The only thing that makes less sense then this thread is starting another console wars thread.

I play PC and 360 but I find the 360 has less bugs, always meets the game's requirements and the 360's controller it FTW!

Consoles just involve less hassle.

I used to be a console only gamer due to the price of a gaming PC, but after my laptop decided to fry itself I made myself a PC.
Other than price, what the hell is wrong with PC gaming? It is a generally more mature crowd, but why create the divide between the console community and the PC gaming community?

I've never seen it done before but over the past few weeks it's been picking up, and it makes no sense at all, especially now that the lines between consoles and PC are becoming more blurred (Linux on PS3).
PC gamers tend to be more experienced in gaming than console owners, due to the cash it takes for a PC and the average 15 year old not being able to afford said amount. So when they ask for dedicated servers, it's usually for ping times and to play with the same people without having a myspace-esque friend list.
Linux hasn't been supported on the PS3 since firmware 3. they removed that feature sadly. & when it was available they cut off almost all use of the RSX so games couldnt be made for it.
I agree with you on all your other points though.

PCs are good for FPS and RPG games. Also good for RTS but i never found myself being attracted to those so I just sort of stayed away. However, I love having my Xbox because sports and racing games are superior on a console. Can't wait for Forza 3! Gah still another day to wait for borderlands PC...

PC gamers live in a much better community than console gamers.
Wrong. If an idiot plays Halo 3 and is QQing about lag and how he doesn't win the game he doesn't change if he plays CS:S or TF2.

They also get much better versions of any multiplatform game, in addition to mods.
Saints Row 2 and GTA IV.

Considering that almost all video games are on both the computer and xbox 360, the only difference is where you want to play them. The console games come with a nice guarantee that they will work in your xbox or w/e, whereas the computer game might just pull a "D10 shader 3d not detected" or something, and then explode. It's all really about what you like. Computer games tend to have crappier user interfaces and be more involved with servers and modding. Console games have matchmaking, better 'friend' support and better voice chat support. A workable computer for gaming will run about 4-5 times what an xbox costs, a good one is even more,so it costs slightly more for computer gaming even though the games tend to be a bit cheaper. I personally have an xbox 360, because I don't want to spend more than $300 on my gaming system, and because I don't want to worry about getting a new video card/computer every other year because the games just got more cpu intensive.

The only thing I dislike is the gamer made divide. I mean come on (cookie for reference), we're all gamers, some of us longer than others, some of us better than others. It shouldn't matter the hardware used. PC's have modding (somewhat, some are terrible, some are excellent, some games like Mass Effect which shall remain annon, seem to have a distinct lack of any). Consoles for the most part are/used to be plug and play. Now-a-days consoles seem to be moving towards PC styled gaming, eventually this silly divide will be gone, I hope it comes soon.

PC gaming usually doesn't even register on my mind, unless I'm on here, so I put "Other." My reaction to the PC gamers who have seething contempt towards consoles and console gamers is usually to go "Aw, how adorable..."

PC gamer here, so I know I'll get a shoe thrown at me for posting and all, but I couldn't help but pull this one out...

So... you spend how much on a 360? Having never bought one, I can only go on the internet. Here's the first one that turns up on my usual shopping site: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Xbox-360-Console-Hard-Drive/dp/B001DTD0WM/ref=dp_ob_title_vg

Now, that's £350 for the console. I bought and built my PC, I spent around £600 for it, so far I'm £150 worse off than you. That console has a 60gb hard drive. Being as mine came with a 186gb HD, and I bought a Tera External (931gb of usable space), I'm better off for storing and installing games on my system.

But hey, ignoring the extra space I get, let's pick up on the other "strength" of the 360. The friends system you mentioned. To use that, you get to use Live. To use LIVE, you have to have to pay, meaning an extra £35 per year. I love that about consoles... You buy the console, you buy the game, you pay the phone company for the line, then you get to pay Microsoft an extra 35 quid for the privilage to USE said game on said console on said phoneline.

I take your point about upgrades and not being able to play stuff though, but if you build the PC right in the first place you're safe for 3-5 years before you need to upgrade.

PC Gamers, feel free to post comments; post as many as you want. Just don't vote in the poll.

I used to primarily game on my PC before the whole "Modern Warfare 2" thing. I'd already started playing consoles more when the Left 4 Dead 2 boycott was announced, and as soon as the Modern Warfare Boycott was suggested, I just stopped playing the PC all together. I can't work out why some PC gamers need to boycott everything they don't like, and the console crowd (now united against the PC elitists) are generally a lot more laid back about everything.

It's a great platform, but I don't want to turn into one of them. End of the day, I just want to game.

I still prefer 360 over PC even though PC has like every game on it, just because most games that I get are slow and have bad graphics.. and lots of PC gamers get pissed at me when I say I prefer 360 for some reason and get all defensive

PCs do have some advantages over consoles. I don't know about £350 for an xbox, considering they're only $200-300 here new. And yes, xbox live is a problem for consoles, but the friend system still works with only the free membership, of course whats the point then without being able to play with them online. I don't think that hard drive space is an issue between consoles and PCs. You don't need to install anything onto an xbox, and the PS3 only has to have somethings installed. So the computer has 100's if not thousands of gigs of space, but its really a mute point. It still just comes down to you're preferences, unless you like playing RTS's, which you can only play on computers.

I'd like to call troll... but I won't...nvm I just did.

We are all gamers, I prefer PC due to the community, mouse and keyboard, mods, multi purpose, machinima, game recording, less screaming kids or retarded teens (jesus I sound elitest there..)

All in all, I find that we are roughly the same as console gamers minus the lower age group (for the most part) and in the end that's all that counts :D*cough* and mouse and keyboard*cough*

I really only play old games on the PC. Personally the newest game I would be interested in on that platform is Devil May Cry 4.

I have to split my gaming up.

Consoles are for shooters, hack 'n slash, and RPGs like Oblivion and such.

My PC is for strategy games (Total War, Dawn of War, etc) and RPGs such as Diablo II and Baldur's Gate.

However, the PC gets massive brownie points for having Heroes of Might and Magic III in its corner.
