Still on a pokemon note, seeing "can't escape" whilst trying to run from zubat. Every. Single. Sodding. Time.
You just reminded me of something really, really awful!!!
I agree to 100% on this one.

Fallout 3. When playing it, it feels so obviously flawed and unpolished, but whenever I stop playing, my mind seems to distill the experience down the few good moments. It' almost sort of like a cigarette addiction.

Also, bad translation in foreign games tends to ruin things for me.

The Horizon encounter in Mass Effect 2 between Shepard and Ashley.
Let me make something clear here, I am not mad because Ashley didn't leap into Shepard's arms and bow to his feet like so many other youtube commenters seem to be, if you ask me she was perfectly justfied to be confused and upset that the love of her life returned after being gone for two years and was now working for a terrorist organization.

No sir, I'm just mad that this was all I got. I picked Ashley over Liara in Mass Effect 1 and I honestly couldn't find myself interested in any of the others at my disposal so I decided to hold out until Mass Effect 3. Suddenly I hear Liara fans are getting a DLC, and then I start to realize that DLC after DLC is getting made and everything seems to be in an effort to not acknowledge that Ashley ever existed.
It peeves me off so much, I still hold out hope for Ashley returning in Mass Effect 3 but for now I am getting quite mad at how little involvement one of my favorite characters has gotten in an otherwise terrific game.
I was disappointed also. No matter what you try and say she (or Kaidan - yes I'm giving spoilers because everyone has pretty much spoiled RDR for me :>) won't listen to reason - and doesn't thank the maker that you are alive.

Granted, it only elicited this response from me the first time I played it but it still pisses me off to this day...

(my actual quote as I recall): "Wha...? We're just leaving her there?!? You haven't even got a goddamn dropship?!? Oh come on, you gotta be shitting me. You've GOTTA be shitting me! MENGSK, YOU FUCKING BASTARD! I DON'T CARE IF YOU ARE A COMPUTER GAME, I'M GONNA FIND YOU AND KICK YOU IN THE NUTS SO HARD YOUR GRANDCHILDREN WILL FEEL IT!"

The final 'defend this point' segment of Nova Prospekt in HL2. I play the entire game on difficult mode, but I bump it down to easy for that segment because it gets me so angry each and every time.
Ugh, that. I have only gotten past that part once, without cheating or bumping down the difficulty.

That one time I beat it, strangely, was at my friends, playing the PS3 version of it.

'Course, who knows any updates the PS3 version never got and it probably was already on easy anyway.

I can live with the waves of Combines, manhacks and lack of health, but when you get an inadequate number of turrets, small space, oh, and combine that with THOSE FUCKMOTHERING SHOTGUNERS...
funny thing is shotgunners weren't in the original game... added in later if i'm not mistaken

To be honest, I'm just mad at how crap Shepard's responses were on Horizon. In response to working with Cerberus he can either say that they aren't the enemy or that he doesn't work for them, but there isn't an option to say:
'I don't like Cerberus either but like it or not, I need their resources for this mission'.
So he instead either sounds like a brainwashed Cerberus drone or just someone with no idea what his loyalties are.
Plus, if romance happened, when he first greets Ashley there's this touching scene where they both tenderly embrace, having finally been reunited after two years of heart break on Ashley's side they are finally together and when I hit the option to say 'I missed you' he opens with the line:
"It's good to see you again Williams, how have you been?"

Because you know, that's an appropriate thing to say to someone who loved you who has spent the last two years in grief after your apparent death.

Seriously, it was like the game was trying to make it impossible for me to convince Ashley that what I was doing was for the right reasons, or at least not have it end in bitterness like that. I mean they give me multiple dialogue options but they were entirely cosmetic as no matter how I played the scene out, it never changed. It was a pre-determined path with no way to alter it except mix up the dialogue a little, giving off the illusion of interactivity without actually having any.

And after that, the only acknowledgment I get from the game that Ashley even exists at all is one email message and a scene where Shepard looks at her photo. Otherwise she might as well have slipped into an alternate dimension and while this may not matter to players who romanced Liara or weren't all that attached to Ashley or Kaiden to people like me it was a major game killer. Imagine a sequel to your favorite movie that then removed your favorite secondary lead, that's what Mass Effect 2 was at points for me.

Once again, I didn't blame Ashley for how she reacted on Horizon, I blame Shepard for having crappy responses to all her questions, I blame Bioware for giving Shepard those crappy responses and for completely kicking her out of the game and I blame the youtube commenters who's endless complaining about how much they hate her is making it less and less likely that Bioware will be adding her in any future DLC for a long, long time.

Wow, I can rant a lot, huh?

Sorry by the way if this aggression seemed in any way directed at you, it wasn't at all but it might have seemed that way.

I find that speech is even worse when Kaidan says it instead, it's pretty clear the dialogue was designed for Ashley after you've had a relationship, Kaidan seems to whine far more.
I think there might be a misunderstanding, I was saying that I understood Ashley's reasoning for being upset under those circumstances. I was just mad that Bioware decided to make it be under those circumstances and left it at that.
As it stands if I had met the love of my life returning to me after two years of believing they were dead, now working for the sworn enemy of the army I serve, I'd probably get angry too. I was just annoyed that this had to be all I got.

I agree with you though by the way about Kaiden, although it can also apply to a female Shepard who romanced Kaiden, for the most part this Horizon encounter always felt like a romance thing. The betrayal and the emotional conflict and the seeming heart break most certainly seems to fit more in the context of a star crossed lover than it does in just an old friend.

Perfect World.

When Veno's try to get your pet to pull only 1 mob at a time, and manage to pull an entire group. Needless to say, you die usually. (Hercs without their boosts still pull more mobs depending on where, and the type of mob). Believe me, i almost screamed (oh wait, i did) at the laptop last night having died thanks to my herc pulling a full group of mobs =(

The furking vehicle sections in Half-Life 2. They were terrible!
Beat me to it. Yeah too much Vehicle bollox in Half life2. Things would have been better if someone else drove it and you just had to give covering fire.

Halo Reach, Emile trying to kill the enemy from 10 miles away with a shotgun. He might as well be trying to kill them from a different goddamn mission!
You mean your companions actually fired?

Why must I kill all the enemies. It'd be a lot more -awesome- if they'd just use twice as many enemies and have us all going at them.
I know, it feels like CoD, where you seem to be the person the enemy deems worthy of shooting at.
OT: Another Reach one, but not actually in game. My friend skipped school to play it, and the next day I asked how it was. Within seconds he ruined the story.

Getting THOSE calls from your friends on GTA IV.

You'd think the sad excuse of a man Dwayne would grow a pair and accept that after the 15th time of ignoring his calls, I don't want to go Bowling with him and listen to him and his sad sack of shit voice on the way there and back.

Damn thee Rico!, Damn thee to hell!. that final cutscene in KZ3 just ticks me off.

Gameplay wise, when a lucky shot takes out an expensive tank you purchased in Men Of War, luck generally pisses me off in that game, i calculate everything and have back ups for my back ups, but theres no accounting for sheer dumb luck.
Yes or a big tank like the ISU coulndt kill a M10 Achillies wtf, I took a Jagdpanther out with a panzersreck a good 40ft away.

Amen to that! The amount of times thats happened to me in Sonic 2 I can't begin to count!

I think theres many moments in games that will piss me off in gaming. Like when I first played Resident Evil on Professional and was CONSTANTLY getting butchered El Salvador with his chainsaw, didn't help that none of the enemies were dropping ammo so I was having to do alot of the killing with the knife!
