There is not enough facepalm in the world.

While we're on the subject of overrated horror movies: I like Jaws okay, but I don't think it should be rated the #1 Scariest Movie Moment of all time. (It was on some list show I saw years ago, and it still baffles me to this day.)

And this too. And for God's sake people, just because you don't like something doesn't mean you have to be an asshole about it.
No one is being an asshole here, so stop being an asshole by calling everyone with an opinion an asshole. Also not everyone here says they don't like the film, just saying it's over-rated.

Napoleon Dynamite. All of my friends laughed their asses off when they watched it. I, on the other hand, did not. I did not like the character. He was annoying, obnoxious, and really creepy.

Agreeeeddd and thank you very much. Minus Reservoir Dogs, and perhaps Dusk till dawn. His movies are ass, and i think it's a bit self richeous that he always casts himself in some sort of role in them. Though he does get a bonus cookie for writing Natural Born Killers.

Oh and twilight...even though sheep don't have actual opinions and therefore an actual rating of somesort may not even be.....nevermind. Thats too much time talking about twilight for me.

Oh and Titanic i HATE titanic. "its okay rose you can do it rose, i believe in you rose, live your life rose" STFU. Tell that ***** to move over there's plenty of room for the both of you on that piece of wreckage. This movie also was way inflates by the tween effect. Teenage girls seeing it 7 times in the theaters with different groups of freinds every time. jolting it's status into the stratussphere. I hated this movie so much that even if any of you haven't seen it no spoiler alert for you. THE SHIP SINKS IN THE END!!! >.<

Twilight, Napoleon Dynamite, Flight Club, Avatar.

twilight is the only one of those which i dislike though, i just don't understand why the majority of the world can't see through the two dimensional characters and in my opinion poor acting but then trying to get an emotional range out of Edward and Bella might be a challenge for any actor/actress.

No matter what movie, if it has any amount of hype it will be considered "overrated" by someone out there, so I imagine any movie could be said in this thread.

If I were to pick one movie I would say Team America. I don't like Stone and Parker's humour, and whenever I say I don't like it people roar and say:
"Dude! But its soo funny! Didn't you see the scene where they sing about AIDs? Or when they have sex? Or he throws up loads?!"

Sigh.

I'm with you, I think most of his films are bullshit pop culture references. Making a reference to something else doesn't make you clever or artistic, it just means you've seen something else.

Apparently Pulp Fiction is good because of how the story was shown out of order, whatever, its basis is rubbish.
I completely agree.

The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile.

I've said it once and I'll say it again; Frank Darabont sucks.
The Green Mile was going good for me until the whole supernatural thing came in. It was a fucking stupid idea.
You guys know both of those were based on Stephen King novels, so the whole supernatural thing should be kinda expected...I enjoyed both of those movies, shawshank more than green mile though.

OT: Titanic, just a generally bad movie, and the first transformers movie was terrible just like the second one.

I have more than a few. Aliens, Avatar, Eraserhead, Pulp Fiction, The Mist, Hurt Locker, Inglorious Basterds, Goodfellas, A Clockwork Orange, The Human Centipede (more hype than anything), Salo, Gone with the Wind and there's a few more that I can't think off.

EDIT: Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz too.
Sounds more like a list to anger the people in this forum than movies you don't like.

For me its 300 its unbelievably over hyped and the dialogue was annoying after a while.

I've never quite got why the Godfather is considered the best film ever by just about everyone. I enjoyed it, but I can't say I was in any way overwhelmed. I think of the Beatles in a similar way. I acknowledge that they are very good, but I really don't get why they they are the best.

I agree with the last two entries as well.

To quote the Cinema Snob, "No, I didn't know a guy like Napoleon Dynamite in high school! If I did, I would have kicked his ass!"

Any movie people go "You never saw ____!?"
Mostly just because that is annoying. Godfather, ET and Aliens are the main ones.
We can judge movies we haven't seen simply on the fact that our friends annoy us? Sweet!

In that case I hate mystic river, citizen cane, and gangs of new york!

OT: Where the Wild Things Are was one of the worst movies I have ever seen, so boring.
