People were yelling at me for protecting the Jukebox in L4D2. WTF! Of COURSE we're supposed to camp the Jukebox, it's playing music!
-"What the hell are you doing?! We need to get to the saferoom! Why are you still at the jukebox, you fuck?"
-"It's playing RE: Your Brains. I want to listen to it. I at least want to finish listening."
(My mind conversation upon reading this)

The jukebox is so awesome. Not to mention, there's always the chance it might play "Still Alive". We must take that chance!

That hasn't happened to me yet in MW2...or well maybe it has I just automatically mute everybody. Me and my friends do this offline sometimes but nope...never happened online. It sounds a bit stupid.

Luckily, since I have some natural instinct forcing me to stay the fuck away from popular games, I don't run into these problems too much. Except for snipers. Fuck them, especially in CTF. It would be one thing if they were guarding the flag from afar because that stops the flag from being captured, but they usually just sit on their asses staring at spawn poitns sniping people as soon as they respawn, which doesn't help much during CTF and it's annoying as hell and pretty much unavoidable.

See, there is a simple solution to all this shit: points only get awarded by completing the objective. That keeps the game competitive, and keeps people sounding like douchebags instead of just retards. The way things are supposed to be. IE: "WTF R U doing u noob? get itno teh cover" instead of "WTF R U doing u noob? Dont plant teh bomb, i need meh pointz"

It's a small improvement, but at least you get to play the game the way it's supposed to be played and not the way a bunch of high-voiced twats looking to boost their achievement count want.

[sup]Wow, how can I sound so bitter about this? I never even play online. Oh yeah, I just hate stupid for the sake of stupidity.[/sup]

And what is wrong with that? I find it much more satisfying when I completely dominate in an objective match. I'm not going to not score just so my teammates can pad their stats.

P.S. Love the avatar.
I agree and disagree with this statement. Yes, I'm not going to stop playing objective games if someone wants to improve their stats. Let them do it on their own merits.

No, I don't like to dominate the other team, because I've been on the dominated end of those matches. I always like the "close matches", where both teams are neck-and-neck, but our team just barely wins.

Also, ditto on the avatar.

You're talking about Modern Warfare 2. You don't get people who play for fun or for competition, you get attention whores who just want ranks and titles.
Thank god for TF2 and players who go after the objective.
This is why I so desperately want TF2.

I like it in TF2 when nobody tries to capture the flag, and 2Fort becomes a team deathmatch.

Ok, one more thing (hopefully my last post on this thread for a while), anyone have this problem?

My cousin (again), is a fuckin' surgeon with the sniper rifle. However, he is constantly rushing with it. He goes for "quick scopes", and the like. And, when he is killed, he swears at the guy who killed him.

Now, I see two problems with this. One: if you have a sniper, shouldn't you kill from afar, not up close? (Isn't that what secondary weapons are for?). Two: Despite all the kills you obtained, do you have to get THAT angry at the guy? Hell, he even makes up excuses to why he died ("Of course he used the ACR." "Fuck the FAMAS." "He took 20 SPAS shots and kills me with two UMP shots.")

I, when I snipe, try the traditional snipe. That is, I stay put in one place that views a large part of the map, kill a few people, and move somewhere else. My cousin tries the "MLG" sniping, which degenerates to rushing up to people, attempt a "quick-scope head-shot", and move on. [/semi-rant]

Seriously, does anyone else think this?

That or if you have enough players to keep them from even getting into either sides base :D.

On-topic though, I've never had someone tell me not to cap/bomb a point course that doesn't mean that my team is doing the objective. It's always awesome to have 3+ teammates camping around an hq farming kills instead of capping it just to get annihilated and watch the other team take it.

You mean the typical Halo sniper? :p

I suppose if it works, there's no reason not to no-scope someone. However, getting whiny about it doesn't make much sense, since you're deliberately putting yourself at the disadvantage (unless you have a Barrett .50 cal and a modded controller, you n00b). He's carrying a shotgun and you have the sniper out? Of course you're going to lose at close range.

It makes even less sense in MW2. I mean, hello. You can have the shotgun as your secondary. USE THAT.

I personally can't no-scope for crap, though when I manage to pull one off when I don't have time to switch weapons, I feel awesome. Otherwise, I try to play traditional sniper when I actually have one. Going back to MAG, I see a lot more actual snipers in that game than no-scopers. I think it has something to do with the bipod attachment, which pretty much requires you to stay still and prone for the sake of greatly improved accuracy.

Indeed - because it doesn't have a kill limit people just love CTF/HQ/etc for grinding ranks and achievements. If you actually go out and do the objective you're ruining thier progress.

Its wierd. Why do people think they can only have fun once they're top rank/full unlock/etc?
Because it gives them a sense of accomplishment when really it's just a badge saying,

"Hey look at me! I just ruined my life!"
I just hate it when people brag about getting a certain achievement. Like it makes them god and everyone else who doesn't have one peasants.
Well, I was gonna say 'Because they're a bunch of twatfags', but I think the original explanation makes a bit more sense.

And on the topic of ruining their lives, they ruined everyone else's by joining that game.

What pisses me off is when I'm playing CTF in Halo, and some jackass twelve-year-old in Recon armor (and he is always in Recon armor) takes the flag and does that thing where he throws it and picks it up and throws it and picks it up and throws it and picks it up and throws it-

"Flag stolen. Flag dropped. Flag stolen. Flag dropped. Flag stolen. Flag dropped. Flag stolen."

The little bastard just thinks he's such a hardcore player that he can't just carry the flag like a normal goddamn person, he has to dribble it and shave off maybe half a second from his sprint back to base.

And when I finally get fed up with the announcer metronoming in my ear and just pick up the damn thing myself, the little fucker has the gall to teamkill me so that he gets the point.

Wow, I can't believe I completely forgot about how satisfying a close match is.

It's just been so long since I had a close match where the other team wasn't cheating that I forgot how good it feels. Especially when, after the game, everyone congratulates everyone else on the good game. God damn... why are people like that so fucking rare?

I'm actually a little depressed now thinking about how long it's been since that happened to me.

Tribes is the only shooter I've played for any consistent length of time. If some moron yelled to not get the flag (non CTF is rare) it's pretty much an insta ban. only had trouble with someone once, and it was when I misunderstood the admin. It may be fucking old, but a better community I've yet to find (and the game is amazing) other than that the only multiplayer I play is Asian MMOs (cause they're free) and aside from the gold farmers never been annoyed.
You should take a look at Enemy Territory Quake wars, There is a Tribe wars mod out for it, I' am in the Beta and it is looking very good. The quake wars community is pritty small but is very nice, Quality over quantity I say. Quake wars is dirt cheap these days, I bought the collectors edition for £8 a year and a half ago rediclously cheap for such an awsome game, played it for over 800hours now. Best £8 I ever spent in gaming terms.

OT, What do you expect from people in MW2, Besides, if you want real objective based team shooter then look up the developers Splash damage, Enemy Territory and its sequel Enemey Territory Quake Wars are the best objective games around.

If you want something more recent check out Brink, Its there new game set for release later this year.

I haven't played Halo in a long time, mainly because all my friends have moved onto COD, but i do remember how epic the multiplayer for Halo could get at times.
No one in Halo would shout do not get the flag, they would say things along the lines of ''cover me im going in'' and win the game for us.
I remember on a map where the flag was in an easily camped position, i grabbed a sniper and told my team to get close to the flag then i picked off as many of them as i could, my team swept in, cleaned up and took the flag. We won thanks to teamwork.

In COD MW2 im yet to meet someone who says 'dont get the flag you fucking noobcake' but i see a lot of people just camping. It doesn't piss me off though.

I love team-based gameplay. And i have only ever really gotten that in Halo.
