One thing that I am constantly getting annoyed with is when I am playing some multiplayer (usually Modern Warfare 2) and hearing guys talk bullshit to girls. "Hey baby what size are ya t**s??".

My stepsister recently had to spend out the 800 Microsoft points so she can change her name from Beth xD because she was receiving 10+ friend requests and masses of messages a week on her LIVE account. It really annoys me how sad and pathetic some gamers can resort to being and this really ticked me off.

Would like to know how you girls feel about this issue or any guys concerning it =)
ON my online gaming life I have met many girls too (not the typical virtual X-dresser) but girls! At the end of the day as gamers girls end up having similar behaviors, can be as fanatic and as agressive as boys, if not worse. (God help u if u end up with a girl as GM, u better run for cover! Joking!)

BUt the question is biased! Its asked if guys online CAN be pathetic. Well actually all can, so can girls. who says no, lies. Probbaly the right question is if girls think guys online are usually pathetic, I would guess thats what the you ment.

I said hello to a girl on starcraft because she was a girl and now we are bf gf and moving in together dont listen to these whining women guys, harassment gives its own rewards
I guess what people tend to forget from gamers is that we are actually human and boys will be boys so get over it or get a tissue.
I say hello to girls on-line as well and I also met my girlfriend that way, I enjoy gaming with them because they are rare. However I think there's a difference between saying hello and harassment.

I don't believe that "hello, mind if I squad up with you?" and "hey whats your cup size?" is the same thing. So give us a break, some of us guys are just trying to be friendly and socialize.
Man. It seems like I'm an exception to the general rule.

About three years ago I was playing Halo and there was a girl. I joked around and acted like an asshat, opening with the line "So how big are they?" and various other things. When I was normal joking she took it fine however when I said stuff like that she fired right back.

Friends for a couple months during which we found out we lived pretty close, only about an hour. Dated for a year after. Friends for a bit after that till stuff happened.

Kinda funny that it got me the girl, even if only for a limited time.
hahaha, now we're treding on the hallowed ground thats "flirting" and I aint touching that subject with a 10 ft pole. But I guess different people react differently to online trash talk

I just like it on MMO's when you get guys flirting with characters just because they're female, the amount of female characters that are really middle aged men is quite amusing.

I dunno, do you get annoyed with low life guys online? It's the same people, just the things they say are a bit different.

Well, just rememeber the rule (EDIT: John Gabrial, not Penny Arcade. I was wrong.):

Ordinary Person + Audience + Anonymity = Jerkwad

The above statement doesn't apply to anyone here, obviously.

I am sick and fucking tired of random guys coming up to me in Phantasy Star Universe saying shit like "can I see a picture of you" and other bullshit like that.

Even the ones that just say hi to me piss me the fuck off, the come up and just say "hi" out of the fucking blue, yeah I fucking know why you're coming over from your group of friends to say hi, fuck off!

They all think just because they come over, start talking to me and being all nice that I will fucking fall in love with them.
yes, and we all know that won't happen, because you're incapable of emotions.

OT: I have never talked to a girl online, maybe because I annoy them with all my bass talk before they are able to turn on their mics...

I can completely agree with guys being assholes just because they think there might be breasts involved, but it doesn't help the matter when girls act in a provocative manner. If you make your name 'Bitchqueen7' and your profile says 'yeah ima girl and i got huge tits! whatru gonna do about it?' it tends to encourage that lowlife behavior.

However, that is usually the only reason that you know they are girls. The girls who just want to play tend to use more creative names and don't advertise sexuality, so it kind of depends on what your name is and how you present yourself in addition to how many assholes are around you. Also, never forget, if you didn't have boobs then you would just be called gay. The asses are just making their name-calling specific to you and you shouldn't feel like they are treating you any differently.

Used to get annoyed. My first online game was CS and oh hell, I was 13 and didn't know jack shit about how some guys reacted to girls in the online gaming community. Foolishly I had a name a nick that had 'Girl' in it-

Gotten kicked/Banned because I wouldn't provide pics to prove I was a girl, PK'ed, long ass rants about how I was a she-male/fat/ugly blahblah. Some guy on a CS server I used to play regularly at as a kid, used to pester me saying he would commit suicide if I didn't agree to marry him wtf? Also death treats and such. But started playing MMO's and finding a decent legion/guild goes a long way avoiding those kind of ass hats. Of course you still run into the occasional idiot, but they are easy to ignore. Not really worth getting worked up over.

But to be specific, I prefer the shy gamers who can't say "boobs" without blushing. So cute. ^_^
They annoy me just as much because they keep going "uhm well ah" and so on.

After reading this and your other post ...

Are there any guys you do actually like?

Oh, and I think it's pretty sad if you feel the need to put your gender in your GT/PSN anyway, if you don't wanna be defined by something, then don't define yourself as it.

When I hear a girl online in TF2 or Left4Dead2, i think "that's a surprise", then I continue to play.

Strange thought: Isn't this thread revealing all the girls of The Escapist for these pathetic male gamer types?? xD
As a guy I feel embarassed for any douche bag who generally tries to be a big man by acting in these stereotyped and grotesque ways.
(but a lot of the time it equally sickens me when I see girls abuse these things by getting guys to spoon feed them items like smtn in WoW)

Yea, thats pretty much my reaction aswell, might be a bit nicer to her because of my chivalrious upbringing :p But then again im generally nice to most people online, unless they really piss me off, at which point I will send them bad feedback, Yea that'll teach them!

You're single, aren't you? I mean seriously, just for saying 'hi'? Get yourself some prozac.

Dickheads are dickheads everywhere, gender isn't really an issue. I frequently have trouble with people SCREAMING into the headset while playing Forza 3. =/ Not being able to slug someone for being a retard sure does get annoying sometimes.

Wow this stuff really happens? Whenever I meet a girl on XBL I treat her just like any other gamer out there.
Likewise...

Unfortunately we seem to be a minority on the Internet....

I've seen many guys do this to girls and it's just plain annoying; especially when they ask: "wanna b my gf?" that's sad also. I mean, come one, you don't even know her...

Teddy's a good kid... Just a little bit scary with her opinions xD. And I hear complaints (and see evidence there of) to support these claims she makes... When some of my friends end up breaking up with their boyfriends, suddenly it's hard to get at them because of all the the attention from guys who haven't even talked to them in years... It's sad even from my perspective xD

Trust me, most of us are sickened by it too.

As for the OP's question, yes I get fed up with guys acting like douches online, but as I already pointed out I equally get fed up with girls acting like tarts online, so in short I just get fed up with people acting like idiots online.

As for the voice problem, I only use voice chat in MMORPG's with guildies and friends. Haven't encountered any problems there and I'd be surprised if I ever did since I'm fairly selective of which guild I join and who I put on my friends list.

What really ticks me off is the sad comments some guys whisper you at random just because your character is female, like 'your hot' or 'r u a girl?'. Seriously, what are they hoping to achieve? Most female characters aren't even played by girls and those that are will just put you on ignore. The only ones who might respond are either attention whores or guys pretending to be girls for the hell of it.
