Anthrax have been superb ever since they started (And have always been better than Metallica)
As good as Anthrax are, they aren't as consistent as Metallica. I mean, sure when you have that much content your bound to have some bad stuff (and Anthrax at their worst are far, far better than Metallica at their worst) but it's a pretty big, and obviously contentious claim to say that Anthrax have always been better than Metallica (not that I agree with the metal is dying claim in any way, didn't metallica just release a new album and finish touring not long ago? Lamb of god anyone? Kreator released hordes of chaos this time last year....hardly a dying genre).
I wonder what you mean by consistent with Metallica. They have been pure crap for about 20 years and the only reason why they get recognition is because they made several decent songs a long time ago, as they are keen to remember us since they play those songs on almost every concert.
So I admit that they are consistent in the amount of crap they produce, and they are way more consistent than Helloween who almost always have the Crap Album - Good Album - Crap Album thing going on. Although in Helloween's case this also seems the include how crappy the album is, since Unchained was a hideous pile of sludge and 7 Sinners is a beast of an album.
Consistently crap and play only a few of their good songs live? I'm unsure what your taste is, but from your earlier post I wouldn't have expected you to be a fan of 'Enter sandman'. Their last album, 'Death Magnetic' was by no means groundbreaking, but it was true to the styles of heavy metal and had a few solid tracks. 'Load', 'ReLoad' and 'St Anger' were all very poor, but hardly indicative of Metallicas style. It would be fair to say metallica are overrated, but to claim they have produced more crap than good tracks (even if they are not to your taste, it shouldn't be hard to see how people could like them) simply means you've never heard 'Kill 'em all', 'Ride the lightning', '...And justice for all' or the first 4 tracks of 'Master of the puppets[footnote]which is grossly overrated, but again still has some stellar tracks.[/footnote]' or that you have a hatred of the band and are not making rational comments.

I've seen Metallica twice in concert, and have paid some attention to their setlists over their last tour, and to say they only play "a few of their popular, old songs" of worth is straight up wrong. As I recall, Battery was played once in Melbourne, call of ctuulu was played once in the entire tour, one of the shows I saw excluded fade to black (the other excluded creeping death), they rarely play the justice title track, They rarely play whiplash, jump in the fire, phantom lord, hit the lights etc etc etc The only songs they play with any consistency are 'one', 'enter sandman', 'sad but true', 'seek and destroy' and 'nothing else matters' which, if you're to argue are their best songs....well, I honestly don't know anyone who does, I can only guess that you have an irrational hatred of Metallica, likely because they were the most popular of the big 4 (fuck, if you hate metallica at least mention how much better testament was) and there always has to be somebody who has to be different.

At any rate, the genre cannot be said to be dying when the most commercially successful bands within it are still putting out new material.

What exactly does Deadmau5 do live? I'm not trying to be smug here, I'm legitimately asking, since all his songs (to my knowledge) are made on computers I'm actually curious as to how he would preform them.
I'm tempted to say "look it up on youtube" but I'll elaborate. It's really a mix between the music and the visual presentation. The way he creates an interaction with the media and screen setup and the songs he's playing. The way he plays his songs is totally different from CD. He's not just some DJ who plays someone else's songs at their speed. He uses his own songs, cuts them up, blends them together into a mix you wouldn't think was possible.

I'm not sure why it would matter that his songs are made on a computer. It's just an instrument. The computer doesn't create his songs, he does. Both technical and musical skills are required, as with any instrument.
See also Daft Punk.
On topic: Do have to admit heading towards electronica myself, thanks to (in order) Pendulum, Daft Punk, The Prodigy and Deadmau5.

I have to wonder... Why the hate against Slipknot? They are good!
Don't listen to those people, man. They're allowed to have their own opinions, of course, but there's a difference between "I personally don't like Slipknot." and "Slipknot is shit lol they have no talent."
Ha! You're clearly not one to frequent metal forums, wherein SlipKnot is the butt of every joke and generally considered a disgrace to the name of metal. Not that they're regarded as legitimate metal band in light of never having produced an album which is metal from start to finish.

It's a good sign if you get bored of a certain genre, as long as something else fills its place.

I remember when I first heard Opeth and Dreamtheater, I was in heaven for a good 5 years. I still love the bands, but they don't have the same magic.

I'm into soul at the moment, and anything that fits the mood.

For your information, I have been a fan of metal for the past 17 years (being 31) and do own all of the Metallica albums and have seen them live 3 times. None of those times really blew me away since Hetfield can't really sing without a voice editor it seems, and they have managed to screw up their own songs live, something I find very strange.
But yes, Metallica have some good songs, it's just a shame there are so few of them, and many bands have produced songs that are far greater.
If you think Nothing Else Matters is great, listen to Anthrax's Bare and Black Lodge or Annihilator's Only Be Lonely.
Enter Sandman, I actually liked Motorhead's cover of that song a lot better.

Hetfield's singing is bad enough as it is, but his songwriting leaves a lot to be desired too. Look at the songs and lyrics done by Annihilator's Jeff Waters, they are so much better.
And Kirk Hammett seems to have had guiterlessons from Joe Satriani, but I really wonder what Kirk has been doing there, since nothing he does even comes close to what Satriani can do. Has Kirk been playing with his nosehairs all that time instead of his guitar?

Actually, I used to religiously go on a metal forum until it devolved in "Your taste in metal is shit unless you only like purely obscure, European (Swedish, Finnish, etc.) death metal bands."

Slipknot are terrible because they are just a really lame toned down for the kiddies version of pantera. R.I.P. Dimebag. also metal-core death-core screamo and all that crap with "screams" is shit its like someone with no balls trying to death growl but failing so hard they start choking. Also Gamabomb, Evile and Municipal waste are some good new bands that are always looked over because of this kiddy shit like slipknot and Bullet for my valentine.

That happens alot of people.

Metal heads seem to (not to paint everyone with the same brush and for a while I was one of these guys) in their teen years exclusivly listen to just metal and nothing but it. And nothing but certain types of metal. If you didnt like it, it wasn't really metal.

Then you grow up a bit and realize (or stop kidding yourself) that other music styles actually have some really good artists in them. And then you're happier for it.

At least I am!

I was all-metal when I was younger too. Now i also enjoy more quiet music and even some electronic music. (While i still love metal)
