I couldn't get into it mainly because I couldn't figure out how to change weapons or what the hell I was supposed to do for 6 hours.

I have never played, so I really have no right voting in this poll... but I did anyway. What's a Mass Effect?

Actually i haven't played it, but I will not attempt to.
Let me explain before cutting my head off...
I played both KotOR games and found them pretty entertaining BUT in second one I was skipping quests or forcing through them by killing NPC - becouse I was sick of dialogs, TOO MUCH FU***ING DIALOGS!!! gaming is no longer based on text boxes, but BioWare seems to be unconcious of that. Yahtzee said (as well as my friend who also played the game) that there is too much talking, more in both KotOR games? if so, I will not even borrow it just to check it.
I find it ironic that you think an RPG has too much dialogue. I suppose you would play an RTS and complain about all the strategy? Or an FPS and complain about all the shooting?

I'm sorry, m'lord, that we all can't have the character interaction of an FPS. If you'd have paid attention to anything about the game before it came out, you might've realized that character interaction was kind of a big deal. It's an RPG, not Halo.

No. People share opinions. Deal with it. Making a thread complaining about a game, and filled with biased poll options at that, well, is just plain stupid. Hating a popular thing does not make you cool. And it is obvious that you are trying to do that.

I'm still looking... I'm glad there are others out there!

As for Mass Effect, I thought it was something of an 'RPG-lite'. I'd take Baldur's Gate above it anyday.. cliched though that may be. People who complain about Mass Effect having too much dialogue and not enough killing are missing the plot by a mile, in my most humble of opinions. It's a very high-quality and notably a very streamlined RPG, but it loses a lot of the depth.

I hated Mass Effect after about 2 hours. The controls were horrible and it was so dialog heavy at times I forgot it was a game and thought I was watching a movie. When you controller goes into sleep mode during a shooter, you know they did something wrong. It didn't even feel like a shooter. The controls and cover action was horrible and the weapon mods were too complex to figure out. And like Deadrising, I can't believe there making a sequel to this bullshit.

It's not that hard to find people who hate certain things. You hate Mass Effect, no? Well I hate WOW. Someone else on this forum thread probably hates Final Fantasy.

See? We all hate something. And chances are someone else in the world hates what you hate.

On Mass Effect, it was okay, but then again I didn't get to play too much of it.

The writing is good.
The weapons are boring and generic.
The RPG elements were shallow.
The writing was really goddamn good.
It was really long so if you did like it then there was a lot of it for you.

Mass Effect has a lot of dialogue, sure. But that is neither a good thing nor a bad thing, and only depends on how it is handled.

I found that the extensive amount of dialogue in Mass Effect offered plenty of depth to a nicely crafted world, but there was little character to it. It felt more like reading an encyclopedia, with lots of information, but all of it presented in a rather bland manner. Consequentially, this extensive amount of dialogue wore me out. I have nothing against dialogue in games, even when there is a lot of it (which is to be expected in an RPG), but what matters is not always the content you present, but how you present it.

I think I'm the fourth one on this thread who agrees with you on Fallout 3.

OT: Saying you're the only one is a good way to get people to ask you how your colon tastes.
Of course you're not the only one.

Orannis angry! Orannis smash!

Just kidding. Even though I am the duly appointed Escapist Mass Effect fanboy, I can understand if it isn't for you.

You see, you're judging it by the standards of a Shooter. Thing is, it isn't a shooter. It's an RPG. Demanding that an RPG have less dialog is like going to a restaurant and sending back a bowl of spaghetti and demanding it be made less Italian.

Meh, to each his own. It's my favorite game ever, but I can understand if RPGs aren't your thing.

And if you think the first part in the Citadel is boring, that is objectively true, though there a number of interesting side-quests to do. But they mostly involve lots of conversing, which may not be to your tastes. Too bad, though, seeing as how it's awesome, in my opinion.

You can allow her to die, actually.
Yes, I know that you get to choose between her and... Who is that guy again?

I wanted to torture her to death, not leave her behind to die from an explosion...
