if there was some legitimate reason as to why you would need to ban homosexuality (massive Negative population growth) then i could understand it, although i still wouldn't support it, but it would at least make sense... but making a law based purely on the hatred of homosexuals?

Uganda is so stuck in its ways it often seems like they are so far back its hilarious, this bill is stupid, I feel for people living there.

I've signed it but really what good will it do? If the African government want it to go through it will. If you really want to help then get off your seat, take a flight and start a riot there because an online partition is going to do nothing.

Sorry to be a downer

Signed it. I don't think it'll work, but as a "practicing" sinner of the homosexual arts I'd be remiss to not sign it :/

It doesn't surprise me that American Evangelicals thought this was the most important thing Uganda needed to work on. Nor does it surprise me that they spread their gospel of hatred. It just surprises me that they finally found a government that was backward enough to agree with them.

I just wish I could do more ._.

This is pointless. Signing in on a petition trying to change the mind of stupid homophobic world leaders by saying "I don't like this one bit". They wont listen to us no matter what we say about this. This is a religious thing and frankly we can't stop it.
However I signed it because the 5 seconds it takes to do it, and to do this for a good cause is better than the 5 seconds I would have wasted for anything else. I don't think it will help, but apathy helps less.

Signed and reposted.

This shit is just wrong no matter what side of the fence you swing on.

So you think the UN should invade Uganda and impose our western values through violence..?

Stinking imperialist..
I'm saying stick to the mantra of "protecting the human rights" which the UN claims to do, but then only actually enforces when there are financial or political interests involved.

Either you leave everyone to their business or you DO accept an imperialist position and stand your ground for (or against) everyone. If you honestly think the existence of human rights should trump local or national laws, then that ALWAYS happens, not only when you have vested interests in the outcome. It either is or isn't.

Personally, I'm a fan of the Alexander the Great approx, but either you take one or the either, the issue is consistency.

Or just be honest about it. Issue a statement going "Armies cost money to mobilize, and we have absolutely no interest in helping these people whatsoever. We get nothing from it. Deal with it". Of course that would clash with the PR of "the good guys" everyone goes for these days...

They shouldn't have to hide it, they may not be able to afford to leave, and it leads to situations where neighbour A is pissed off by neighbour B, and so neighbour A accuses neighbour B of being gay.

Being accused of something can almost be as bad as being found guilty of it, and something tells me they don't have the world's fairest legal system anyway.

Not trying to make light of this issue, but uh couldn't you just not let people know your gay and get out of the country asap.

It's like killing someone for a political idea like communism. Can't you just hide it?

That's all good and well, but we live in the real world and Ugandans per capita GDP costs less than any of our cars.

There are bigger problems than having to keep who you bone secret. We have the privilege of caring about that in America, but in a country where people are struggling to survive. Who gives a fuck.
Right, so if they've got all that trouble why are they making it an issue? You can't say its not an issue when they're the ones making it so in the first place.

Article 3 states that everyone has the right of life, why would they take a jingoist standpoint for enforcing that?!

The UN will put political pressure on Uganda if they do go through with this. You seem to think they'll just stand by and let it happen, but that's not what political pressure is..
