Me? I've played an elf here and there in various games. I usually prefer the 'savage' race in any given game. Like orcs. So you know where my vote went.

The best Elves were in the Lord of the Rings, everything since then has been a cheap imitation. Especially the ones in Dungeons and Dragons. They're like a disgusting cross between Tolkien's Elves and the ones from old folk tales, pixies and fairies and such.

Elves don't really bother me, usually I don't really like them either.

That might be because I just don't play so many RPGs with elves that their presence
starts to become grating.

Like Cajt, I also prefer more unusual races.

More important factors are originality, better storytelling and character development;
this leads to more enjoyable games.

I think my opinion should be partly obvious. Maybe I just haven't haven't seen enough elven varieties. I don't have any objections to the D&D varieties (especially 4th edition, when there's only three types), LotR (and BotR), Changeling: The Dreaming (the Sidhe), World of Warcraft, Age of Wonders, and Gauntlet types.

I think the only ones I have any problems with are Dragonlance and Inheritance Trilogy elves.

Yeah, I was referring to the standard ones, they annoy the crap out of me. The Drow are alright I suppose - or rather, one of them is.

Speaking strictly on the Elder Scrolls games... I'm not a fan of elves because they're not really aimed at my style of play. I usually play as the sort of tank character that piles in and kills everything while soaking up a ton of damage, which generally means Redguard or Orc. Even when I started playing through as a mage, I went for Breton over the various elf races.

I just put in my copy of the game Oblvion wich i made so many characters and had so much fun with but i just noticed i hate elves! I just never play as them they seem so boring not just in Elder Scrolls game but an evrey fantasy game i ever played! Am i the only one?

Under normal circumstances I'm not a big fan of elves, but my Bosmer in Oblivion kicks more ass than is healthy under standard operational conditions.

As an aside I think someone needs to make a fantasy game on The Sims' basic concept. Humans, elves, dwarves, and whatnot, just instead of a neighborhood in suburbia, it's a pseudo-medieval landscape a la Oblivion.
