I do it cause its comfy. I don't generally let it sag too low, but lettin it rest a bit lower meant my stomach didn't need a belt buckle jabbin into it all the time.

First of all I have to say, I am rather surprised... Reading your post was like listening to my own mind but from a female perspective!!

I too am perplexed by this fashion statement, and to be honest have never had the desire to conform to it at all... I wear jeans often in my 'out-of-work' life, but have never felt the need to wear them any lower than where they sit most comfertably... on my hips! Any lower and they become restrictive to movement, and henceforth I would wear a belt!

Also, I have never felt the need to purchase brightly coloured underwear... in fact anything designed not to be seen in that sense, it makes more sense to just have plain... they tend to be cheaper too!

Maybe that is why people do it? They purchased underwear that are colourful and fashionable, and because of that they feel the need to somehow show them...?

extreme weight loss.

In my case 7 stone and growing and over 6 inches off the waist be a lack of funds to purchase the new clothes and the fact that my belts have broken/ wearing a sash around the waist is not exactly considered acceptable where I live.

So Apologies but hell its better than the having all that weight in my case.

I was getting fatter at one point in my life so I bought larger pantaloons to compensate.

Then lo and behold! I didn't get fatter. So I had to buy a belt.

AND BY BLOODY JOVE I WILL WEAR THAT BELT. I didn't buy it to waste my money.

Besides, I wear briefs :3

I'm sure it's already been mentioned, but the whole "wearing your trousers halfway down your hips/legs" trend is actually a thing that started in prison... It's where the prison *****/s would wear their trousers like that to show to in-mates that they're willing and available.

Wish this was more common knowledge. Then we, the general public, wouldn't have to look at so many ass-cracks and horrible showings of people's underwear.

EDIT: I wear my trousers on my hips, but no lower. I wouldn't show off my ass in public, not on purpose anyway. I just don't find it comfortable having them pulled right the way up around my waistline.

Is it too late to mention that I have seen a lot of girls doing that?

It's not just males... Pretty much a good percentage of tomboy-ish girls wears female boxers and wears low hanging pants.

Theres this amazing concept of pants that fit you rather well and don't fall from your waist. I use this concept.

The people who are into this 'style' are just trying to act cool. They'll wise up when they get older.

The worst is when they wear skinny jeans and baggy jeans. I don't mean inconsistently, like, one day saggy the other day tight, I mean they wear jeans two sizes two small and then pull them up to their knees, leaving their boxers compleyely exposed. God fucking damn does that piss me off. It looks like they tried pulling on their pants, found out they were too small halfway through, and said, "Fuck it."
I can't even fathom it. It makes their bodies look disproportionate, like they have tiny child-legs and an overly long torso.

The brim of my pantaloons are worn naturally at my hip, which may be considered too low.

But it's seriously just the way they fall. I'm not trying to be cool, I literally can't get them up any higher without looking like I just got out of church, and on my way to chess club.

But yeah, low pants was a symbol among black communities in American prisons. It symbolized subtly that they wanted anal sex. However, this was found out, and the low pants was replaced by a yellow hankie in the left pocket, and etc etc. It evolved into various signs...

The low pants were popularized by 'cool' prison goers getting out, and keeping the look around were they lived in cities. The homies around them would think it was cool, and thus imitate it. It get's more widespread, rappers start doing it, casual singers start doing it, whole world starts doing it. And then last but not least, white teenage stoners start doing it.

It's just a stupid fad. If it was "fashionable" for women to do this, they'd do it too. It has nothing to do with the way men think. I certainly would never do this, myself.

I always hated that too[sub](For the love of God you have a belt, USE IT!)[/sub] but to be fair, there is a female equivalent. I've seen many a g-string rise up above the belt line and no, publicly visible butt-floss is not attractive.

I lack understanding of either fashion.

hip hop culture influenced it, which was influenced by US prison culture.

Btw I don't think guys would complain if women started wearing their jeans in a way that showed their panties XD
Like bacon flavoured toothpaste, it's not as good as it sounds.

DANG NABBIT KIDS WITH THEIR HIPPING AND HOPPING, ALWAYS ON MY LAWN WITH THEIR LOUD IPOPS AND MYTUBES. BLEEPING AND BOOPING ON THEIR INTERPHONES; IT WASNT LIKE THIS IN MY DAY.

NOBODY WOULD WEAR THEIR TROUSERS LOWER THAN IS NECESSARY, A MAN WOULD GET BEATEN BLACK AND BLUE IF HE DID. BUY A BELT. A PLAIN ONE. USE IT ONLY FOR ITS FUNCTIONALITY. WHILE YOU'RE AT IT BUY A SHIRT AND TIE TOO. COLOUR IS FOR QUEERS AND COMMUNISTS. A GOOD LONG SPELL IN TH'ARMY WILL SET THEM STRAIGHT.

Seriously though, nearly everyone in this thread is full of shit. Their trousers are lower than your exacting standards dictate, crime of the fucking century, Is your life so pathetically empty that THIS is something that you've come online to complain about? Is that your life?

"What did you do today Sweetie?"
"Well I went on a gaming website and harshly judged a small subset of society whose pants-height does not fit in with what my personal fashion taste dictates should be the standard. Important stuff. People need to know what the acceptable altitude of trousers is!"

Colour me unfucking surprised that the Intelligentsia in this thread are the kind of geniuses that believe it is prison code for "I'm up for buttfucking". Jesus Christ, Does google not exist in Stupid-land? How about Snopes?
