Honestly I wish I could meet a girl gamer, haven't met one in real life in years. Not a 'core' gamer, at least. Used to see them a lot at LAN parties, out classing me with their Starcraft skills and turning me on with their knowledge of TCP/IP configuration. I was much younger then... The last time I talked to a girl who liked playing games as much as I do she was the admin of the TF2 server I frequented. I made a point of not flirting with her because every newcomer, every single one, would remark on how 'hawt' she sounded on the mic. It was true, but not the kind of impression I wanted to make on the community.
My social desires aside, I think the much bigger problem is girls who don't like gaming because they perceive it as violent. I tried to show TF2 to my last girlfriend and she kept asking "why?" "Why does blue team have to kill the red team?" Well, honey, you like watching the Crew play soccer, do you ever wonder why they have to kick the ball in the goal or why they have to beat the other team? "No but they aren't blowing each other up. Why do you have to blow people up?" We aren't, it's just a picture on a screen. When I'm playing I'm always conscious of the fact that it's textured models juxtaposed against a geometrically rendered landscape. "Why are you such a nerd?" Then I turned it off and I showed her Peggle, then she started claiming she was a gamer. It was actually kinda cute.
