I think you misunderstood me, while it is obvious that the PC has all the functions (and can do them all better) than any console, it is the most high maintenance console if you treat it like one. Besides all the software updates you pretty much have to do manually, there are hardware updates that will cost you yearly.rockingnic said:I will toss out my $2000 laptop out the window before I think of selling my 360. It's hard to avoid flame wars when you're obviously stating a pretty strong opinion on how you think consoles aren't worth the money or effort compared to pc.
Oh and I think the RROD for the 360, which I think you were talking about, has the same rate as the other failure rates for the other consoles, at least those made recently, post 2007 or 2008 I think.
That's why I kind of excluded PC in my original poll and points. Consoles require (or at least should require) much less money and effort than a PC and that's the trade off. It's up to the individual to decide if it's worth it.
As for the rrod, it may very well be a thing of the past (and I hope it is) but the last stats I heard is that 40% of them have gone haywire. That's better than the 50% I heard about last year but that's still pretty bad. I know the other systems have had hardware failures too (I've had to deal with one myself) but I don't think they're anywhere near a 40-50% rate. But even if you had to replace it with your own money 3 times, it would still be cheaper and less time consuming to maintain than a PC.
My point (of this whole thread really) is that you have to trade off one thing for another. There's no console that really does everything... well. I would be willing to pay twice the price for a 360 if it was guaranteed not to get a rrod, had a BR drive, surfed the web, and I didn't have to pay for XBL.
