I'm finally going to get to play this. It came up on my Gamefly queue. Unfortunately I just picked up RDR, so I don't know if I'll get around to playing it soon.

But I think I'll avoid the multiplayer for now. I don't want to hate the game right away.

I enjoy this game and all its modes. Online took a while to get into though becuase it is not a forgiving game to new players like me.

I liked the single player too. Its short and the plot makes no sense but it felt like a fun action blockbuster, like Avatar.

As for the annoying online community, I rock out to custom soundtracks so I never have to listen anyone else spew nonsense.

Thank you, I tried to make it funny and fun to read instead of yet another hate thread. I do love MW2 after all, that's why it makes me so mad!

MW2 is actually one of the easiest games to get into for new players, as there are many perks and setups that don't require much skill or practice.

MW just played so differently. I would be like "hey there's someone" and be dead before I even tried to aim at him. Plus I could not tell who was on my team and who wasn't, I missed the red vs blue team colors. Combine that with me just sucking and it was not fun for a while. For example, I'm a level 65 and just two days ago got my first non care package chopper gunner. My first 11 kill streak. And it was with an Uzi, my new favorite gun.

Also, I'm glad this thread was a success, it deserved it.

You'll get better. I played COD4 for 9 days worth of hours and still sucked, but do pretty well at MW2, going 1.5 K in most TDM games and always getting the most points in Domination.

It's funny, because of my COD conditioning, I had the opposite/same problem as you when I tried Halo... it takes much longer to kill someone in Halo(and in my opinion.. more skill), so I was terrible at it, what with all the jumping and subtle weapon balance. COD it's just aim, bang, dead.

Its a huge transition for sure. I had played Halo 3 online for about a year straight and got good. After playing a lot of both I've found I have more fun in MW. I think its because in halo you and someone else can shoot eachother, then run head first into eachother, and it seems random who dies and who does not. I was getting so frustrated. But in MW I die so much and its so easy to die that i almost never get upset about it, its just part of the game. Often times when you die in halo it feels as though you were cheated. I will say that I find the weapons in halo to be much more fun and more satisfying to use. I could throw plasma grenades all day long.

Goodness me. That was actually pretty funny.

I actually quite like the hacked matches because they provide a massive change from the mediocrity of the multiplayer, at least keeping the game fresh. In my ideal world they will never be patched.

It's somewhat comforting to know that even the best players in the COD community get screwed over just as much as you do, isn't it?

Those commando kills were just fucking ridiculous... the knife was about 6 or 7 feet away from the player. But the javelin killcam made me laugh so much...

And I'm not a huge gun person, but surely 11 point blank hits with a shotgun from 3 feet away should kill someone???

The best approach I have found to having fun with MW2 is to try not to care about your K ratio and just run around like a lunatic into the enemy spawn with all guns blazing. You don't get amazing ratios but you have much more fun than sitting in a corner with akimbo shotguns waiting for someone to walk past, like 50% of the XBOX Live players seem to do.

One thing that bugged me in Halo were the 'run in circles around eachother until someone's melee connects' moments. I did like the Reach beta a lot though, it was a godsend to have sprint.

I'm curious as to whether anyone bought the Resurgance pack? They're awesome fun maps for private games. Carnival is the most photo-realistic looking game level I've ever seen!

I know what you mean about the circles. It does get old. I like that different guns really do have quite different tactics to be effective.

As for the map packs, I can't justify the expense. Carnival is teh one map I really want.

We should play online sometime, it sounds like we have similar play styles and just like to have fun. I hate camping too because I always get bored after about 20 seconds.

I just heard news that they might be introducing playlists with killstreaks disabled.. pretty awesome news, is it not? It shows they may be thinking about fixing up some of the problems with the game. Fingers crossed for a patch...

Yes, he will need a game to occupy him while I go into a Fallout stupor. I'll have to look at the release schedule to see if there is a suitable game for him to play.

Let him borrow your Mass Effect 2 maybe? If you can bring yourself to part with it! Another reason I can't wait for New Vegas is that it'll stop me gravitating back to bloody MW2

I don't know if he'll want to play ME2 after how much he saw me playing it. But Gran Turismo 5 is coming out close to that time, I just checked. I suspect he'll be deep into that game so I won't feel so bad ignoring him while in the wastes.
