It's because the nation relies on aid from the surrounding world. With global outcry comes the threat that any efforts to gather aid for the nation will be thwarted until the law in question is dissmissed or taken away. But that is a notion that religious extremists (the people pushing at the law) eighter do not consider, or does not care about.ArBeater said:I disagree, but I don't see why people who are not Ugandan have the right to judge another country's domestic policy.
I don't disagree at all, and I think the legislation needs to not happen. My point was merely that they OP has misrepresented the legislation and is focusing on the wrong part. Far, far more egregious is the life imprisonment for ANY homosexuals, and THAT is what people ought to focus their energy on.bojac6 said:Perhaps that's the letter, but how will it work in practice? Why does it sigle out homosexuals and not simply target all rapists and people who knowingly spread HIV? A double standard of punishment is immediately suspect. I would guess all homosexual activity is going to be considered "aggravated"
How does genocide imply that gay Ugandans aren't Ugandans? I said Genocide not Xenocide.Flammable said:Genocidal? So you're suggesting gay Ugandans aren't Ugandans? Homophobe.Lucifus said:Being less genocidal is still being genocidal. That is to say, they aren't killing gays, they are killing gay rapists and those with HIV, which is noticeably less genocidal.
Indeed, genocide only means that it's a selective group. Gay Ugandans are Ugandans, but they can be lumped together.LaBarnes said:How does genocide imply that gay Ugandans aren't Ugandans?
