't worry... I wouldn't eat you. I'd miss our little talks."

 

[Mookie_Magnus]

"Uncle Magny..." Beth said, gently petting and playing with the Pokemon. "Will you help me catch a Pokemon?"

"You want me to capture you a Pokemon?" Magnus asked Beth. "Sure, I'll help you. Is there anything specific you have in mind, sweetie?"

"Mhmm." Beth nodded her head happily, and went into her bedroom, coming back with a picture she drew. The drawing was very well-done, Beth had a natural talent for art. "It's this Oddish I saw when I was in the forest with Uncle Bugsy one night. We were by the shrine, and that's where I saw it."

Magnus took the picture when Beth handed it to him, and he was a bit surprised. The Oddish had a green body, rather than the normal dark-blue, and one of it's front leaves was bent forward, sticking into its face.

"You want this specific Oddish?" Magnus asked Beth, pondering the task. "It won't be easy."

"I know... If you can't do it, I won't mind. I just want this one, because it's so pretty and friendly. Please?"

"Alright, kiddo." Magnus said, giving Beth a hug. "Tell you what... If it's alright with your Mom and Dad, I'll take you into the Forest tonight to look for it. Oh! I know, we can stop by Kurt's house and he can give you a special Pokeball to catch it with."

"Really?!" Beth squealed. "You'll do it? Oh, thank you! Thank you! Thank you!"

She hugged Magnus tightly and then went over to hug her father.

"Daddy, can I? Please?" The girl pleaded with her father. "I promise I'll be good!"

"Oh... Alright, Bethy." Matthew gave in, unable to resist his daughter's charms. "But you have to promise Uncle Magnus that you'll be able to stay awake the whole time."

"I promise!"

"Alright, but don't get too excited Beth." Magnus said to his niece. "It's not even dark yet. You'll have to wait, alright?"

"Hey, there's stuff for lunch ready if you guys want any." Farrah said, coming from the kitchen.

"Food!" Magnus shouted excitedly.

Vandal gave Quillz a worried look. "I, uh...I'll remember that if I meet another typhlosion."

Sylas stood up and headed into the kitchen. He grinned at Magnus' enthusiasm, finding it a bit infectious. "What's for lunch?" he asked rhetorically, even though he knew it would likely be in sight before he got an answer.
