Despite having little interest in the sport in real life or any other game within the genre, I always feel it's necessary to have a football game. In my case, it's Pro Evolution Soccer 6. Several years old by now, but it still gets dragged out every so often as a nice break from the plastic guitars.

I also completely fail to see the point in racing games as a whole, but particularly the car-based kind - I don't drive in real life, hence I have no interest in cars, so why would I want to play a video game based on them? I can, however, see the entertainment in the less realistic ones. Mario Kart has always been entertaining. Also, despite being sort of car-based, Burnout 3 was a lot of fun as a spectacle - who doesn't love watching cars get mangled?

I was never huge on overly stealthy games, but Tenchu Z (I know fans of the series will rip me to shreds for this) really hit the spot for me.

Something about sneaking up behind a guy, leaping onto his shoulders and stabbing a sword DOWN his throat really hit a special (if not disturbing) spot for me.

I'm gratified by how many people like F-Zero GX as a racing game. I thought I was a lonely, lonely soul out there. Mine is Goldeneye and a little Perfect Dark with the genre being FPS of course. Granted this was back when auto-aim was still big but really I can't hit anything without it to save my life. Literally. Being able to hit what I was looking at made me capable of thinking beyond the controls to actually being able to form strategy. I miss the Golden Gun.

RTS and Dawn of War (and it's expansions) and Warcraft III.
Well, I don't necessarily HATE RTSs, but I often find them to be boring.
Warcraft III and Dawn of War were great games, though.

Also, racing and Pure.
Racing I also find boring very often, but Pure I loved. A LOT.

Not a big fan of racing games, but I rather like Burnout. Not to race, mind you; I just like crash mode. Had a drinkin' and drivin' "experiment" (party) at my house with it once to see if the crashes got any bigger after a few.

Yes, very politically incorrect. I know.

I haven't been big on football games for a long time, i always found the controls to be unnecessarily complicated and if i wanted to play football i would justm, you know, grab a football and go play.

That said, I LOVED the arena football game back on the PS2. That was a total blast. Me and my friend played that to death. good times.

I generally don't go for survival horrors but I'll be damned if Dead Space isn't fun for me. It might have even sold me on the genre. Can anyone recommend any good survival horrors for the 360?
condemned 1, the second is ok, but the first is so scary and immersive, plus its like 10 bucks.
This is the only game that can actually scare me.

I generally hate first-person shooters, as they are all too "generic" to me. But did love playing Resistance for some reason. I think the story kept me going in that one.

Resistance 2 not so much however.

Starcraft and Age of Empires II I guess. While I don't really hate RTS's i generally suck so bad at them that I turn to excessive self-loathing after mostly the 3-4th mission

I really love Tetris in all it's incarnations. I've played it ever since I first saw it in arcades and later for my 486 IBM PC. Yet, in general, I really don't like puzzle games. I tend to avoid them and almost never pay for them. About the only other puzzle game I really like is Puzzle Quest as it at least has a compelling RPG-like story to follow and it plays well on my DS.

I usually dislike hack n' slash games, because mashing A or X or does not feel fun. I did fall in love with No More Heroes dispite that. I also have not been a fan of platformers since the 2D Mario days, but Mirror's Edge was a great breath of fresh air.

I never bought the full game, but I really enjoyed the demo for skies of arcadia. The genre that I distaste is turned based JRPGs. Oh and I really liked Pokémon as well...

You should check out some shooting games on the Wii sometime, that pointer function is fantastic.. Metroid Prime 3, Resident Evil 4 are some games with shooting but not FPS.. you got some on rails arcade style shooters with Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles and House of the Dead 2/3 Return and House of the Dead Overkill, and coming soon.. the conduit..

With a wiimote you can point at the screen and shoot what you're pointing at.. it's intuitive and a lot of people found it better to aim with, hence the RE4 Wii edition had the easy/normal modes removed and the default difficulty is hard mode. Shows you how much easier it is to aim and shoot like that.

I hate music games, but I dig Lips.

I hate RTS games, but...that actually hasn't changed, even after playing Starcraft.

I hate most games that force excessive amounts of grinding, but I love Dragon Quest Monsters, its likely due to the fact that you get a new monster every time you breed, thus making the grind feel new.
