Rap, I just dont get whats so appealing in it, its just some guy rapping with a simple background beat.

And some of the black and death metal. (Not melodeath or melodic black metal though)

Whatever 30 Seconds To Mars are, emo or something. And almost all metalcore. And pretty much everything NME promotes/covers/plays. I loathe hipster bands...

Awkward chap with high-strung Telecaster and higher-strung voice with puberty beard whining-next. Awkward chap with keyboard that he can't stop staring at with even higher strung voice and puberty mustache-NEXT!

Most rap music, pop and some R&B. I also can't stand dance music, electro and techno.

Oh and I don't like death metal either (though strangely I like melodic death metal)

Any and all rap or hiphop, mainstream shitty pop, dubstep and other remixed bullshit, RnB, grunge, dance music and extreme death metal.
Pretty much this. ^

I would add that some mainstream rock songs really annoy me. Some don't, but some do, it depends on the band.

You also have an Iron Maiden avatar, who happen to be my favourite band.

Commercial rock.
Pop music past the 1980's.
Soft country music. No Jack Daniels and revolvers involved? It ain't country.
Technical Death Metal. I am looking at you Dying Fetus.
Metal bands when they stop trying to be a metal band and actually encounter the thought that they should be able to pay bills with their band alone. Known as In Flames, Arch Enemy, Children of Bodom, and Soilwork Syndrome.
Psuedo-rock ALA Radiohead, Mars Volta, At the Drive In.
Douchebags with a political message over any actual meaning to their music: Rage Against the Machine.
Gangsta Rap, Hip Hop, and Commercial Rap.

Good man. \m/

I agree, some mainstream rock is a pile of steaming shit, and rock isn't my thing anyway, but in general it's not as bad as the listed genres.

That's true of lots of genres though. Take rap for instance. When people say they hate rap do they mean they hate.
I've noticed on this site people hate what they know, that being whatever is on TV, so 50 Cent and other such cunts.

OT: Metal, Punk Rock, Dance and Dubstep.

Let's see... Most rap, especially the stuff where it's a some guy rapping the whole time, never changing tone or having a chorus, over an irritating back beat. The older stuff was easier to hear, and they changed their tone a bit. Still don't like back beats, they tend to annoy me. Rap-metal is pretty cool, except lots of times they still have little dj scratch noises in the background, which still annoys me.

Death Metal. The music is annoying, and a lot of the fans (especially on Encyclopedia Metallum) seem to think that it's the only good kind of metal, and so on and so forth. I describe it as "BLAAH! I so BRUTAL! LOVE ME!" because if you replace brutal with angst and metal with pop-punk, it's the same as Emo. That said, I do like the occasional Melo-Death band. Children of Bodom, etc, although that's more despite the Death rather than because of it.

Singer-Songwriter. Oh GOD I hate this. Warren Zevon is the only one I like, and I don't know if he counts. To me, it sounds like country, minus anything approaching listen-ability. At least you can make fun of Country lyrics* while listening, but singer-songwriters have such bland songs it's impossible to not cry. You know how when you're listening to an awesome album, and stuck way at the end is an irritating ballad to draw in the art crowd, or most likely get a better Rolling Stones review. Now imagine a genre of music that's pretty much only that ballad. It's okay, it makes me cry too.

*Most lyrics (Power metal, holy shit) can be laughed at, their just really easy to hear in country, and there's the accent.

I hate metal. Sorry, but I can't stand it.
You should be dissapointed with your self! Metal is the one and only good genre left in the music industry! Everything else is made through the clicks of a mouse, not acctually practising and playing on instruments.

Plus metal is fucking awesome!

Ladies and Gentleman I present; your average metal fan.

Your last two posts are so hilariously close minded I don't know where to begin...
Now I don't think it's fair to call him average. I like metal, but even my most hated genres just make me want to leave, I don't care if others listen to them or not. Hell, I could probably even date the worlds biggest singer-song writer fan, as long as we both promised not too make each other listen to our music. He's the average metal fan that hangs out at Encyclopedia Metallum all the time, maybe. Or the ones that make youtube comments about the Metal Militia. Most of us don't give a shit what others listen to, and your post claiming that is just as bad as him saying the guy should like metal more.

Most genres have at least something good. Crunkcore however, can go rot in a ditch.
For me, it's this. I give every genre a chance to surprise me, but ones such as pop have a harder job of doing it. My musical tastes are extremely diverse, but Crunkcore can go suffer a painful death.

Rap - This one itself doesn't bug me, it's the way people think of it. IT'S NOT MUSIC. MUSIC HAS A MELODY. Rap is more like poetry, and I really think it needs to be treated as such.
personally i quite like hip-hop and while i agree that it does not focus on melody i don't think that not doing so robs it of it status as music. Consider please, the rhythm and it's part in music. Hip-hop is rhythmic and that is in my opinion just as valid a musical focus as a melody. rap, the vocals, are, as you say, centered on poetry but not only that. Switches between different deliveries, rhythmic tools and varying types of emphasis display a controlled and deliberate attention to musicality. Rap is defined within Hiphop kulture as Rhythm And Poetry.

please don't take this as a flame. I respect your opinion but i disagree.

anyway, returning to the hatred:

i can't stand soft rock or easy listening. I seem to dose of every time it goes on.
that, and death metal. growling just grates my ears.
