At the end of Baldurs Gate 2 Throne of Bhaal when you find out about what happened to Minsc. His witch died, his sacred duty to be accepted into the snowlodge (warriors hall) in Rasahman was to protect her and she died. He returns home believing that he is a failure but when he arrives everyone has heard of what he has done with the PC and he is hailed as a hero, after everything he had gone through he was finally accepted as an honourable warrior, a person most deserving of it.

Several. Let's see...

Half-Life Ep2. Yeah, you know the bit I mean. Also, honourable mention goes to the part just after the Vortigaunts heal Alyx.

Oni. Having to shut down the little mutilated android, and she apologises to you all the while.

Mass Effect. The 'I remember Me' side mission. Jesus, that girl was messed up. (You only get that this mission if you choose the colonist
backstory, so many people reading this might not know what I'm talking about.)

BioShock. The good ending. Also, Tenembaum's 'Hatred' audio log. The 'Saw Masha Today' audio log came pretty damn close too.

Ico. At the end, when she puts him on the boat.

...

Also, haven't we had this thread topic before? As in, fairly recently before. Because typing this gave me a strong sense of deja vu.

I have to admit I got a little shiney-eyed on Gears of War 2 upon finding Maria.

hmmm, gotta be:

1. MGS3, when you learn all about the boss and stuff
2. HL2:EP2 ending, if you didn't cry you're not human...
3. FF7, when red XIII learns about his dad (I think I was about 10 years old at that point though)

all tear jerkers for me

The ending in Mass Effect 2. It was just such a perfect ride.

Every Final Fantasy ending, that's my girly side I suppose!
Lost Odyssey at numerous points, particularly the first dream sequence.

The Crusader Bridenbrad quest-chain in World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King. I didn't "cry", but my throat choked up...

"Bridenbrad is named for Bradford C. Bridenbecker, the brother of Robert Bridenbecker, Blizzard's Vice President of Online Technologies. He was the city manager of La Habra, California, not far from Blizzard's offices in Irvine, from 2002 until his death from cancer in 2007. He was also an avid player of World of Warcraft. In the Wrath of the Lich King manual, he is listed under "Special Thanks" as "Bradford C. Bridenbecker R.I.P. 6.18.2007".

Robert Bridenbecker revealed in the World of Warcraft 5th anniversary interviews that shortly after his brother's death, he sent an e-mail to Blizzard to request a character be created in his honor. Chris Metzen, who had attended Brad Bridenbecker's funeral, heard of this and offered one of two ways: To add him as part of the main storyline for World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, or to give him his own epic quest chain. Under the direction of Metzen and Alex Afrasiabi, the Bridenbrad quest chain was created in tribute to Brad Bridenbecker's"

It's a tragic quest; Crusader Bridenbecker, a valiant Paladin of the Argent Crusade, has gone missing. Tirion Fordring, the leader of the Crusade, tasks you to find this hero and bring him home. Upon finding the missing paladin, he confesses that in his battle against the Scourge (undead) he contracted the Undead Plague, for which there is no cure.

Tirion, upon hearing this, tasks you to seek out the Great Powers of the world; Keeper Remulos, leader of the Druid Enclave, Alexstraza the Life-Binder, Queen of the Red Flight of Dragons; and even Adal, who is basically Light Incarnate (think a race of crystal angels). All of their methods fail, and Bridenbrad thanks you for your efforts before resigning himself to his fate. But as he dies, Adal and two other Naaru appear from overhead, and raise the fallen Crusader to the heavens, promising that he shall know "Eternal Paradise". It's a LOOOOOOOONG quest-chain.... but completely worth it. Without a doubt, one of the most emotionally tugging questchains in the game, right up there next to the Darrowshire chain.

My Xbox got the E 74 error message halfway through the Horizon mission in my second playthrough of Mass Effect 2.

Also on the same topic, not quite cry but I felt an emotional pang during the reunition of Shepard and Ashley and Mordin's loyalty mission. Come to think of it, the degree to which you empathise with characters in that game was great.

Call of Duty, specifically the second part of the Pegasus Bridge mission on Veteran. When I had Evans hugging the ground with little health, no medpacks available and Germans attacking from all sides, it made me think how the real soldiers must have felt in such a situation and it brought tears into my eyes. What can I say, I have a strong sense of empathy...

Strangely, though, I never recall being brought to tears by anything else in gaming. Well, I cried due to how sad the Game Over music was in Donkey Kong Country as a kid, but that doesn't really count.

Any buddy dying Far Cry 2 is a huge loss.

If a buddy is mortally wounded you have the choice of giving them a morphine overdose to ease the pain or put a bullet in between their eyes, its your choice, and you pull the trigger.

Goodnight, Sweet Prince.

Its doubly hard to do because they're only in the area because they came to rescue you, and the squirming they do while yelling at you to "DO IT, FINISH ME OFF" is unsettling.
Especially due to the fact that it's in First Person. Makes the whole experience more painful. Never cried about it though.

Don't think a game has ever made me cry, actually. I did get a bit sad in the Dragon Age ending where
Alistair died, and nobody seemed to make a big deal out of it. He was the best freaking character, for god's sake!
Well, except for Duncan. I would have that man's babies if I could.

Last cutscene in FFX. Still makes me tear up.
Wasn't that one for me. It was nearer the middle of the game when you find out
Yuna will die if you beat sin.

I was so young...
