Flapjack is brilliant and Chowder is... decent. Those are the only 2 shows remotely worth watching on Cartoon Network now.
You summarized my thoughts on Cartoon Network completely.

Oh, how I long for the days of:

Courage The Cowardly Dog

Dexter's Laboratory

The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy

Yes...The Powerpuff Girls, too.

Nothing on Nickelodeon is worth a damn. I can't wait to watch iCarly: Carly goes on more wacky adventures.
Watching The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy now, I realize that a) there were a lot of jokes I just straight up wouldn't have found funny as a child that I do now (I.e. the entire episode about Blacula and Grim being lost in the desert), and b) It was probably the... I can't think of the right word, but like, the 'worst' cartoon network has ever gotten. Literally, on a network where they're not allowed to mention death and dying, your main characters include: The Grim Reaper, A very disturbing, shining-esque girl, and an entire cast of hell-themed demons. They really did it right. I was officially sold on the show when I saw the character, "Puddin' " get fucking MURDERED by a demon zombie rabbit. I mean... how could I have watched that and not had nightmares as a child. It was the most disgusting... violent scene from any 'children's' show... EVER.
Invader Zim was MUCH more disgusting than Billy and Mandy. One episode revolves around Zim stealing children's organs. Can't forget the fact that everybody is absolutely nasty, cheesy, crusty and has some kind of mental issue. Although that episode in Billy and Mandy, with Puddin getting killed made me laugh so hard my ears were leaking an unknown substance. Probably my Gray matter.

Drawn Together was the best children's show (kidding). Lordy, did that show suck.
I kind of assumed that "Except Invader Zim" is always implied when we're talking about best 'kids' shows. Because Invader Zim was so disgusting, so hilarious, and so violent, the only logical solution is that the shows creators had no idea they were making a show for Nickelodeon. Like, in the episode Planet Jackers, aside from getting his ass whooped later in the episode, there's a really quick piece that most people miss where he crashes into the TV Screens surrounding the planet, and HE HITS THEM SO HARD, HIS EYE FALLS OUT. He actually has to shove his eyeball back into his head! Oh god, how I loved Invader Zim.

I barely watch TV anymore, but when I'm bored enough to occasionally sit down and watch what my sister (nearly 3 years old) is watching, I'm amazed at how that shit could be broadcast. A few years ago there were heaps of good shows around, maybe they're still there and I just haven't been paying attention but...eh.

Pheanus and ferb is awesome
I thought i was the only one who thought that!

What is it about that show that makes it so enjoyable to watch?
It could be that that show just strives to be funny through character and actual humor, and not through being overly weird or grotesque.

My housemate and I have found that Stormhawks is actually really quite engaging and fun.

Ahhh I remember watching Arthur and shows like Angry Beavers and Franklin the Turtle...
Aw yeah I remember those too... You just can't beat nostalgic cartoons of the 80's and 90's. They were top quality and I could rattle off so many of them, starting from Babar, Roger Ramjet and He-Man to Rocko's Modern Life and of course TMNT, Samurai Pizza Cats and Rugrats.

No one is going to mention Samurai Jack? come on people that was an amazing cartoon.
THANK YOU! I was going to say the exact same thing! That show was amazing. And evidently, there's going to be a movie next year.
Do you have a source for that!? I would fucking love to see a Samurai Jack flick!

Damn everyone basically said what I was going to say. Oh well

OT: Despite being based off the prequels, I think Star Wars: The Clone Wars is pretty great. It can be really mature at times like when that one jedi gets tortured to death, and that one terrorist committing suicide.

For me, I really do think most of what's on kids television is junk.

The only exception I place on this is Chowder. I haven't watched Phineas and Ferb (or however you spell it) but might have to with all these recommendations.

The shows I miss:

Samurai Jack
Megas XLR
The first few seasons of Spongebob
Toonami, in general
Ed, Edd and Eddy (seriously, I re-watched a few episodes and found it even funny than when I was younger).
Dexter's Lab
Avatar (but not really since I can watch it on the internet)

but mostly Johnny Bravo. That seriously has to have been my favorite show when I was younger.

I said it in the other thread, and I'll say it again here: The Spectacular Spider-man. Seriously, if you want an exiting, funny series with a well constructed over arching plot, check it out. Also, it has better animation and action than the 90s series, which pushes it ever closer to perfection.

<---- Invader Zim

Flapjack and Adventure Time too. They're surprisingly decent.

I've lost all hope for Spongebob after the first new episode came out. It's not funny as it is gross. Remember the new episode where he got that splinter and it grew until pus came out everywhere? ...I know Invader Zim did that too, but it actually fit within that show. Spongebob and grossness is kinda just...eh.

Phineas and Ferb, and Adventure Time are the only currently running shows that could stack up against our good old 90s/early 2ks cartoons. Chowder isn't bad, but It's not something I would want to watch.

Phineas and Ferb.

Power Rangers is surprising in its quality, too. I should know. I watched up to season 12.

A lot of the shows I'm seeing here aren't "today's" show though. While I think that there are a lot of good ones out there, there is always going to be Dora the Explorer as well.. what a killjoy.

I admit, The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack and Chowder are pretty good, but all the awesome cartoons are gone or slowly disappearing.

Megas XLR. Getting rid of it was the worse thing Cartoon Network ever did next to just getting plain boring. I still haven't forgiven them.

Courage the Cowardly Dog. Still around. I didn't like it that much when I was younger, but now that many of the amazing shows are gone I appreciate it much more now...

Ed, Ed, n' Eddy. It was, and still is amazing. They have recently stopped showing it, but I've heard rumors that there will be another season.

Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. The dark humor was a nice twist for Cartoon Network, and how the characters dealt with Billy's shenanigans was always interesting to watch. I also caught a lot of subliminal messages which was pretty cool.

Dexter's Lab. Seriously? Do I even have to say more?

Johnny Bravo. Twas Awesome. After watching it recently, It's still as funny as ever.

Powerpuff Girls. Yeah, Yeah. I know it was aimed at girls, but that show owned. 'Nuff Said.

Samurai Jack. Samurai Jack....

Nostalgia... It hurts... :(

JLA Unlimited has been cancelled indefiently, so you must of been watching reruns. DON'T, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, WATCH THE BATMAN OR BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD! The first can't decided if it wants to be campy and "goofy" or dead serius, the latter basically is a remake of the 60's show (ignoring all developements of Batman from the last 50 years) with Robin being replaced by random (and ungodly annoying) DC heros that have little relation to Batman. They have NOTHING to do with Justice Leauge, the original Batman: TAS or Batman Beyond (All which were made by the brilliant Tom Ruegger) and just are a slap to the face to any Batman, or DC animated universe fans.
