I try to maintain proper grammar and spelling and expect the people I am communicating with to do likewise.

not really, i attempt to do things well enough when typing on the forums, but it doesn't exactly bother me when people don't use exact proper capitalization and whatnot, it just isn't necessary.
it doesn't bother me, but sure it's nice when someone uses nice coherent sentences. I don't care to be so judgmental though off of something so trivial.

I judge your intelligence if you speak that way. It's sort of the same way if an American person speaks broken, simple English. So it's not like some active, "I'm going to hate on you because you don't speak the right way". It's just a natural reaction.
Yes. If they're not going to take the time to form something coherent then I wont take the time to acknowledge them.
It's typically only children who do this. That, or people too socially inept to realise how obnoxious it is. I am however guilty of using short forms in messenger services for a couple words such and tho and thru (insert Eddie Izzard joke here).
On a side note I will state that I dont mind acronyms at all, but acronyms such as lol and rofl etc piss me off for some reason. Acronyms are always used to abbreviate something we would have had to type out otherwise, brb, gtg etc. Lol and its various alterations are describing situations that we wouldnt have said otherwise and are not actually happening. Hehe, heh, haha pretty accurately replace these. A lot of times people use lol to end a sentence of their own joke, which is obnoxious in itself. /end rant

I can see the point if you're texting, since sms has a character limit which some phones don't automatically split into 2 messages.
However, if you're at a computer and have a keyboard, it's actually easier to type normally. Text talk is like a complete disregard for other people's time since it's harder to read. Plus it makes you look dumb as hell.

It's the same whether it's on the phone or on a forum. It's ridiculous and makes it incredibly hard to read. It completely turns me off reading the message/post, and is disrespectful of other people. Yes, I am a grammar nazi, if only because I'm communicating in a language that I had to learn and it's difficult enough without idiots messing up the whole thing.

If I hit the character limit (160 on my phone) then I rewrite the last sentence to get the point across with fewer words or I skip a point altogether and save it for the next text. I understand when people need to leave out a few vowels to save space in a text message but on the internet there is no excuse because there is rarely a character limit and you have spell check available.

I don't even use "u" when I text, so, yes, it bothers me. Not going to make a fuss about it in a forum post, but I have people sending me pitch emails like that. Yeah, I'm going to hire you to showcase your writing acumen after you send me an email full of textspeak.

And if anyone uses terms like LOL, LULZ, OMG or "teh sucks" in face to face interaction I've determined that this is nature's way of telling me that the person I'm talking to has nothing relevant to say and I'm free to just zone out until they stop flapping their gums.

When I'm instant messaging or texting, it doesn't bother me. But on a forum, facebook post, email, holy fuck does it bother me. This is not a race, you have all the time in the world. So make sure your spelling and grammar is correct before posting.

It's annoying when someone assumes you know what MW2 or ME2 is, and is too lazy to spell out a couple of friggin' words. It's more annoying when someone is condescending toward your intellect because you disagree with them and they can't even spell or use words properly. I'm definitely annoyed by people spelling in slang, or spelling poorly in general. Things like "should of" or "haven't did" (although that's not really spelling) come immediately to mind. Sadly, it's not just limited to English. I'm seeing the same trend in Dutch and I think it has to do with the fact that people don't need to be able to spell properly anymore in many cases. Most writing is done on a keyboard in a program or browser with a spell checker.
