Red dead Redemption's ending surprised me of course but since everyone has said that game I'll list some more.

Persona 3 had an awesome ending but the final boss took the good part of two hours to beat.

Mass Effect 2 especially if you do the ending where you fail horribly and everyone dies.

All of the metal gear solids except 2 of course.

And the good ending of Bioshock I can't believe no one has said that yet.

Mass effect 2
why because of my poor leadership and preparedness it cost the life of GARRUS!
Despite how annoying a character she is, near the end Miranda really grew on me, so I was upset that she died due to her loss of loyalty. If I could re-do that, I would never have taken Jack's side in that, I cared a lot more about Miranda.

She died in my arms right after the last boss too! :(

I know it's going to be, and probably already has been, brought up over and over again in this topic, but...

Red Dead Redemption.
After holding off the U.S. Army who are trying to murder you and your family you... shite, words don't do the ending justice. Just watch this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9832BrE2q4
You do know there's a stranger quest in blackwater where you can hunt down and kill Ross as Jack?

Nier. Oh yes Nier, hands down. A, B and C endings, anyway. They made me gradually sadder and sadder and I actually cried with C. D just got me angry. Although a little sad too.

Whoa, hold up a sec... how on earth did you people get your crew killed in the end of Mass Effect 2? I thought the only companion who you could kill was Sammara, the old Asari lady.

Anyway... on topic:

Half-Life 2 Ep2. I don't think I need to explain this one.

Ico. When she puts him on the little boat. *sniff*

Bioshock. The good ending. Yes, I know, it was all soppy and sentimental and cutesy. But I don't care. I liked it.

(We have had this thread so many times. And yet, I type out a new reply every time. Damnit.)

Metal Gear Solid 3 and Portal

Also Mass Effect 2.

I lost the doctor, Jack and Grunt during the last fight. Why Grunt?! Dammit.
Well at least Tali made it out alive

One particular ending of <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.163769-Neutral-Drow-reviews-Kanon>Kanon (specifically <color=aliceblue>Makoto's). Mizuki's happy ending from <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.135672-Neutral-Drow-reviews-A-Drug-That-Makes-You-Dream>A Drug That Makes You Dream. A couple of candidates from <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.206764-Neutral-Drow-reviews-Kana-Little-Sister>Kana: Little Sister (most particularly "Out of the Maze" and "The First Farewell").

Just for me. I'd probably pick either the Kanon ending or "The First Farewell."

Red Dead Redemption

That's not fair. It's really sad when he looks through the crack in the barn door and knows what's going to happen.

*steps outside*

Bring it, motherfuckers.

I liked the ending of The Lost and Damned.
Combined with the main theme, it was just fucking bittersweet good.
From GTA SA:
See you around, officer.
Now, CJ is pretty much a non-person. But looking back on the game, it kinda made me make a sad smile.
And Bioshock 2. I
ended up with the neutral ending, in which Eleanor kills her mum+all the little sisters, but doesn't go insane (because I decided to die :(). It was just fucking sad, but the good and the bad endings were to generic for my taste.

I'd have to go with the ending to Kingdom Hearts 2. I thought it was really powerful.

Buthappiness is also an emotion, so the Portal ending. Still Alive will stick with me for years

I agree for Kana: Little Sister, even before the actual endings it makes you cry. I can't bare to watch the scene before the intellectual endings. For me all the endings I have gotten so far have been sad to the point of tears.
