Most emotional video game endings?

all the mgs games, mostly 4 just because its the end off the saga. i felt so guilty for thinking meryl was a *****, nearly brought a tear to my eye.

Uh Final Fantasy always has emotional endings, 7 was pretty sad until they retconned it to make sequels. The ending (cancellation) of Starcraft Ghost made me rather angry, does that count?

Final Fantasy X and X-2 were both like that for me. I had such an investment in the characters, and I was actually sad that the games were coming to an end, because I enjoyed them so much.

Beat me to it. Ending of FFX made me go "awwwww" because of the fact that I trained my characters to complete every single inch of the game. Monster Arena, Dark Aeons etc. Seeing what happens at the end to Tidus made me go banana sad.

I was glad when I heard about X-2 but, then again, the ending, same result. Sad

Depending on which ending you get, Heavy Rain can be extremely emotional.

And I concur with everyone who said FFX and MGS4.

MGS3 on the otherhand... I don't get why it was so sad.

Read Dead Redemption was most likely the most emotionally charged ending I have experienced in a game, but my personal favorite ending is from Far Cry 2. It wasn't sad per-say but I felt like it wrapped up the story nicely.

I remember shedding some tears during the last part of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Ring of Fates. the part where you walked around the town and talked to everyone and no one knew you or your sister anymore was fairly sad, but when your sister died I was allz like "but now he's all alone D;"

Well not exactly an ending to a game, but to one of its campaigns (hell, could well be a game's ending, so I'll go ahead and say it).

Best cinematic of anything ever.

Aye, that is indeed a great cinematic, still stirs something in me now, it's great they managed to make the two orcs characters you could feel for and guenuinly attatched too.

I don't know really, most of the ones I can think of aint ending cinematics, and I havent played MGS4 so... imma go for FFX I guess.

There was no X-2.

Basically all Final Fantasy games. I mean you spend SOOO much time with the characters and then its over. Its so sad, I want it to keep going!

I got the good ending to X-2. Made me vewy vewy happy.

But I never got to finish X. The game kept on FREEZING after the battle with Sinspawn Gui. You know, the one where you get to use Seymour's epic Rapture move? But I figured out what happened anyway.

Assassin's Creed 2 turned my mind into mushu pork.

Squeenix's games have the most emotional endings.

GTAIV's was interesting, because it left me feeling exactly how Niko felt: disheartened and disappointed with the world (as in Liberty City)

Well, FFVIII, FFX, and Kingdom Hearts made me cry. A lot. Also probably shed happy tears and just a few at the end of FFX-2 and KH2.

I'm surprised nobody has said it yet, but the most emotional ending in a game for me was The Darkness.

Where Jackie and Jenni were reunited in the after life for a short time before he was brought back to the real world, that's about as emotional as it gets when you have the time to say goodbye to the one you love.

Right, im a big softie and got really :'( at the end of 'Crisis Core' and 'Final Fantasy X'
THEY WERE SO SAD AT THE END.

Yeah, Crisis Core had one of the saddest endings in my experience. Also, Shadow of the Collossus.

OH! And before I forget, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops had a VERY emotional ending.
