The girl had a reason for being a little shit, she knew her mother wasn't allowed to do anything to stop her.

The problem isn't here, it's with laws that don't allow you to backhand a child when it's being a little shit.

It's either this, mace or shooting the kid, because cops can't hit kids either.

The blame for this lies ENTIRELY with the state government and it's slavishly spending the last 15 years following the "no hitting" parenting guidelines when making child welfare laws. It's gotten so bad in the US that you do so much as raise your voice to a child and someone will call it in as abuse and the state will agree completely, take the kids and toss them in a foster home where they can be molested, abused or neglected by someone that they won't take the kids from.

Its a 10 year old. What kind of damage can she possibly do to a fully trained cop?
Sterilization apparently.
the problem isn't "what can a child do to a cop?" it's "why would a child even consider it?" a quick show of force and I bet that little ***** will think twice before disrespecting authoritah

I highly doubt a 10-year old girl would know what testicles were beyond a man's "Sensitive Area".

the cop was pissed he got his nads kicked. It's understandable, I'd be upset too if I got my balls kicked. I think this situation is being looked at incorrectly (what else is new?) What we should be focusing on is why the police were called in the first place. There are certain underlying problems here that need to be addressed, I would think that family theropy for the lot of them would be hugely benificial. Personally I think you just let the kid ***** and moan until she tires herself out then wack her one across the butt, and then punish her (like no TV, can't go outside, etc.) Still sounds like the child is displaying signs of some sort of emotional trouble, probobly upset over the divorce... My two cents, im sure others have already said the same thing.

Wow, were you a jock in school? Seriosuly, we like our BALLS!
I know you're just playing around, but I'm not playing around, sorry. This isn't a grown woman on drugs refusing to comply with a law enforcement officer (law enforcement, key term here folks). It was a 10 year old little girl. It's not funny, at all. I know you all think, "Well shit, I know it's bad, and a lot of cops are out of control, but I can't do anything about, so whatever." You can think that, fine, but you don't have to crack jokes at this crap. It's just evil Have none of you ever watched a Disney movie? You should know these things by now.

And no I wasn't a jock.
Yes, Disney movies ARE evil. And many of them have balls (Priest in Little Mermaid, anyone?)

There are laws against me disciplining my children? You'd better ship me overseas before I have kids, then, because they'll know what a cartiledge piercing feels like before they're 3. A nice flick to the ear, especially when it's cold, is great punishment. But, all-in-all, it's the mother's fault. If your child acts up, you'd better slappahoe before they start making a bigger ruckus than ever necessary.

See, I don't get why you think it's bad to hit a kid. If they act up, what are you supposed to do, make them sit on the step, which they can easily leave if they want to?
If you want them to grow up to solve problems with violence, by all means, hit them. If you suspend their privileges without caving, and show them both the (preverbial) carrot and the stick, they may just grow up to be well adjusted adults.

still besides the point. I was raised knowing parents are above me and police above them. If I dissobeyed my parents, I was swiftly punished and reminded of my place. I never dreamed of going against the police because I knew that they would make my parents look like softies by comparison. For a child to disrespect so much authoritah is baffling enough to me, but to go as far as striking one?! in the balls of all places?! if I were that child my dad would have beaten me into a coma

Assaulting a police officer warrants a tasing.
As long as you are over 7 and under 80, I see no reason that should have exception.

What's the problem?
The problem is her dad didn't get custody and wants to use this as leverage to get it, and any lawyer with a shitty degree could put a pretty gnarly spin on this story to do this.
why is that a problem? It seems to me that the mother is a poor parent and perhaps the father may do better.

Sure it was a little too much but i don't think it was totally unnecessary. The thing that annoys me is the fact the mom didn't do crap this is where beating your child is fine jeez

Puppet Master, why are cops "above" anybody? Their occupation is Public Servant, and their ethos is Serve and Protect.

All of you who think that sparing the rod is spoiling the child seem to be not applying any logic at all to this simple fact: if indeed the laws return to the 50's, pre-child's bill of rights, and a good ol' fashioned parent can once more smacketh the crap out of their unruly little urchin (which will never ever happen in a developed country), what's to stop all the mommies and daddies who break bones?

Violence is for the weak of mind. You train your children to be weak of mind when you train them by keeping them in line with any violence. Besides, there are much more effective means of punishment.

I blame the mother. It's obvious that there's something seriously wrong with her parenting if 1) she trained her child that amazingly badly, and 2) she had to resort to calling the police. The policemen were in a tough position: I don't really blame them.

Sometimes they need a little tasering to get in line... I totally be on girls side if she didn't try kicking police man in balls. Anyways lesson learned, she probably wont do it again and it be good from now on... Hopefully violence wont be necessary anymore on her, hope parents will realize that to.

don't get me wrong, police are human like the rest of us, even though I gre up listening to N.W.A. and Body Count, I never aspired to "fuck the police" or go "cop killah" they are an authoritah figure out to protect society, and the easiest way to control a 4 ton elephant is to start when it's a baby.
I'm not suggesting all children should be subjected to "baby P" treatment, but unruly urchins should know as early as possible that:
they WILL obey commands of those who protect you
they WILL respect the laws of their family
and they WILL obey the laws of society, or they WILL be brought down and put back into place
