Y'know what they could do?

Give the option to display the health via a meter rather than this method. Everybody will be happy (but with the rest of the game I can't guarantee).

Fox news will be all over this. "OMG CHILD CRUELTY! PROTECT THE CHILDREN!"
Yeah, I thought the same thing. Well, looks like it's safe to assume at this point that Australia sure as hell won't be getting Fable 3! :)

Child makes fun of old lady who falls over.
You punish said child with light flick on the ear.
Michael Atkinson: "OH MY GOD, IT'S A CHILD TORTURE SIMULATOR! QUICK! BURN IT! BURN IT WITH FIRE! PROTECT TEH KIDDIES!!
I'm pretty sure the only thing Fox News and their compatriots are going to hear is 'touch' and 'children', and we'll be back to the old "discussion" about games being rape simulators. All gamers will be labelled potential paedophiles, and the general public will be warned that we can't be trusted around their children. THANKS PETER!

OT: No HUD sounds shit. I really dislike games that don't show me a health bar, because without specific knowledge of how far I am from death I can't really adjust my tactics accordingly. "You will die if you are shot 3 more times" is more useful than "Dude, you're, like...hurt. Try not to get shot again". Plus, no XP? I admit the orbs were stupid, but I like XP. The increasing number A) makes me feel like I'm progressing as a character and B) gives me an idea of how much further I need to progress. Why turn it into such a mystery?

Really?

I liked the two first games but they weren't exactly GOTY material.

I hope that this one hits the spot.

A little off topic I know, but can you explain to me (and everyone else) how Australia works exactly when it comes to banning/allowing games? The rules seem pretty dictatorial for a democracy. Thanks.
Technically it's not banning, since all they are doing is refusing to rate mature games, and stores won't sell unrated games. But it is dictatorial since the choice isn't left to the masses, it's left to the very very few.
I've heard both bad and good things said about Peter Molyneux, and to be honest I haven't played his games, but I like that he isn't paying lip service to the ignoratards who'd rather have nothing but E-rated games.

[sub]His big face scares me though. Make it go away.[/sub]

I love Fable but hate Fable 2, I am expecting to hate Fable 3.
Ditto.

Fable 2 is an example of what happens when a developer believes his own hype and lets his ego run wild. It was, for my money, the second worse game on the Xbox360 ever (after Too Human).

I expect Fable 3 to be even worse than Too Human.

"Using a certain kind of sword might make your character thin and tall, while killing a certain kind of monster will cause the weapon itself to become spiky."

I'm sorry but i think that sounds terrible xD

I can't see how it'd work. Like you equip a sword and suddenly *bwoopbwoopbwoop* you're twice as tall?
Can you turn off this feature because if not it'd be really annoying. Imagine getting an awesome sword but having it turn your character ugly. It'd kind of make you feel detached from the character you're playing :/

Not sure about the spiky weapon thing either. It could be cool but what if you're just trying to get by because you're being swarmed by monsters, and suddenly you kill one and it coats your sword in cotton wool or give some other rubbish stat change, these things you really wouldn't want in the heat of battle.

Every time Molyneux has something to say, I get the feeling he has become the first person to shove his head so far up his own arse that it's gone full circle & back where to it's supposed to be. The master of satirical hyperbole with no apparent concept of what that is.

After the disappointment that was Fable 1, I have made an effort to ignore this guy. But I had to read this, and yeah he's a moron.

Molyneux Reveals Why Fable 3 Will Piss Players Off

Just what has Peter Molyneux done to Fable 3 that will make the entire videogame industry boil over in anger? Nothing.

Last week, Microsoft Games Studio big-shot Peter Molyneux made a statement that Fable 3 would probably make gamers "super pissed off" [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/98115-Molyneux-Fable-3-Will-Upset-Some-People]. The reason has just been revealed at Microsoft's X10 event, though it's not quite as bad as he anticipated.

Is it that Fable 3 is going to be controlled by a single button? No. Could it be that Fable 3 has become a puzzle game? Also no. Instead, it sounds like something that would actually make gamers happy, and involves "simplification."

First of all, health bars have taken a hike, and been replaced with the type of system found in Mass Effect 2 or Gears of War where the world's colors will fade to black-and-white as a player is damaged. In Molyneux's own words: "Look at the screen! It's completely clean! Why do we need the fucking health bar?" In fact, Fable 3 will get rid of all HUD elements: bars, meters, etc.

Experience orbs are also gone in Fable 3, which could potentially be a decision that angers hardcore RPG fans that require experience points in all of their RPGs. Instead of orbs, a character's followers will decide his level of stature in the game. This sounds like an interesting change, but I won't judge it until trying it for myself.

There are other new features that Molyneux revealed, such as weapons that will change both a character and themselves depending on how they are used. Using a certain kind of sword might make your character thin and tall, while killing a certain kind of monster will cause the weapon itself to become spiky. In addition, there will be a "touch" mechanic in Fable 3 that will allow players to punish or play with children, and to drag beggars over to slave traders as they gradually pull harder and harder to get away when realizing they are going to be sold. Sounds creepy.

Molyneux apparently wasn't supposed to reveal as much as he did, but with this bit of information Fable 3 already sounds like an intriguing RPG. I'm not pissed off at all, in truth, I'm actually excited.

I played Fable 1 and 2, adding TThe Lost Chapters in somewhere, abd not overly fond of 2, but 1 was good in itself, with TLC adding some, ah, random plot twists not making overly much sense.
The 3rd sounds a helluva lot more fun, IF I can get rid of the bloody dog!

Sounds interesting. I think I might buy this as I simply love the Fable series for some reason.

Hope the story isn't as cliche this time round though.

Everything this guy says is bullshit. Fable 2's "unrivaled NPC interaction" was a scroll wheel that made people like you if you spammed it enough. The world had loads of load screens, the story was non-existant, we were promised "a sprawling world" and it was one big linear as fuck corridor, there was no armour and tiny amounts of weapons, you couldn't die, ever, the coop sucked, the combat was piss easy because you could spam any spell for as long as you felt and now Fable 3 is dumbing that down even more with regen health AND it's using Natal so people will have to waggle about like an idiot to actually play it.

Fable didn't disappoint me because I heard nothing of the hype Moly gave it.

Fable II didn't disappoint me because I was the crazy person that liked all the stuff everyone else hated, including the ending.

Fable III? I don't know right now, but I'd say I'm optimistic.

I suppose the best thing we gamers can do is ignore anything that Mr Molyneux says on the grounds that he talks a lot of bull and reserve our judgement until we play the game.

Or failing that, we can buy something else. Not necessarily a game. :)

What he's doing might actually be pretty cool, but keeping track of Mana is the only thing I'm a bit confused of how they're going to do it.
