No, I think it will be good for piracy, but then it's a thing called Copyright and Trademark and stuff like that and I don't think those things are bad, because at the end of the day everything it's business and you have to protect your content, there is a lot of people working on great games and I think this "new console" will be more of a problem for big games and indie games.

While I like the idea of someone new entering the console market, but I'm not convinced the Ouya is the way to go about it.

Mostly because it the Ouya doesn't bring anything new to the table, despite its developers claiming otherwise. It's a mishmash of already existing ideas, but doesn't really seem to excel at any of them. Its games won't be up to the standards console/pc gamers are used to. It can probably do most of the things a smartphone/tablet can, including games, but without the mobility. It promises OnLive, but a modest modern pc can do that too and much more, while being only marginally harder to hook up to a tv.

It could use a gimmick to draw in people. Like I said, I like the idea, but I'm not sure it has what it takes. And I'm not forgetting its developers have yet to show anything substantial. Only promises.

I do want it to succeed, if only because its success may lead to Android gaming stepping up its game.

So ya Vevo is coming to Ouya. I know its not that big of a deal, but i think its pretty neat. Also the buttons on the controller now spell OUYA. xD

they also set a launch date, March 2013. So its less then a year away.

Which is awesome, but Final Fantasy III actually /is/ an Android game. One of, if not the most expensive one on the Google Play store, too, at $15.99.

I'm still interested in the console, but I'm also still primarily interested in it for the homebrew aspect. Homebrewers make cool stuff.

You guys do realize its android's engine right? 100 dollar console with the specs of a phone.

Now, I'm not saying phone games are bad.......im just saying that everything else it better.

Also, why are we so eager to break away from this "regime" of triple A studios? In the past few years we've had more indie games than conceivably possible, its not like their hidden gems at this point. Triple A games are the minority these days. I dunno, just not seeing the point of the demand when we already have the supply en masse. Everything this thing can do people have been doing on the PC already.

Also....there isnt even a working prototype or anything. Its kind of bizzare that people would fund it just on word of promise. I can see this failing as easily as it could succeed.

I hope thats not all (although Im happy to see Xenonauts on that list). I think what they should do is start to establish some franchises like Nintendo did back in the 80s. A few strong ones will really give a personality to the Ouya.

However Im still confused about 1 other thing. Who is this thing for? I support the idea of more competition in the market so on those grounds alone I want it to succeed but I just cant figure out who this console is for...

I'll be using my OUYA primarily for XBMC. I need to switch my current 4-year old HTPC anyway. The OUYA will be perfect for that with native support for XBMC.

Not too thrilled with the launch line-up, but then... it's a launch line-up. When is it not disappointing?
