Lucky Star...
Okay a little back story behind my hatred towards Lucky Star, A friend (who is female) was an avid fan of the show, she tried to convince me to watch it and when i finally did (after all the 'oh its awesome though' , 'just give it a go' ) it was so fucking boring, nothing actually happened, the show itself looked like somebody ate a bucket full of skittles and throw up on a sheet of paper then recorded its motions. the voices sounded like a mouse getting their balls fondled by a fucking G-clamp. The attempts at humour normally fell flat due to the lack of understanding of Japanese culture, i find it rather hard to believe the show made it past the pilot and has a fanbase and i have really had enough of the "the characters look cute though" although to say it more accurately coming from them "the anime girls in lucky star are kawaii desu nii"

Did you read that properly? The manga was an adaptation itself. The Clannad anime and manga were based on the Clannad visual novel. The anime may have come out after the manga but the base material was the game. I know this because I've played said visual novel and the story (for the main arc) is very much the same, After Story is also based on the After Story in the visual novel. The ending of After Story wasn't some cheap twist they thought up on the spot it was basically what happened in the visual novel (which sets that ending up throughout).

I'll admit even I found the last few episodes slightly annoying but I wouldn't say that the whole second half of the AS series was rubbish, the episodes with Ushio were brilliant and really moving, although I get what you mean by making the last half pointless.

Don't know if any of that was coherent... But there you have it!
I see what you mean. First the visual novel, then manga, then anime...

I loved the anime, but the last few episodes made me feel my tears were for nothing. I was hoping for something other than 'it just didn't happen'. Glowing lights aside, I guess I just wanted something different.

Considering how much emotion I had invested into the series, and how much I disliked the ending, I call it my 'Most Disappointing Anime'.
Ok ok I think we understand each other now :p
I know what you mean, I felt almost as happy as I did cheated with the twist, it is quite annoying the way it happens and sort of dismisses all the problems. I think it's dealt with better in the visual novel, but I hardly expect anybody to invest in playing that, it's quite time consuming!
I understand why you'd call it disappointing then, I still loved it though, it's a really moving story. And I couldn't call those last few episodes bad simply because of how overjoyed I was with everything being ok again! Also, I knew it was coming so I had a different perspective I guess, but seeing how much I cried in the build up to the ending, I totally see why you'd feel angry that your tears were for nothing!

High School of the Dead... It was interesting at first (beside of the fact that is another take on the overused Zombie Genre) but after a while it becomes just shots at huge tits (see the nurse) and girls taking showers... It's not even a good contrast to survival horror... It's just dumb.
Indeed. It basically just turned into "Fan Service: The Series".

Which is a shame, because at first it was rather enjoyable.
Not if look past the fanservice. it's one of my all time favorites.

For me, Gunslinger Girl. The manga was amazing, but the anime just killed it.

EDIT totally forgot Naruto. Words can not describe my hatred for this.

I'll say Dragon ball Z.

If you watch Dragon ball and moved onto DBZ, you'll be surpised about how werid it is. Dragon Ball was about getting stronger and ending the Red Ribbon threat and for the most part they did it.

Then DBZ moved on and wham! Goku is a Alien! He has a brother! there is now a threat to the planet and all that.

I just like it, when it was simple you know?

Baccano! Not because it was bad, but because it was SO BADASS that I was literally cursing at my screen when it ended at 16 episodes. That was one HELL of a train-ride, and totally warrents a second season.
doesn't the ending where the guy in the top hat says "fuck you endings are boring. Make one up for yourself." piss you off. Just finished that one myself and it was really good.
Most Dissapointing Samurai Champloo, I was so ready to love this series when I started and stuck with it for a while. But after about 10 episodes I decided that the flimsy bond holding them together (sunflower samurai) sucked, and I was not the least bit invested in what they were doing. I didn't expect it to be as good as bebop (which I didn't like at first but grew to love) but I thought It would be okay. Well to be honest, it's tolerable, but damn, damn.
Well it's kind of ok that Baccano! ended when it did, at least we didn't have to watch that mouse's side of the story...

Oh and couldn't you just ignore the Samurai Champloo bonds and focus on the badassery? :p

ANY ANIME WHERE THEY DON'T ALL DIE 'CUZ ANIME SUCKS TROLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLO

In all seriousness though, I'd have to say Claymore. I loved the anime but it ended too early which meant I had to read the badly paced manga for my Claymore fix...
Plus I kinda got annoyed by the fight scenes near the end *20 minutes of characters attacking each other and doing seemingly no damage whatsoever*

God im glad im not the only one that completely hated Elfen Lied. I only watched one episode, couldnt make myself watch another one. The first half was decent, but when she met those other 2 guys and that girl acted like a fucking cat, it was just really really really annoying and insanely boring.

Clannad After Story.

Almost great, but the biggest shit pile of an ending ever. A cheap twist to back out of an otherwise great story.

'But the Manga...' Shut up! It still sucks, and isn't worth watching halfway through.
Clannad wasn't based on a manga. And After Story is an incredible anime.
Clannad was based on a manga, check the wiki. And After Story was incredible, till the ending made the whole last half pointless.

The anime was announced a week after the manga ended, right before the After story manga started : P

I thought the ending was a non-canonical 'what if' situation >.>

Elfen Lied. I know there's worse but this takes the cake (insert lie joke hear) of laziness on the writers part. Lets see main character; we'll dumb her down, makes writing easier. What'll we do about the action scenes; hmm... lets see. Oh, got it... you can't see her powers, yeah that'll do it. *team high-five* This will be awesome! Sorry to the fans. Just my opinion. >.>

Neon Genisis Evangelion all the way.

I haven't seen the newer remakes, but the original series just sucked. I'd watch an episode and about 10 minutes of that episode would be silence, and Shinji being emo. Half the episodes are just him whining about his father issues and how he hates using the eva's.

And don't even get me started on the ending movie.

Ergo Proxy. Bar none.

Funnily enough, a friend of mine who was trying to get me into anime showed me the first few episodes as an example. And, to be fair, they got me intrigued. It did that whole 'playing it's cards close to the chest' thing really well, and got me very interested in the complex mysteries it wove. Years later (a few months ago) I remembered it, and got the box set.

It kept up the mystery and intrigue for episode after episode, constantly assailing me with scene after scene of vague, pretentious, aloof dialogue that was near incomprehensible. At the time, I thought this was simply a rather daring move, keeping it's secrets until the final episodes.

Then, without any explanation, the characters appear on a game show. For a whole episode.

Let me reiterate: the main characters go from a grim, dark, post-apocalyptic world to a fun, campy gameshow without any explanation whatsoever... and then go straight back to the above-mentioned grim landscape off-screen, not bothering to explain what just happened or why. You can't even dismiss it as a fantasy or a dream, as another character watches the gameshow on TV and learns important information from it!

Then, oh but then, comes the final episode. You'd imagine they'd use this important half hour to wrap up the storyline and explain everything that has occurred thus far.

Do they bollocks. Instead, we just get more vague, overwritten dialogue that doesn't make sense for another half an hour, and then it just stops. Yippee.

If the above rant didn't tip you off, here is Ergo Proxy in a nutshell:
great opening that builds mystery... building it... still building it... building it to unbelievably confusing and impossible-to-explain levels that require entire essays just to figure out what the flying fuck is happening... end.

Dear God I hate this series.

And don't come to me trying to explain the 'clever symbolism' and 'intricate, subtle mechanics of the storyline'. My point is this: such things are appropriate when there is a strong foundation that an average layman will enjoy. You can talk about the symbolism in Fritz Lang's Metropolis until the cows come home, it's still a bloated mess that goes nowhere and has one of the stupidest endings imaginable. Then take a movie like The Wizard of Oz. Sure, there;s been plenty said on it's supposed gay subtext and the like, but remember: an average person can still enjoy it as just a magical tale of a teenage girl being swept away into a fantasy land. That's my problem. Symbolise whatever you want in a story, but if I can't enjoy a story without knowing about the subtexts and symbolism, it's not a good story.

Urotsukidoji IV. Despite the whole Urotsukidoji franchise being infamous for it's more perverse aspects, I was able to see past that and enjoy the somewhat compelling storyline (not to mention amusingly bad dialogue at times), but with IV, they instead put the story to one side and focus almost entirely on the shock value.

The first two episodes are actually nothing but filler that offer nothing towards the main storyline. Having filler episodes makes more sense when it's a long running anime based on an ongoing manga, but for an OVA series, it's kinda ridiculous.

The last episode wasn't particularly satisfying either. One of the more badass looking characters hardly gets any decent screentime before getting killed off, and the ending just sorta implies that it's meant to be a good ending before the credits roll.

Both Hellsing series, though the second one is at least bearable. Dokuro-Chan was recommended to me by some punk off the internet but all it was was Torture Porn anime-style.

It's hard to determine which anime was the most disappointing.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and Gurren Lagann weren't really disappointing for me, I knew from the start that they were overhyped and mediocre. Actually below mediocre, my benchmark for mediocrity is Melody Of Oblivion, which is about as mediocre as it can get, and I liked that more than Haruhi and Gurren Lagann.

I'm guessing Soultaker would have to be my choice for the most disappointing. I heard it was bad but I wasn't prepared for how bad it actually was. The only good thing about Soultaker was that it spawned a totally awesome "spin-off" with Nurse Witch Komugi-Chan.

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed with HSotD at times. I mean I came for the whole zombie survival story (even if its not that original) and some of the characters were interesting; but damn if the fan service wasn't annoying. Needless panty-shots, jello breasts, stupidly out-of-place sexuality. Still enjoyed it somewhat, but I could have definately done without the fan service.
