That's caused me to rage on many an occasion... last time I checked, an entire mag of bullets does more damage to a human than a stab from a little knife.

This video sums up the MW2 knife situation pretty well:

In fact, it looks exactly like the situation you just described... are you sure that isn't you in the video getting stabbed in the arm?
You know, I read a Penny Arcade comic a while back that complained about this. At the time I thought they were joking.

This is pretty messed up. But on the bright side, it makes for very amusing youtube videos!

[sub][sub]Only 8k more to go until you get that new badge!![/sub][/sub]
Yeah I know... not sure if it'll happen though, given the amount of MW2 threads on the site at the moment!

There are a whole bunch of hilarious youtube vids on the subject, this one is particularly good:

It was linked to a thread by another member yesterday, I can't believe it's not bigger on youtube.

The Op For voices made me belly laugh... 'Bambi! Tactical Header! Tango Sucker! Yo Mother! Semtex!'
Haha!

That video had a lot of work put into it. I'm also surprised it hasn't gotten more attention.

It seems the Op For section was a favorite part from the comments.

This comment made me laugh even more "i seriously dont understand why they say "bambi"-what are we killing him?"

I just recently borrowed Modern Warfare for the PS3 from a buddy to see what the fuss was about.
I was pleasantly surprised to be just as addicted as most of the other people I talk to. Funny thing was, I have yet to meet a bitchy opponent. I dunno if it's because PSN has a lock that blocks anyone with a birthday on their account that means their under eighteen from speaking or what, but...meh.
(By the way, they really do have a built in childlock).

Much of this true, I suppose, but I never really rage at MW2. Sure, I get angry, but it always controlled anger, and I'm in a party with my friends the whole time so we sort of balance each other out.

I actually didn't got angry at the multiplayer. I never do, what's the point? These people are better than me and I am getting my ass kicked. It's my fault, not theirs.

I got angry at the story mode, stupid
Shepperd, traitor motherf***er piece of sh*t, I still think a knife to the face ain't enough. I want realistic damage and a gattling gun. He was such an *ss.

If you read the original post, you'll see that the reasons people get angry have nothing to do with other people being better, it's do do with all the bullshit that happens in the game.

Tell me you wouldn't feel frustrated if you were doing really well, just about to get your Pave Low and you die to some random air strike because of your team-mate's deaths?

This game is actually breaking me down as far as multiplayer goes. I'm to the point of "multiplayer? Eh, I'm going to co-op."

Well, I certainly can't, because I barely played the multiplayer enough to make a judgement about it. I just wanted to say that I get angry at it for other reasons, meaning Modern Warfare 2 is a game that makes you angry, anyway you play it.

i think they needed to beta the multiplayer before hand
Damn straight they did.

I have a feeling it would have been a completely different game had they done a beta.

At least Bungie know how to keep their fans happy.

Thank you for that asinine contribution.

What people with your attitude don't seem to grasp is that as fans of something, people get excited and happy when they know a new one is coming.

It's then a letdown for them when it does not live up to their hopes. It's only natural for them to want to vent.

Your post was pretty idiotic, please contribute in a more constructive manner or get off the thread.

People can sit on here and write their little hate letters to Modern Warfare 2, Halo 3 or whatever the flavour of the week is to them. Fact of the matter is - I like many others have bought the game, played the hell out of it and absolutely love it. I play with a circle of friends, and we've never run into any problems that we couldn't get over.. seriously, in some cases people need to get over themselves and stop it with their game rage because it's just going to carry over to another game. Telling yourself any different is fooling yourself.
I hardly think the OP was a 'hate letter'. It was more of a gentle humorous poke at the game.

Playing with a circle of friends is a good idea, and I'm glad you all enjoy it but the fact remains people wouldn't have such bad feelings towards the game if it wasn't full of elements that most people consider to be big problems.

I don't hate MW2 at all, I just think it could have been a lot better. And I loved the campaign to bits.

Thank you Miracle, you've brighten up my day.

I'd empty half a damn magazine of bullets from a FAMAS into some guy's chest, watching him continue to stand there. Then, he'd slash my arm with his knife.

He'd slash my arm...

With his knife.

And I'd drop dead.
And you have also brightened up my day.

Alot of the problems with "Camping of Duty Modern Killstreaks 2" could have been fixed by a beta and dedicated servers.

Halo and Killzone had beta's and there online experience is pretty solid, I know Killzone took out the cover system and the 3 second spawn invurability thanks to some effective raping of base camps. Also melee in killzone is a two hitter instead of a one hit kill which stops crazy laggers fucking your shit right up.

Speaking of lag, I came accross shotgun wielding maniac in a corridor "haha" I thought to myself "badly aimed shotgun isn't as powerful as no scoped sniper rifle", I shot him in the foot and got the kill... about 5 seconds later I travelled back to where I was and flew back from a lagged shotgun blast to the chest.

Much laughs were had by him and me, Neuf is his name, we exchanged PSN's and play together whenever we can.

I have played games online since 1998, and during that entire period there were individual games or evenings where an unpleasant experience caused me to end the game session early, but it was only with the relase of Modern Warfare II that the event became so common that simple annoyance was elevated to rage. The specifics have already been gone over at length by others so I won't bother reiterating, but eventually I left the game behind forever when the fun experiences (they did exist afterall, I am not a glutton for punishment) were utterly overshadowed by the rage inducing ones. In the end, the core of my problem always revolved around the simple fact that my sucess or failure had very little to do with my own personal skill or actions and relied heavily upon those of my teammates.

This rage does not carry over to other games. I play Dawn of War II online and can lose a half dozen matches in a row because of somethign as simple as bad teammates and it doesn't cause rage because at least I have a reasonable chance to impact the ultimate outcome. In games like Battlefied: Bad Company, the game encourages players to work together precisely because the outcome will not be based on your actions alone.

I will not go so far as to say the problems with MW2 are buried in bad design, but rather design choices that result in a disconnect between player performance and player success.

Seriously D Bones, you're wrong. Who cares? Just don't post on the thread if you don't like it.

This attitude bugs me.

It's not at all as simple as 'don't play it'. People want to play it because they expected it to be great. They spent 60 quid on it and feel let down that it's fundamentally broken.

This is a gaming forum, people here are passionate about their hobby, so when the biggest game release of all time is a let down they have every right to be disappointed.

Recently ive gone back to MW2 (after putting my foot through a door after trying PvP on ST:O - Which is the most broken unbalanced experience ive ever had the misfortune of playing), and ive come up against a whole new problem. I was a rank 54, no prestige, And it was matching me with virg...Sorry, "Hardcore Gamers" - Im a better gamer than your average guy, but against people that havent seen sunlight since the games release, I dont stand a chance.

Im 4,000,000 ish, in the rankings, SURELY[/I] there must be people around my level to game with?!?
Where is that avatar from?
It has the same characters from Shaun Of The Dead, but I don't remember seeing that bit in the movie.

Allow me to be revolutionary and unique here by saying that the multiplayer wasn't that bad and that there isn't much inherantly wrong with the game itself.

Like all online games, most of the problems that you'll experience are usually caused by (insert drum roll here) us! That's right, us, the players. Me, you, Pro-5nipez665, that guy who denies America ever lost in Vietnam, that British guy who says that he'll hack your account, the guy with the dual shotties, that guy who's gamertag motto is 'win at all costs'.

Some of us are worse than others but we all contribute to the problem in our own way, the possibility to cheat and play dirty is present in all games but it's the players who take that oppertunity for their own purposes and agendas who make it a real problem.

Don't get me wrong, there's some annoying shit in that game (don't get me started on witching classes) but I can guarantee you that it's always a problem because of the way players think and behave in-game (I doubt half of the problems you encounter started by someone just stumbling on them by accident).
