This happened to me the very first time I played Demolition in CoD 4. I was so stunned and angry that people could be so fucking stupid.
Ok, this is awkward...BloodyThoughts said:Grr, I hate it so much when im playing a game like MW2, trying to do what the objective of the game is. When all of a sudden im told not to.
It just happened to me, I was playing...MW2 and I was just about to set a charge on an objective (I was playing demolition)when all of a sudden some little kid, id say 11, maybe 12, screams into the mic , "NOOOOOOOOO!" in a manner that would make Darth Vader jealous. Next thing he says is, "Don't plant the bomb you idiot! Im trying to get a nuke!"
...
WHAT!
You have got to be kidding me! Just because you want a kill streak, doesn't mean im going to stop from doing what we are instructed to do! Then, some one probably 18 yells out, "Hey jackass, your such a noob for planting the damn bomb!" Followed up by the kid saying, "Yeah! You should go kill yourself!"
The irony here is that I won us the game by just one second.
So, has this ever happened to you on, well, any game that has multiplayer? Where your trying to so what the task says, then someone else tells you not to?
Are you frelling kidding me?Shoes said:Tf2 ftw.
Seriously that game is awesome and stuff like that happening is rare in it.
one of my favorite servers in TF2 is toybox because it is entirly liniar and aside from stairing at a wall your always helping your team because all the enemey are in one direction and it just comes down to taking the control points which is easier said then done and matches usualy last for several hours due to unlimited fight timeFlour said:Not really a surprise, every objective-based game will somehow be turned in a TDM.
TF2 has some rare servers where nobody bothers with the objective. Call of Duty(all games) is rare to have a proper gametype. CSS has hundreds of (team)deathmatch mod servers.
I think it's the announcer in TF2 that somehow manages to get players to work together and try to win the objective.
I don't actually mind the snipers, because even if they're less helpful than say, a medic on the front lines, they're still thinning enemy lines and creating windows of opportunities to plant the bomb.Irridium said:Agreed.j0z said:That is my #1 complaint. Snipers might rack up some kills for themselves, but on offense they don't do much to actually help their team win. especially when it is Rush, and defenders have unlimited reinforcements.Irridium said:Thats because DICE was smart enough to not include any specific multiplayer achievements.j0z said:your playing MW2, what do you expect?
This happens in about any game with achievements or the like, although I haven't noticed it in BC2 yet...
Only things like "blow up 1000 walls" and "kill 5 people with every pistol" and a few more for ranking up and getting ribbons.
Although lots of people seem to like sniping on offence on Rush.
You can't win the game if you sit on your asses sniping all the time
I wouldn't have a problem with it if all the snipers kept everyone on the other team at bay. If I have 10 snipers on my team. I expect every enemy to be dead, and me just able to walk in and plant the bomb, then do my thing while the snipers watch the bomb.
Sadly that isn't the case, and its a problem.

No! Not me. But I was just at my cousin's house at around 2:30 today, and my cousin, who was playing Search and Destroy on Skidrow, said to whoever was defusing the bomb "Don't defuse, let's play one more round." Was the guy who said "Hey jackass, your such a noob for planting the damn bomb!" go by the name of R2D Atmosphere?
On and off. most of the time it's pretty good, but on one occasion I was playing domination and my entire team camped around a single point, and then were pissed that I went and captured other points because "it ruined their camps" (which made no sense to me because I never both of the other point at the same time in the game). The most annoying thing was that they were surprised that we lost 25 - 200 (despite my best efforts)BloodyThoughts said:Grr, I hate it so much when im playing a game like MW2, trying to do what the objective of the game is. Yeah, probably something to do with that harsh tone, and constant reminder.Flour said:Not really a surprise, every objective-based game will somehow be turned in a TDM.

This is even more ridiculous. I like the rank idea and whatnot, getting rewards and stuffs. However, it should never come before gameplay itself, if it does then you be teh n00b. But who cares if the other teams get points? Do you mean ranking points, or do these affect that game?tsb247 said:For some reason this reminds me of when I used to play C&C Renegade online.
I remember teammates cussing at me for repairing buildings. They reasoned that since the other team got points for every shot that hit a building, it was better to let the building be destroyed than to grant the other team more points by prolonging the life of said building.
Here's the problem with that:
If the barracks were destroyed, you could no longer purchase specialized infantry. If the war factory was destroyed, you could no longer purchase tanks, and if the refinery was destroyed, your whole team would lose a valuable source of income. In a sense, my teammates would rather lose the benefits of a valuable building (losing tanks, money, and infantry) than let the enemy get a few thousand points by hitting a building with a few rockets. Without being able to attack with equal force in that game, you were doomed to lose anyhow, so why sacrifice something so important and ensure a loss? It has always baffled me.
I have never experienced the stupidity described in other games, but then again, I don't play much MP anymore due to my tastes shifting from arcady FPS games to more realistic ones that have more mature communities.
