I have a PS3 and an Xbox 360. I had the 360 give me the RROD (but it was my fault; I left it on for three days straight), and I had to get the CD/DVD drive replaced, but since then it has been fine. The PS3 has been excellent, and I have not had any troubles with it so far.

Meh. I'm mostly a PC gamer- I can't get a fast, reliable internet connection where I live. Its also impractical to use cables to hook up a console to the wall.

I have no interest in the current generation of consoles: From what I see and hear, they are expensive, unreliable, and generally an excuse for a massive dick move in which you have to fork out more and get less -E.g RROD/yellow light, backwards compatibility... No, I'll stick with my PC, I need it for my work anyway.

Wii- Wasn't happy with it I first bought it, had it for around a year and traded it in. Can see why people like it, but not for me. I guess it's just the idea behind it and the fact that I got tired of Mario so quickly that killed it for me.

PS3- Didn't buy until semi-recently, hasn't been played too much except for the occasional Uncharted 2 or MGS4, but I'm happy with it if only for the blu-ray player.

360- Probably my favorite console of this gen. Has the most exclusives that I like (CONSOLE exclusives, mind you, not gonna upgrade my PC every time a new highly polished game comes out) have never had any technical problems with it, though I bought it in 2008, and from what I hear the ones they made from then on have very low failure rates. Is a bit loud, but I still love it.

PSP- While it's the second console I ever traded back in, I regret buying this more than the Wii. The games itself are downright "meh" with very few exceptions. Only bought it because all my friends just loved Monster Hunter, but when I played it that game was just horrible. As for the features, everything it does, an iPod will do better. It's games library is just flooded with remakes, watered down ports, and games that just shouldn't exist. Only console this gen that I say shouldn't have existed.

Never played the DS. Don't really plan on it.

So yea, with the exception of the PSP, I think this is probably the best gen of consoles yet. By far, to be honest. There really is something for everyone. My personal tastes aside, I can still easily see the appeal of the wii. Hell, I play it with my friend at his house and have a fun enough time.

I have to completely disagree with you here. There is plenty this generation that people have wanted for generations. Finally online gaming on consoles is not only a reality, but a standard, and the service is damn near perfect. I know online gaming has been around on PCs for a long time, but nowhere near the simplicity and functionality of the likes of XBL, where all your friends across all games are consolidated into one list, and you can communicate with them freely all the time.

i agree with the XBL statement, it is very well made, however im on my 3rd xbox due to poor hardware so in that respect, if your going to charge £200 per console at least put them together properly with good quality materials

My dad bought a PS3 as a blu-ray player so I play around on it. It ain't mine but it's pretty fun. I'm going to wait until the next gen before I roll out MY well earned cash on one. I'm leaning towards the PC more and more but the Playstation series has always been of high quality. I will probably buy the next Nintendo console but only if they go back to using real controllers.

Without naming any names, we've got an overpriced children's toy, an overpriced console that is pretty well built but receives horrible support (oftentimes taking away features rather than adding them), and another overpriced console that gets good support but has notoriously bad hardware problems. The latter two's problems are so bad that they've had a couple of (class action) lawsuits leveled at them.
Actually the first one has a class action law suit claiming ALL, yes, ALL of it's special control gizmos were stolen intellectual property. Ninten...I mean, whatever company makes this are totally screwed if that's true.

I bought my ps3 in 2007 and I haven't been dissapointed sony have delivered exactly what I wanted my ps3 for including the added surprise of cod 4 multiplayer (didn't like cod 3). My pc is secondary for mmo's, mods, "xbox exclusives" and flash games.

I picked up an Xbox solely to play Halo and Deadrising. Deadrising has yet to disappoint me, ever.

I play my 360 elite, PS3 and Wii quite evenly. The Wii had been gathering dust for a while but I picked up Red Steel 2 the other day so have been playing that, the last game I played on the PS3 was BlazBlue and the last game I played on the 360 was Left 4 Dead 2.

This laptop I'm using technically can play games, but often crashes. The game that runs smoothest on this laptop is Crayon Physics Deluxe.

Well I've owned all 3 at some point:
Hated Wii, so sold it to get 360, heard about PS3 exclusives and free online so sold 360 to get PS3 (so far Im happy with it, but I wish multiplatform releases get better support)

I want a PC but I don't have the money...nor a credit card to use steam.

I've picked up a PS3, and with a remote and an upgraded hard drive it makes for an excellent media center to store all my music and video files, and it upscales DVD's nicely (and has Blu-ray if I get a larger screen where there's a noticable difference in quality). There are some awesome games for it too, both cross-platform (which handles better on the Xbox 360 whenever they differ in quality between platforms though) and I love a few of the exclusive series (God of War, Uncharted).

Overall, I'm quite content with my PS3, as it suits my purposes well. I can see why the Wii would appeal to a lot of people, but it doesn't strike my fancy. The Xbox 360 offers pretty much the same thing as the PS3, with a different controller layout, better crossplatform handling on some titles, different exclusives, a noisier DVD-drive (at least the model I had), and costly but quite superior online features. It wasn't my cup of tea in the end, but it's not inferior to the PS3, just different.

Overall, I think the consoles of this generation are pretty sweet. They're more focused on a particular demographic/user group, but there's still something for most people to like. And there's finally a decent range of excellent titles out for all of them, even the Wii seemingly. They're all still crap in RTS's however, and modding is but a distant dream (except in UT3 for the PS3, which nobody (including me) bought), so keep a decent PC ready for those goodies.

I have a 360 and got a decent PC. I haven't played any games on my PC for about... a week, and even then it's usually Hitman Blood Money, since I can't stand the PC gaming community. I play my 360 nearly every day.

I'm going to say it: Live has a better community than Steam. Yes, I said the unthinkable. But all I ever get online on TF2 or L4D is some arrogant, stuck up twat saying everything everyone does is wrong. While Live has the same problems, I've had some really brilliant moments as well, and it still suffers the stigma of being the most unfriendly of the online systems, even though every network; PSN, Steam, Battle.net or Live, they all have these problems.

I own a PC, xbox and a Wii. The Wii is an expensive dust collector which hardly gets used and there has only been one exclusive title which I have througly enjoyed (which was SSBB) but other then that it hardly ever gets played; on a better note I would say I play my xbox and PC evenly because I love them both, yh one has a shitty life span and the other has bad console ports but hay it hurts us beacuse it loves us. The main reason I play them evenly is most of friends have an xbox and play it often so it gives more to time to have a laugh and enjoy myself with overs, I play my PC because it is better then my xbox with the addition of a new Direct X 11 G-Card which is amazing and has made all the "New" gen consoles look old and beacuse steam is cheap and FREE (Dam xbox costs me hard earned cash) and because TF2 is amazing, the communitys also hold a factor with little annoying kids playing xbox because they cant afford a decent computor and all those buttons on the keyboard would fry there little brains and the PC is for much more mature players and community and makes it a more friendly place rather than be called a noob and fag all the time.

I've got a Playstation 3 which I'm very happy with. But I fear that the time I spend playing PS3 will slowly fade away as I'm going to buy myself a new computer this summer.
