For some reason everyone seems to think Mass Effect is fantastic.
I on the other hand find it too repetitive and lacking any sort of actual action.
At the moment i am lost in C-Sec trying to find some guy, however the game gives no hint as how to find said guy and after about two days of searching i grew bored and sold the game.
So i ask you, what do you see in this game and is there anyone out there that agrees with me?

Edit: Why are people getting so defensive and angry? It's an oppinion, get used to it! Me disliking this game is my oppinion so just accept it!

I thoroughly enjoyed Mass Effect and think it's clearly one of the BEST games on the next gen platform, alongside Fallout 3 and Bioshock.

I'm saddened you didn't enjoy it, but then not every game is tailor made to suit everyone.
Thank you for putting across your opinion and not getting angry.
The world needs more good people like you! :)

Did it occur to you to maybe, you know, check the map? Because....objectives are are marked as exclamation points......kinda hard to miss.

I hated Mass Effect after about 2 hours. The controls were horrible and it was so dialog heavy at times I forgot it was a game and thought I was watching a movie. When you controller goes into sleep mode during a shooter, you know they did something wrong. It didn't even feel like a shooter. The controls and cover action was horrible and the weapon mods were too complex to figure out. And like Deadrising, I can't believe there making a sequel to this bullshit.
I personally thought Mass Effect was alright, not the best game I've played but still pretty good anyway.

Even when I sat through the heavy dialogue segments paying all due attention to every word I never had my controller fall asleep on me so either you forgot that you have to choose your dialogue (and that dialogue can often be skipped) or you're just bone idle enough to have been sitting there doing nothing for at least 20 minutes after the cut scene has in fact finished.

I personally never had any issues with the ground controls although I will admit the Mako was a pain in the arse to use most of the time.

Cover action was fairly limited although I personally never found myself actually needing it (even on the higher difficulty settings), your body armour and shields are often more than sufficient to keep you alive in a fight (depending on your accuracy and weapon choice as well).

I think you went in expecting a fast paced action shooter like Gears of War (it's more of an RPG with action elements), it just isn't that kind of game (and it's seems it's also not your kind of game either, which is fair enough).

Mods were a bit difficult at first but I got the hang of them after about 15 minutes and they seem really simple to me now (that's how a lot of features in many games work though).

I can understand that not everyone will like a given game but that doesn't mean that said game is bad, I don't really like Half Life but I will admit that it is a solid shooter with a couple of good ideas.

I liked it a lot. One of the best RPGs I've ever played. I even liked the combat, but I seem to be in a minority there.

I will say that if you went into it expecting a shooter then I'm not surprised you where disappointed. Mass Effect seems to following a trend of tradition RPG pretending to shooters or fast paced action games (see Fallout 3). Mass Effect doesn't play like that. If you try to use your guns constantly then your going to hit a brick wall and will be unable to continue. Think of it as turn based combat holding a sign saying "I'm a shooter". It can say it all it wants, hell it can even dress up like a shooter, but it's anything but.

I just finished replaying through Mass Effect yesterday, decided it needed to be done before Arkham Asylum on friday, and enjoyed every second of it.

The problem is you didnt play it long enough. the beginniing sucks, but after you become a spectre you can do whatever you want because then you get a ship.

Wow, if you couldn't even get off of the fucking Citadel for the first time than... wow...

I've said it before, and I'm going to say it again... If video games have taught you anything it's persistence... Since that doesn't fit in this situation I'm going to say - be patient... But who am I to tell you anything... watch everyone else have fun. I don't give a shit...
Fine! I will, but it doesn't change my oppinion. People getting angry for me not liking the game is stupid! Why am I not allowed to dislike it? Will the Mass Effect monster come and eat you in your sleep if you say one thing bad about it?
Please just stop bieng an idiot and get a life!
I'm not angry... or wasn't angry. It's hard to convey emotion through a computer. But you already knew that, didn't you?

You are definitely not the only one. I try to buy most of my games a few months after they've been out so that I can either get a used copy or an original at a discounted price. Everybody I knew kept telling me how much I would love Mass effect so I made the mistake of listening. I pretty much hated it from the get go but I still put time into it. After getting pretty darn far and still hating it, I figured that I made the wrong class of character. So I started all over again as one of the guys with mental powers and hated the game even more. Mass effect was really bad, the voice acting sucked, the controls sucked, the combat sucked and it took forever to get anywhere. I would literally prefer to go back to playing Zork on my old IBM PC than to spend one more minute with Crap Effect.

Just kidding. Even though I am the duly appointed Escapist Mass Effect fanboy, I can understand if it isn't for you.
...I'll have to eventually challenge you in a no-holds-barred duel to the death to claim your title, won't I? :p
Ohhhh...is there gonna be a cage match? Cuz I'm totally in if there's a cage match.
Loved ME through all 6 playthroughs....

The game is quite fun with the choices in dialogue and the action is nice too. When you first visit the Citadel it is rather boring, but later on it gets better. The game usually gives hints in that journal thingy and on the map as well. I don't see why you couldn't find the guy you were looking for.

It's not a shooter... it's an RPG...yeah XD
When they make a RPG a lot of people can mistake for a shooter, you know they've done a bad job.
So adding an original combat system to an RPG is a bad thing? Ok then, bring on the Final Fantasy I style combat system?

No, your certainly not. What did you expect me to say? There are thousands of people who played it and liked it, there are also many who played it and didn't like it. That's how things work.

Well, it would be nice if you could go into specifics about what you didn't like about it. And the Citadel isn't exactly a big place. If you're having trouble finding out where to go, how do you enjoy GTA games?

Oh sorry, just so many people getting agressive with me over my opinion that you can't blame me for bieng a bit defensive.
I apologise!

I love it personally, but everybody is entitled to their opinion. It does have its flaws though, hopefully they work those out in ME 2.

I liked...but...It did get boring in some parts and some of the dialog could have been edited.
Theres alot of room to enhance the game, like the combat, those silly lifts and other stuff. Maybe the sequel will polish those parts.

Yes you are, you are the ONLY person to not like this one specific product. How does it feel?
I cry a little some nights. When I think nobody is looking. It just feels so bad, so horribly, horribly bad.

Wait, Mass Effect oh different story, that game is alright.

It's not that I don't like it. It just dosen't interest me whatsoever. We have all experienced the rpg-elements in it at the battle- and driving-gameplay isn't what I would call the best. It's not bad just overrated.
