Why is this JUST aimed at Xbox LIVE? I've seen enough dickheads on PSN say the exact same things.

guys can be dicks but girls can be annoying sluts. its the sluts that make dicks think this is acceptable and vice versa. not all of either gender is that bad, though, I consider myself a guy and not a dick (at least not to girls)

Ahaha. Yes, well My first play of WoW was with a girl character for the 10 day trial. I met a couple (like two) decent people and was hit on like once. I made one friend from the thing who only discovered i wasnt a girl when she got me on an instant messenger with photo and all... ... ... She was grand, i was grand. Its not like it developed into a relationship by anymeans... But everything is grand.

Tho I did notice people in general were more co operative when it came to gathering for quests or teaming up with that character >.>

I think it's healthy to hit on girls online just don't expect it to get real, she can always be a big hairy dude... or worse... a strong, tan, tall, with a giant thing trying to meet u. And if "she" says no it's no, keep ur pride up

How to determine whetever a "hi" in ANY situation leads to an interesting relationship (friendly or otherwise).

Questions asked by you:
1. What is sqrt(83)?
2. What do you enjoy most about this game?
3. If given the option to change anything, what would it be?
4. How can I make your day?
5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOur8qXvpnk&feature=fvst ?

Wrong Answers
1. lol, dunno, wtf is sqrt?, weird dude,
2. Any single statement without any explanation, like "friends", "party" (lol :p), "gear", "progress", "skill", "environment", "colors" (beware of LSD-addicts!!) so forth so forth
3. Anything game related, again single statements without explanations
4. Generic, offensive, vulgar. As the thread states no "be my gf, be my friend im lonely and emo"
5. Cant watch youtube on firefox (this was fixed)

Right Answers:
1. around 9, anything with 1 or more decimals, "hang on" (dude is interested enough to actually take his/her time to find out!)
2. "come with me il show you the perfect spot" --> "here i had this epic moment", real life story --> something witty, smart well-explained. Could be nutty, on of the better i've come across is:
"So im playing this tower defence (Warcraft 3) and my brother steps in with a water gun and soaks me through, I just manage to type "fuck im gettin assaulted" to the others in game and I run after the little fucker. My friend also playing the TD takes it seriously as i dont return his phonecalls and calls the town watch (group of parents patrolling at night) who shows up and gives me the bark of my life about making other pple worry and saying shit like im gettin assaulted, obviously I dont really get why they're there, but damn I got the scare"
I was off my chair laughing, still visiting that guy once in a while^^
3. See where the questions are going, your challenging the wit of the player, trying to see how he/she thinks!
4. This could very well be game related, play a prank on someone you both know, have a laugh, go do something nostalgic thing, play mission 1 together^^
5. "So this actually happened to me" :p, or err.. single statements will do "EPIC".

*note anyone should realise that they can twist and turn these questions into the fray of a conversation whenever and however you want it, it's just a pointer, there is no reason to judge players like some in this thread do on a single "hi", if you put some effort into it, one might end up finding a friend and that; is never a bad thing.

I don't do anything about, or try to be "the white knight" for the girl, because that's almost the same as the problem. Xbox Live is great for discrimination though isn't it?
Agreed completely.

Assholes will be assholes. I ignore them and find that my life is a lot less stressful because of it.

The topic question and the poll question are two different things. As for question one: I'm not a girl, but I can imagine that you could get up with the vicious cycle of "tits or gtfo / no girls on the internets?!". As for the second question: can guys online be pathetic? Hell yes, but that's not so much a gender issue as it is an effect of the age old internet equation Regular Person + Anonymity + Audience = Complete Fucking Retard.

I'm surprised this phenomenon even warrants a poll. Haven't we all accepted this as the bleak reality of online gaming in general? 90% morons, 10% decent people and 1% you'd actually consider being friends with. Just like real life really. :D

I'm a girl gamer. My username is pretty much genderless, same with my avatar, but most people assume I'm a guy. In my profile I list myself as female but the rest of my profile is also pretty genderless or not that girly. I don't exactly advertise myself as female, unless you count me saying I am in my profile. I agree that some females do enjoy it and advertise it more than others. Girls/women that do this can only expect it. It's not good but it's generally the norm.
I don't play a whole lot of online games, I played TF2, L4D etc. on a male friend's account and didn't use mics so no one knew I was a girl. I used to play Maplestory and played as a female pirate. I didn't get a lot of attention from guys (this may have been because I mainly played with my now ex so we sort of went off on our own rather than hang out in towns or whatever), in fact I was the one that befriended and gave loot to a newbie, male and I did it because I had stuff I wanted to get rid of and wanted to help him out because I remembered how hard it was when I started.
However, years and years ago when I tried Runescape I got attention from this one guy that took me to a mine and pretty much mined and gave me the loot. I accepted the gifts but did not do anything inappropriate. He was young and I declined his invite to be his "girlfriend" but said thank you for the gifts. That's really the only experience I had with using male attention for my whole gain but I was young at the time and didn't know better. :p In forums I'm more generalised as being a guy due to my avatar and username.
I'm a friendly person however, both in games and online forums and chats so if someone talks to me I make conversation and don't mind if they add me as a friend. I like randoms, be it guys or girls.
So in answer to the original post, guys can be dicks. Girls can use this for their own gain, be it attention or gifts. I don't agree with some of the females that posted but I have had a few experiences of male attention so I can understand it. Girls have probably had it worse than me but I've found some very good friends through forums and games, some of them male, and I don't mind if they talked to me because I was female. They didn't flirt, at least not in a gross way, and they were interesting people. I'd hate knowing that there might be a really great person out there and I've not talked to them because they're male. There are great people and jerks. Much like in real life. You take the good with the bad. Let's just hope it gets better!

EDIT: Sorry, I know the post is long but I have a few more things I want to point out.
I act more like a guy in real life too. I don't like the normal girly things and almost never wear dresses or skirts. I'm normally the first to crack out the "your mum" jokes and such. I'm pretty much the same online too. This probably adds to the whole "people assume I'm a guy" thing. I much prefer acting how I do. If people like me, great. If they want someone more girly, fine but I'm not changing for them.
One of my favourite moments is when I was playing Halo 3 with a friend. We had been pretty much tied all game (Though I kicked his butt in Half-Life with just a crowbar) and we were just turning out all this silly phrases. Like when he was teabagging my corpse and I said "Are you raping my dead body? Seriously? You can't get laid so you have to resort to raping a dead body on a video game?" his room mate who was playing WoW next to us did a running commentary of the random crap we said to his guild buddies. Much fun was had.

I happen to be a guy myself and I must admit, guys are dicks. It's sad, because a lot of times on the internet and other similar digital locations a poorly worded introduction and they just assume that you're "one of those guys".
Nearly every one I've givin a chance to has turned out to be "one of those guys"
I'll stick with saying "F OFF!" rather then getting pissed off later.
and that is why some guys act the way they do sometimes women on the internet are just bitchy and its nice to give them a taste of their own medicine.

I hate it when your team all lose their shit because a girl has come into the game.

Combat is not the place to chat people up... and honestly, the lass probably joined to get her kill on and almost certainly NOT to be pestered by a bunch of socially retarded cocknuggets.

Most guys online suck (I'm a guy btw). I've gamed with many different girls (and I know they were girls or at least guys with really high pitched voices) and never treat them any differently. If they are bad players I don't let their anatomy impact that nor do I try to hit on them. Online, everyone is a fifty year old pedophile!

Okay, first, I'm male. Second, I've never been on Xbox Live or the Playstation Network. I am, however, a "hardcore" World of Warcraft player. Usually in WoW when you're in a random 5-man group, this matter generally doesn't come up, even if one member of the group has a nick that has "girl" or "mynameisjane", or whatever, in it. If it does, then no one cares - although I remember being in a group once where one member was very rude to this poor girl who'd done nothing wrong, but the tank (who was also the group leader) told him to "shut up and do more DPS because the chick was pwning him, or he'd get kicked".

However, in a guild you are generally trying to piece together a fairly tightly knit community of people who you'll have to depend upon to learn tactics, prepare for raids, and of course talk to them for 4-5 hours for a minimum of 3 nights a week (that's my guilds requirement, at least, and we also require a working microphone). We didn't always require a working microphone, the old guild management thought it best if only officers would speak during raids, but about 3 years ago we changed that. Anyways, the first time a girl spoke on our guild ventrilo a few of the member went bonkers (for lack of a better word), and had to be sort of calmed down. Just a few raids later when more members of the guild had gotten to buying a microphone, it turned out most of our healers, a couple of our top ten DPS'ers and an off-tank who'd been with the guild from the start, were girls. By my reckoning that's roughly 25% of the guild.

We had a lot of trouble for a few weeks after that, mainly because we lost a lot of healers and a good off-tank because they would rather find a new guild than take the, now verbal(microphones FTW, eh?), abuse. It was decided at an officer meeting to implement disciplinary methods in case of verbal abuse of this nature - which then led to a guildmember coming out (isn't that the phrase?), it turned out he'd been too afraid to tell us because one of the raidleaders made a lot of gay jokes.

When I find out someone I'm playing WoW with is a girl, I have the same reaction today as I did the first time I found out that one of the people I'd leveled and instanced with almost from my first day in the game was not only a girl, but almost a decade older than I am. I'm slightly surprised, and then start wondering why she started playing WoW. I'm not gonna say I've never thought "I wonder if she's pretty", but I can honestly say I've never said "tits or gtfo".

Oh, and for those of you who're talking about anonymity on the internet; this is my real name, and that's me in my avatar picture. Hell, my facebook page is the same as my nick! Call it what you will, but I have no problem letting people know who I am.

PS. Why isn't there a "I'm a guy and just want to see the results" option? xP

I thought you meant because the girl was a shit player. I was going to post a long rant but because I read the rest of your post I don't have to. :)
I agree but it also annoys me when people use game chat to talk to two or three specific people. About SOCIAL things, things that have NOTHING to do with the game. Take it to a private channel or PM's so we can get on with the game! Steam has an in-game chat client for a reason and a private chat client for a very different reason to that!
Once when I was playing TF2 there were three guys talking about one guy's day. He was in a wheelchair and they were talking about how hard stuff must have been for him. He was rather quiet himself aside from saying things about the game. Another player told them to leave the mics off until they needed to say something relevant about the game. The two guys started saying shit about the player because he told them and the wheelchair guy to keep the mics clear. They were saying how he was discriminating towards the guy in the wheelchair even though the player said what he was doing was fine and he wasn't talking about him but rather the two players. More players got involved and it pretty much ruined the round. I left the server. It was funny to begin with but it did get tedious after a while.

It's just people out there trying to use there one lazy breadcrumb that acts like a braincell to try and bag a girl before the girl sees their ultimately fugly faces.

Me too, strangely enough though I've only ever submitted a report against other guys, its quite rare to get an utterly retarded swear box that happens to be a girl on KillZone.

I do so hope you're not this unpleasant in real life. How would you feel if your friends and family disregarded you because they thought you weren't good enough to even talk to you?

Also, you say "fuck" after like, every fourth or fifth word. It's not very becoming of you.
