I always loved the Ocarina tunes, particularly the temple teleportaion ones. All so unique and great in their own way.
A Down Up! A Down Up!!! XD
You know you are truely a gamer when you know exactly how that sounds hahaha
Very true. I think it's more worrying, however, that immediately after posting that (and I'm not kidding here) the wind picked up and it started bucketing down with rain.
This made me smile more than anything else today. Maybe if I try right down up right down up it'll turn to night time...

getting the 100th skulltulla without the help of any guide was cool... if only i could remember where they all were, haven´t found them haha, and looking at Ganondorf trough the window in the castle´s garden was one momment that i remember being really exited, also getting the Master Sword to find out i have become adult felt great!!

and winning the "horse back target practice" was cool too (in that control, thats what i call an achievement)

The only memory i have of Ocarina of Time from my childhood is turning the game off and playing Super Mario 64 instead.

Oh, no! A storm again!!
You played the Ocarina again, didn't you!!
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!

Fighting the Dark Link fair and square, with just your Master Sword, was damn fun, if a bit frustrating. That guy was one tough nut.
And the Forest Temple. God I loved that place. So eerie and desolate. Magnificently designed level, when it comes to atmosphere.

I actually made myself sick playing that game. I spent an entire Sunday afternoon doing the whole Gerudo Fortress/Spirit Temple bit, without stopping to eat, use the bathroom, or rest my eyes. By 8PM, I was nauseous and had a bad migraine. And it was totally worth it.

Looking back it's easy to see the flaws in the game, but at the time it was one hell of a ride.

Gather 'round, kids. It's time for another installment of Mr. Fister's long-winded and boring recollections of Ocarina of Time!

[small]NOTE: These are copy-pasted from posts I made on a different forum during my 10-year anniversary playthrough.[/small]

I remember the very first time I ever laid eyes upon this game. I just walked into my dad's apartment one day, and there it was. I fell in love with it immediately. I never wanted to stop playing it, even though I had to share it with my nephew (who, sadly, isn't into gaming anymore). I remember my dad saying "shouldn't you take a break?" and I turned my head towards him, and he laughed and made a remark about me having puppy-dog eyes.

I remember me already knowing that I'd become an adult sometime in the game before it actually happened, and getting real excited about it. Once I finally did become an adult, I was like "Man, this is so awesome." That changed when I left the Temple of Time and found a very dark market infested with Redeads, who I was still scared of at the time. I was really freaked out, and immediately tried running away, only to end up at Ganon's Fortress. Once I left the Market, I saw the dark sky in Hyrule field, and immediately saved and turned the game off. I thought the rest of Hyrule was going to be like the Market, so I thought I would never get the courage to play any further. 10 years later, it doesn't frighten me anymore. That's about as scary as video games ever got for me.

With the Shadow Temple, I remember my brother's friend at the house playing through it. When he got inside the Shadow Temple, I remember being too scared to watch it, so I tried to leave the room. The problem is, every time I tried to leave the room, my older brother would grab me and pull me back inside. One time, I managed to get all the way to the other side of the house before he grabbed me and took me back kicking and screaming. To this day, I still don't know if he was trying to show me that it wasn't scary, or if he was just being mean to me. 10 years later, I'm no longer that scared, but nearly every time I enter a new room in the Shadow Temple, I whipp out the Ocarina and play the Sun's Song just to be safe.

10 years later, many things have changed. Ocarina of Time doesn't hold the same appeal it had when I first played it. The graphics and audio are really showing their age, the controls and camera are bigger issues now, and there are moments that took sheer willpower for me to play through. At the end of the day, it was still worth playing through, if only just because it's been 10 years since the game was at retailers in the U.S. Certain parts of the game, no matter how old it gets, will never lose their charm: The cutscenes that describe the creation of the world and the Triforce are still amazing; the Shadow Temple is still incredibly atmosperic and spooky in some places; and the final showdown with Ganondorf and the beast Ganon still manages to be incredibly epic and memorable. More importantly, after all these years, the gameplay still manages to be fun. Ocarina of Time has appropriately stood the test of time in the gaming world, and in my heart. Other games may come along someday and be incredibly fun, likely other Zelda games, but they will never, ever, ever fully replicate that sense of wonder and amazement I got when I first ran around Kokiri Forest, defeated Queen Gohma, discovered the vast world of Hyrule Field, got frightened nearly to death by the Redeads, and pulled the master sword out of the pedestal in the Temple of Time. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is, was, and always will be my favorite game of all time.

Almost exactly how I feel. Twilight Princess was absolutely great, but looking back, it couldn't surpass OOT.

Excuse me, I need to go play through the game again.

My most humorous (and most memorable) moment was doing a 3-hearts run on Master Quest. The Iron Knuckle in the Fire Temple caught me with it's first horizontal swing, and I rezzed with a fairy. Before I could backflip, he hit me with the second swing and I rezzed again about half a second later.

A Down Up indeed.

I believe I speak for most when I say that the most memorable thing from OoT was this. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duRO3noyAKU&feature=related]

The Forest Temple... I love that music. The Minuet of Forest is my favourite 'Rina tune too. Every single bit of that game is seared into my memory, it was fantastic. The best time I've ever had with a game. That's not just pure nostalgia talking either, I only played it for the first time a few years ago.

My most recent best memory in OoT was kicking the everloving crap out of the Shadow Temple while Still Alive from Mirror's Edge was playing. It was pure win. ^_^

When I first used the Sun Song. WOW. I wonder how many people's sleeping cycles I screwed over while playing that game. Muh haw haw. Used to love using the Sun Song to freeze the zombies and just charge up my Goron Blade attack on them. Fun times, fun time.

lol well I'm playing Master quest now and there's a part in the Spirit Temple where there were those chests that freeze you, and you reflected the light. Well this time to open the door you just had to hit the chest with your sword, my bro did this I haven't gotten there yet.

One word Two words:

Epona.
Music.

I spent hours riding Epona around Hyrule field, and the music from the game always makes me nostalgic.

Realizing that Ganon can only be killed with the master sword after I'd been fighting him for an hour, using up all four bottles of blue potion/Nayru's Love combination, trying to kill him with the Biggoron's Sword, even after picking up the Master sword again. I had one heart left when I thought to switch, and, lo and behold, there came the final cutscene.
LOL The exact same thing happened to me! Finally figuring out how to beat shadow link in the water temple is my favorite memory.

Killing Ganon is probably the best moment I have ever experienced in a game.
Defiantly, Ganon in OoT is one of the best boss fights I've ever done, sure he's easy, but the setting makes it über beyond words.

ALSO there's the 'got a heart container music' I always love hearing that little song, no matter what Zelda its on

Just to let you know if you have Nostalgia for a game, it isn't as good as you think.

And can I say something about a different Zelda game? I've never played Ocarina.
Go crazy. I suppose we could use this thread as a general "Memorable Moments In Zelda" compendium.

Also, I don't think you're right at all when it comes to nostalgia. Sure, your theory would hold true in some cases, but as for me, I enjoy the N64 Zeldas every single time I play through them. In fact, if they were re-released with modern-day graphics, I'd buy both of them for full price.
