Most of the time I keep my mic handy but not plugged in for my 360 because most people online are idiots and just like screaming N*@@#$ and generally acting like a jackass.

I love co-op games but I only play with people I know since 90% of people can't work together. First time I played Co-op in Gears my jackass partner wouldn't revive me, I got knocked down and he was literally right next to me in the back away from the enemies and he let me sit there till he killed everyone.

Because it annoys people like you so much.

You draw it on yourself, y'no. :D
Why do I even bother? Just came on here to see what people thought about using mics in co-op games and I get a bunch of crap in return.

/thread.
You came here with an aggressive rant about how people weren't playing a game how you wanted them to, and you received a suitable response. :)

Edit: But now I feel bad and would like to say that I understand your frustration but you have to understand it's just a game. =]

This is the primary reason Firefight mode has no matchmaking, if you don't all have microphones it can get quite difficult.

I suppose my original post could be interpreted as aggressive, but that wasn't my intent. Just wanted to know people's opinions on whether co-op gamers should have mic's.... whether it's a common courtesy or if I'm completely off my block. So I apologize if it seemed like I was aggressively ranting. I don't take my games THAT seriously.

I have a mic but I never use it except when gaming with family or people I know IRL.

Online gamers are mostly boring, racist, sexist, homophobic tossers (or pretending to be such so they can be tough on the internet, which is even worse). I have nothing to say to them, and I definitely don't want to hear what they have to say to me. They've got fingers, they can type if communicating with me means that much to them.
Okay, you NOT having a mic isn't going to make them not be racist or sexist haha.

Eh, a mic isn't necessary to have a good co-op match, but it helps. I don't have a mic, and co-op matches are still fun when no one has it.

it helps when playing a game like Left For Dead
Definitely. COD@ WAW Nazi Zombies is a MUST for having headsets too, as it's usually the guys without headsets that do things like get the max ammo's before you've reloaded, get the nukes when you have 1 zombie left and are trying to open a pack a punch. Run off into a zombie horde and keep dying, steal people's windows....the list goes on.....

Mic's are a definite must, otherwise, how will you know who to help?

No problem, it's easy to come across like that without realizing it. In fact, I might have been slightly aggressive too, what with calling you a douche and all... xD
Sorry. =D

I would use a mic online, but I don't have one.

I'm just such a horrible person. I should remove myself from online interactions forever.

How dare people without a mic try to enjoy a videogame! They need to meet your needs, after all.

Mic's are only needed for One game. L4D. It's impossible to work as a team without them unless you're in the same room

In smaller squad based games or the first time playing the game then yes they should. In larger groups people can get the idea by following others or if they are experienced they can lead and hope others follow, in fighters/racing/sports all it is used for is calling the other person a dick wad, and in Uno... well Uno online WAS a fucked up community but now it is a wasteland. On a side note am I the only one who misses free for all matches in shooters?

That's absolutely true, but it also means that It's more difficult to engage in conversations with them. I realise many people act racist and sexist and I can't really do a lot to change that, and that's fine, I'm not interested in changing the world, I just don't enjoy talking to people who use "fag", "******" and "*****" as punctuation while I'm trying to shoot things or whatever.

I'd agree with the topic, but you see, for some retarded reason, I can't hear incoming mics properly, I get bits and pieces and it's all pretty garbled, so there's no point in me using a mic if I don't hear a word anyone's saying back(I wish I could though). The weird part is the issue's happened across two computers with two very different soundcards, multiple ISPs, multiple wireless cards, multiple routers etc. etc. (though honestly, 'wireless' there is probably the key word...)

This never seemed to be a problem while on Halo 2 for some reason. that was always an.....interesting community. only game i can think of that still has it is L4D where its kind of a necessesity. However all the 4 year olds playing bad company that join my squad really REALLY get on my nerves. mute......
