ITT: tons and tons of trolling.

on topic: you disgust me, but not in the "Oh grown men swooning over a cartoon for little girls" way, but rather in the "when are these trolls going to move along to their next shtick" way.

Heck yes. The show is awesome in many ways. Not only is it funny, but it's impressive how deep the characters really are. Most kids shows, when they focus on a character, would just go, "Look at Rarity, she's being prissy and elitist as always... silly Rarity" and somehow use her character to bring the simple story to a very forced moral. Friendship is Magic actually expands on the characters with each episode by making the protagonist(s) of a given episode do something (be it the inciting mistake or the episode's climax) that isn't necessarily inherent in their character, and indeed sometimes goes against it in ways that actually make sense in the situation. It's just a really well-written show, entertaining and awesome.

My only real complaint about the Brony community is how quick so many of them seem to be to apply sexual or overly-violent themes to the show. Part of what makes the show so great is its innocence, and the clarity with which is presents its morals. Clopfiction about lesbian ponies and jokes taking dialogue out of context simply don't fit with that, and are more obscene than anything else.

There is one thing stopping me from choosing "yes". What does being a Brony mean?
It means that you are a fan of MLP:FiM. Nothing more, nothing less.

Also, just ignore Radeonx. It's not worth it, trust me.

This is the internet, you know. Rule 34 exists for a reason. Most fansites police their content pretty strictly, so I don't think it's too hard to ignore the more...explicit...aspects of the fandom.

By the way Aidinthel, I only started watching the show for two reasons, one being greater than the other.
1.) My Sister and her friend (16yrs, Older) enjoyed it.
2.) 1/6 of the people on the escapist forums apperently had pony avatars.
So, i watched the first 2 episodes. Then I correctly predicted what would happen in the third, and i was hooked.
So HA! Your movie is inaccurate! Lol.
(btw I'm not trying to insult you or prove my betterness)

Yup, ignore me for not liking something popular. Sorry for disagreeing with you, because clearly I'm 100% wrong and the show is one of the single most glorious things ever to grace the presence of television.

With that sarcastic response out of the way, I'd also like to point out that I'd try the show to see if you like it. It wasn't my cup of tea, so I don't like it, and I'll say it. Doesn't mean anyone shouldn't enjoy something just because they take 1 faceless person's opinion as pure fact.

And yet you still have a pony badge? So that means that you either like the old serieses better, or you are trying to make an ironic statement. For or against.
The pony badge was from 2 Christmas's or so ago, and it has nothing to do with the current MLP series. I'm just too lazy to pic it over something else.

If you want to be sure of getting someone's attention use the quote button. Replacing the text with *snip* to save space is common, especially if the post you're replying to is recent enough that no one needs a reminder.

I also started watching because of the Escapist. (Well, that and the parody trailers.) I figured that if so many people who shared my interests in games liked the show then I probably would as well. So the video doesn't really apply to me either. (And just so we're clear, it's not mine.)

And now for something (almost) completely different:

Audio is from an excellent Discovery Channel commercial.

This may also interest you:

I currently have it playing on loop via Infinite Looper.

Well, I finally broke down and watched the first 2 episodes, and I have determined 3 things.

1- It does have a certain mesmerizing effect.

2- Pinky Pie is mentally damaged.

3- The lesbian pony got the most laughs out of me.
I actually find it rather amusing how everyone assumes she's gay.

But anyway...

I like the show, and I like the images and fan-art it spawns. That said, I've always been quite hesitant to label myself a "brony." It just seems inherently weird and cult-like.

Holy Crap, I thought this thread was dead! Unless...

Grab your shotguns, it's a ZOMBIE THREAD!!!
so, people compain to use the search bar when they post a thread about something that's allready been discussed....

then people complain about necroing threads when people use the search bar?

so in order to avoid necroing threads, they'd have to post a new thread on a subject that's allready been discussed then.... *head explodes*
Good point, I'm not really upset, I'm just surprised. I've never had a thread come back after I made it months ago.

I'm perfectly fine with people not liking the show, what I can't stand is people accusing us of being part of some elaborate trolling scheme. It's not even plausible for such a thing to be organized among thousands of people on the internet.

We like the show. We don't care if you don't. Don't try to make us out to be something we're not.

OP: Obviously I am a Brony. If you told me a year, hell, even a few months ago that I'd be watching and loving cartoon ponies I'd have called you insane.

I know what you mean; I never use the word in real life if I can help it. But this is the internet, and it's just a silly word for FiM fans. We're all (well, mostly) friends here.

Also, that .gif really shouldn't be as funny as it is.

I mainly find it funny that they're so cynical that vast pointless internet conspiracies seem more likely than grown men enjoying a cartoon.

I'd certainly have been skeptical if anyone had told me this would happen, but I think I know myself well enough that it wouldn't have taken much explaining.

Straw man argument is made of straw. you are 1. a troll, or 2. one of the poor saps who have been suckered into this, and do not realize the whole point of the bronie movement was a subtle form of trolling.

Can you highlight how this is a straw man argument? Preferably in standard form.

see my above post. and If you do not believe that certain groups of people cannot organize something like this and then just let people like you run with it, you are number 2.

Diverting the issue. That is the main form of any straw man argument. also, by standard form, I assume whatever standard you and a few people you know have agreed upon, and in that case, No.

So because MONTHS ago people started spamming reaction images on /b/ because of how incredibly annoyed by the show they were the "bronie movement", as you call it, is still an ironic fad based on trolling?

Not sure if serious. Why is it so hard to understand that people legitimately enjoy the show and the fandom that has sprung up around it?

No. But I would just like to point out that there are more Bronies than there are Lady Bronies.

And I would also like to point out I laughed very hard spelling that because it sounds like you're saying "Brownies" with an accent.
