While I have heard many people say I'm wrong, I find Tool to have some really good songs - my favorite song of all time is without a doubt "Lateralus"
I totally agree, Tool are amazing.

OT: Alestorm are quite good aswell as Apocalyptica, Creature Feature and Penumbra.

Just keep looking.

I actually found out about a cool new blues guy from watching Top Gear. Dude named Seasick Steve. He's awesome. :D
Seasick Steve is a fuckin GOD.
Music ain´t dead mate, it´s just that, well most people forgot what good music is, so it isn´t really in the mainstream. There are still good new musicians coming out, unless you like pop music and miss the days of good michael jackson and prince, in which case, i feel sorry for you, cause pop music really died. Horribly.

What do you get when you mix Led Zeppelin, Queens of the Stone Age, and the Foo Fighters?

[small]Them.[/small] Crooked. Vultures.
Got to admit personally I don't like them. Even though I like Led Zpeelin, the Foo Fighters and about two Queen of the Stone Age songs. I just think they don't mix well together, sounding like they all do their own thing but of course thats just my own opinion.

Oh dear lord this is reminding me of Eggo.
Please do not rant on about how you are musical yourself, and only your taste is the real taste. Please. Please. Please.

A little more OT:
What? Music is dead?
If all else fails, and you're a user of iTunes such as myself, the genius recommendations tend to work incredibly well.

Im not gonna lie to you, the fact you think music is dead is more of a testament to your poor ability to use search engines and lack of friends with music know how than actual proof of musics demise. Since you think tenacious D (haha ha...ha?) is the last good music you heard then I'm really not sure that anyone can help you find any music that comes up to your "high standard". Why don't you just bash yourself over the head with a frying pan and dance to that?

It's obvious you're not looking in the right places. If you're not a fan of mainstream music, don't go looking for music you'd like in the mainstream.

so im looking to listen to some new good music....
Hahahahahahahahaha!

OT: You should search for bands that no one has heard of for the genre you like. Those bands normally have very good music.

Oh, and yay Tenacious D!

Music isn't dead. Who made you think that?
Oh, I see... Miley Cyrus....

Well, I've got some suggestions into putting your mind at ease. What do you feel about Swedish rock?

Nocturnal Rites, Europe, In Flames, April Divine, Nomy...
Only naming a few there. Check them out.

YOU'LL FUCKIN' LOVE'M!

There are loads of great bands out now, both big and small, your obviously just not looking and claiming that because modern mainstream music doesn't appeal to your tastes that it must be dead.

You have to look in the right places. There's a highly talented, more 'underground' artist known as Ronald Jenkees.

Still think music is dead?
Sounds like Cypress Hill had sex with a bunch of violins and after that, threw up on all the electronic equipment

OT: Yes music is dead. However it is less how music has evolved and more how PEOPLE have evolved. Leave me alone with Lady Gaga and I'll claw her tounge out with my muddy fingernails.

so im looking to listen to some new good music....unfortunately there is none to be found. so then i looked onto youtube just for a small glimpse of hope. first names that come up are justin beaver, lady gaga, rihanaana, and miley cyrus. it then occurs to me that no one sent me a letter or an email to Music's funeral. How long has it been dead, seriously? it really saddens me that the last good band that i know of is Tenacious D. Any thoughts on this?

YouTube at thine own Peril. Might I reccomend Pandora?

Music is very much alive, you're just looking in the wrong places. And by the sound of it, you're not even trying very hard.

Try progressive rock. It's my favorite genre. Here are two artists to get you started:

The Moody Blues (Listen to the album "The Best of the Moody Blues)
The Alan Parson's Project (Listen to the album "Tales of Mystery and Imagination")

If those don't appeal to you, I got tons more. PM if you want more suggestions.

EDIT: Pandora online radio is amazing. Try that too.

OP, you're talking out of your ass. There's so much good music to be found everywhere you look, in rock, punk and metal. Rancid, Against Me!, Cancer Bats, The Bronx, The Gaslight Anthem. These are some of my current favourite bands and they're all proof that many different kinds of rock are thriving. Don't be ignorant and pessemistic
Read Rock Sound magazine, that'll open your eyes
