I try to maintain proper grammar and spelling and expect the people I am communicating with to do likewise.
pretty much this. and people who say LOL or similar things in real life make me weep for society. It gives me a headache and hurts my eyes to try and decipher it.Frybird said:It's annoying and dumb, and i can't take the person who writes like this seriously by default.
The only thing worse is people saying "LOL" in real life. Sometimes even without laughing. Makes me feel all face-punchy
oh. in that case i hear you.Supertegwyn said:Yes well, it was all I could think of. A better example would be something like this:cthulhumythos said:that isn't 'textese'. thats just terrible spelling. internet spelling is better when it as least legible. or an acronym, which i use from time to time.Supertegwyn said:Now when I say that, I don't mean on a phone or IMS, I mean in forums and emails (like this one)
Examples being:
"no i dunt tink that cod6 is bad, fuk u"
etc.
"il c u l8r"
It's annoying when someone assumes you know what MW2 or ME2 is, and is too lazy to spell out a couple of friggin' words. It's more annoying when someone is condescending toward your intellect because you disagree with them and they can't even spell or use words properly. Aside from that, I suppose it's not too irritating. I have great respect for a few people who still "LOL." But rest assured, if you ever witness me LOL'ing, I'm making fun of someone.Dystopia said:It bothers me immensely online, but in texts, not so much. What I do hate though is when people try to use text speak but only replace letters in the words, not make them shorter. Also when people use 'da' instead of 'the'. WHY?! I am irrationally pissed off now.
