There is usally some little nugget of truth in all of this things.

We just have to find it in the metric ton of caked on shit and lies.

I was reading my health textbook today and it says that the majority or dating violence and shootings happen due to people playing video games.

Do you guys think they should put stuff like that in textbooks?

Sadly, you are all guilty of the same accusations you are throwing at your own opponents: of not having perspective.

Video games DO cause increased aggression and violence. This is an indisputable fact, backed by numerous case studies and experiments (and yes, there ARE peer reviewed experiments, done on gamers of ALL ages, and not just those who play violent video games; to argue that you cannot think of a viable experiment is an argument from ignorance or lack of imagination).
No they don't. I read about 20 or so of those studies(there are only about 30 of them), and a large number of them were fairly biased. Video games increase the potential to be aggressive and irritability, but not violence.

Well, most people here are responding to the OP I think.

The assertion described in the original post seems to be more extreme than than your assertion that violent video games result in increased aggression. Although much of the backlash here has been irrational, some level of backlash seems warranted if the OP's claims are legitimate.

Other than that, I found your take on this to be very refreshing.

People have been shooting each other since well before video games wear invented. If that textbook actually said that, transfer to a different school.

Fuck it. It's just a book. It's not going to bring an end to gaming.
Quite agreed :) good man
Tell me something I don't know!

Who cares if their are a few more video game haters out there, it's not going to ruin our hobby (it's a hobby, not a culture or way of life). All these people ever do is talk out of their ass.

I find ironic to blame video games on dating violence when gamers don't date a whole lot.

We all know that video games don't cause violent behavior and are indeed and outlet for that behavior. So why is this causing so much outrage? I mean, if you know the truth then what other people say doesn't mean shit.

It's all down to the individual. If a person is unable to distinguish the difference between a virtual and the real world or the difference between right and wrong, they are dangerous of their own accord, but the media interprets it as a cause-and-effect relationship between the habits of this generation and they way we act. No one can doubt that sometime in the 60's and 70's that violence never happened and it is all because of video games that we have lost our morals.
