ArmA II is the most realistic game ever released, hands down. There is no question, you can not dispute this.
ive seen alot of ARMA2 footage, and it doesnt like anything like realism. ive seen someone getting stuck on his parachute because the chute itself hitted the ground first.

on topic, ill go with Rainbow Six Vegas 2. you die from anything in 1-3 shots, the aiming isnt pin-point like in call of duty.

Half-Life series I had a few instances that I turned my head instead of the mouse
your kidding, right? the half life series is probably the farthest you get from realism without including space marines. how can a 27-year old doctor beat up tons of alien dudes with a crowbar without getting shot to giblets?

The games that pop into my head are Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth and Operation Flashpoint. Call of Cthulhu really drags the player into it due to the complete lack of a HUD, no health meter, no ammo counter, no compass. If the player starts panting, groaning, and dragging his leg you need to put a splint on the leg and wrap it with bandages, maybe inject a little morphine. Get hit in the arm and your aim will be all over the place. See enough mutilated corpses, fishmen, and old ones in short enough period of time will push the character over the edge, he'll start talking to himself, including his id, ego, and superego, and eventually he'll commit suicide. I'll never forget the second time I played through it, going through a tenement building and noticing a woman in the corner. Upon closer inspection she was dead, and insects were crawling on her, going in and out of her ears and mouth. Amazing game if you're into Lovecraft and insanity.

This is search bar approved. Really.

What is the most realistic game?

My candidit is actually a huge strech.

Indigo prophecey.

Their are pills and alchohal on a counter. Take both, and your charecter dies.

Friggen awesome.

Even the first sequence is completeley beleivable. Run out the front door, causing panic and leaving little for the police to go on, or dispose of the weapon, hide the body, clean yourself up and pay the check, at the risk of the waitress getting a good look at your face.

I know the second half turns a corner at batshit blvd. but in a situation like that, Its beleivable how the eents would unfold.

This gets the search bar seal of approval

EDIT: no simulator games.
Dude... play further into the game. It's very unrealistic.
I'm going to go with Call of Duty 4. The way the game plays out, is pretty goddamn accurate for the way a covert ops special force operates. Plus the bullet damage is realistic, and the way they move is just perfect.
But while Indigo Prophecy (for me, Fahrenheit) starts off awesome, it quickly turns to shit... :*(

If anybody has seen the gameplay of the new OFP2 then you'll choose it over ArmA 2.

You can command your squad to raid buildings and stuff it looks so badass.

Farcry 2 on the condition that the damage system is fixed
...and the condition that you don't have syringes full of Chuck Norris's tears
Yes... so realistic, removing a bullet stops him from going into cardiac arrrest, and apparently in that game, bandages are absorbed into the skin. You have to slap a new one on everytime. The bullets leave no scars, just pull out the bullet in an extremely visceral manner and you're on your way!

Final Fantasy X. Seriously, bear with me...

... [small] Fine, I lied.[/small]

There was a WW2 game a little while back with pretty much no HUD and about two shots killed you. It was very realistic, but utter crap. I can't recall the name...
Was it a sniping one where you had to calculate the shot judging by wind speed, distance, humidity, etc. and half the time you couldn't fucking see the bastards you're shooting at coz their so MOTHERFUCKING far away? Or was that sniper elite?

Bushido Blade had realistic combat, as I recall. Getting stabbed in the leg made you limp around the place, and you could end the fight with a single well-timed stab to a vital area.

Americas Army 3. Hands down the most realistic fps. They adjusted the guns to real specs, you only get one life at the beginning of the round, and your gun will jam.
I have to agree, being a big fan of FPS games the AA series is the most realistic I have played to date.

Operation: Flashpoint and the ARMA series as far as FPSs go.
It's nearly impossible to get more realistic than this. OFP, ArmA, and ArmA 2 all the way! They beat out COD in every way in terms of realism. Hell, the U.S. Marines and ADF train with VBS2!

And I realize that the OP edited in a, "No simulators," rule, but if I did not mention Falon 4.0: Allied Force or DCS: Black Shark, I would be leaving out some of the most realistic games/sims around.

The most realistic driving game is probably iRacing, an online racing game which is used by professional racing drivers to practice circuits. Like many driving sims, it goes above and beyond the call of duty to bring authentic racing action.
Have you actually tried iRacing? I'm kinda curious about it, but I've heard there is a rather steep learning curve, it is difficult to get started. I'm not big into racing games, but if it's as realistic as I have heard it is, then I think I could really get into it.

SWAT 4 is what pops to my mind first. I would say Far Cry 2, also, but the fact that you can endure as many bullets as a bloody tank, kinda kills the otherwise well-done realism.
