"No! Don't get the flag!" But, that's the objective, "NOOOOO!"

This happened to me the very first time I played Demolition in CoD 4. I was so stunned and angry that people could be so fucking stupid.

Grr, I hate it so much when im playing a game like MW2, trying to do what the objective of the game is. When all of a sudden im told not to.

It just happened to me, I was playing...MW2 and I was just about to set a charge on an objective (I was playing demolition)when all of a sudden some little kid, id say 11, maybe 12, screams into the mic , "NOOOOOOOOO!" in a manner that would make Darth Vader jealous. Next thing he says is, "Don't plant the bomb you idiot! Im trying to get a nuke!"
...
WHAT!
You have got to be kidding me! Just because you want a kill streak, doesn't mean im going to stop from doing what we are instructed to do! Then, some one probably 18 yells out, "Hey jackass, your such a noob for planting the damn bomb!" Followed up by the kid saying, "Yeah! You should go kill yourself!"
The irony here is that I won us the game by just one second.

So, has this ever happened to you on, well, any game that has multiplayer? Where your trying to so what the task says, then someone else tells you not to?
Ok, this is awkward...

No! Not me. But I was just at my cousin's house at around 2:30 today, and my cousin, who was playing Search and Destroy on Skidrow, said to whoever was defusing the bomb "Don't defuse, let's play one more round." Was the guy who said "Hey jackass, your such a noob for planting the damn bomb!" go by the name of R2D Atmosphere?

This is one reason I enjoy playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex on the Wii ("that's not a real console". I've heard this reply so many times) I don't hear people yelling "Don't plant! I need more kills!" (I often play Sabotage).

I also never understood the whole "stats" or "k/d ratio" thing. I know what they are, but I don't know why people are so worked up about them. When I'm at my cousin's house ('cause he has Xbox Live and I don't), he constantly talks "needing a higher k/d ratio", or some shit.

Tf2 ftw.

Seriously that game is awesome and stuff like that happening is rare in it.
Are you frelling kidding me?

Granted, I think it's stopped now that unlocks are given randomly, but you had tons of servers (most of which weren't marked as achievement grind servers) full of people just trying to get the unlocks, and screaming at you to GTFO if you wanted to play an actual game.

Pisses me the fuck right off.

Not really a surprise, every objective-based game will somehow be turned in a TDM.

TF2 has some rare servers where nobody bothers with the objective. Call of Duty(all games) is rare to have a proper gametype. CSS has hundreds of (team)deathmatch mod servers.

I think it's the announcer in TF2 that somehow manages to get players to work together and try to win the objective.
one of my favorite servers in TF2 is toybox because it is entirly liniar and aside from stairing at a wall your always helping your team because all the enemey are in one direction and it just comes down to taking the control points which is easier said then done and matches usualy last for several hours due to unlimited fight time

your playing MW2, what do you expect?
This happens in about any game with achievements or the like, although I haven't noticed it in BC2 yet...
Thats because DICE was smart enough to not include any specific multiplayer achievements.
Only things like "blow up 1000 walls" and "kill 5 people with every pistol" and a few more for ranking up and getting ribbons.

Although lots of people seem to like sniping on offence on Rush.

You can't win the game if you sit on your asses sniping all the time
That is my #1 complaint. Snipers might rack up some kills for themselves, but on offense they don't do much to actually help their team win. especially when it is Rush, and defenders have unlimited reinforcements.
Agreed.

I wouldn't have a problem with it if all the snipers kept everyone on the other team at bay. If I have 10 snipers on my team. I expect every enemy to be dead, and me just able to walk in and plant the bomb, then do my thing while the snipers watch the bomb.

Sadly that isn't the case, and its a problem.
I don't actually mind the snipers, because even if they're less helpful than say, a medic on the front lines, they're still thinning enemy lines and creating windows of opportunities to plant the bomb.

The assholes who camp the UAV station are a different matter though.

PROBABLY NOT THE SAME THING HERE, but why do people in TF2 Arena servers prefer to wipe out the entire team rather than capping the point? (Bleh, sucky grammar sucks.) It'd make the most sense to get more people to play faster, rather than waiting for two spies to finally find each other and then chase each other down with knives, cloaks, and no guns.

MW2 forced me to stop using a Mic.

I would get so infuriated, I would just yell. I made an 8th grader cry.

OT: I don't plant/cap on one of two occasions

1. My teammates are doing it, or I'm defending
2. If I'm just trying to have fun, and be a dumbass.

Happened alot in War Rock, one team would be winning and would camp the losing teams spawn zone with tanks and choppers so they cant do anything until the time runs out. People do crap to get high score and ratios. Like camp, camping isnt that fun but it helps your 'score'. Unless your a sniper, a sniper on the right map i can forgive, the guy with a shotgun in a bathtub in a cave in a vault i cant forgive, especially when i need a bath.

On and off. most of the time it's pretty good, but on one occasion I was playing domination and my entire team camped around a single point, and then were pissed that I went and captured other points because "it ruined their camps" (which made no sense to me because I never both of the other point at the same time in the game). The most annoying thing was that they were surprised that we lost 25 - 200 (despite my best efforts)

Yeah, probably something to do with that harsh tone, and constant reminder.

Although, even then you'll see some morons, useually the sniper's who don't at least stand near the cart, or when the certain heavy hitter classes refuse to move up.

EDIT: Also, the only time you ever really see: "Don't do that!" is when the situations appropriate, like if the controle point is almost lost, and it would be better to regroup.

If you're doing the objective and have 12 year olds yelling at you, just carry on regardless. make them as angry as humanly possible. Thats more fun than anything else in the game. If they want to just go for achievement they should just do so with their friends or tell people whilst you are in the pre game lobby so you can leave and go play in a different server before the game begins,

once again, this is a reason I liked WAW better than MW2. played it earlier today and had fun defending and advancing on the HQ's. no one said "DONT GIT TEH HQ LOL!!!111 ******!!!111ONEONEONE". we just had fun fighting each other for a few minuets, then went on our way. from what I can tell, this mainly comes from popular games, which WAW was for about a month. but I still love you World at War, no matter your crappy campaign.

For some reason this reminds me of when I used to play C&C Renegade online.

I remember teammates cussing at me for repairing buildings. They reasoned that since the other team got points for every shot that hit a building, it was better to let the building be destroyed than to grant the other team more points by prolonging the life of said building.

Here's the problem with that:

If the barracks were destroyed, you could no longer purchase specialized infantry. If the war factory was destroyed, you could no longer purchase tanks, and if the refinery was destroyed, your whole team would lose a valuable source of income. In a sense, my teammates would rather lose the benefits of a valuable building (losing tanks, money, and infantry) than let the enemy get a few thousand points by hitting a building with a few rockets. Without being able to attack with equal force in that game, you were doomed to lose anyhow, so why sacrifice something so important and ensure a loss? It has always baffled me.

I have never experienced the stupidity described in other games, but then again, I don't play much MP anymore due to my tastes shifting from arcady FPS games to more realistic ones that have more mature communities.
This is even more ridiculous. I like the rank idea and whatnot, getting rewards and stuffs. However, it should never come before gameplay itself, if it does then you be teh n00b. But who cares if the other teams get points? Do you mean ranking points, or do these affect that game?
OP, just ignore them. Seriously. Although, if you're like me, it can be fun to bait them then laugh while they're yelling at you. But I understand if you can't bear hearing screeching noobs, I'm the same most of the time.
